It's most definitely the NDS talking. There's no doubt in my mind, with what's been said before everyone had to go silent, that at least a little bit of the arc has been dubbed already.

Does anyone else remember Chris Sabat saying "We have over 60 episodes of Buu Kai to dub." or that Kai was being made specifically for the overseas market? So why would Mr. Sabat say they don't have any plans of dubbing it?

To observe an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).

When NDAs are broken, it's not always intentional. Sonny Strait said that he thought it was OK for him to reveal a role he got in Soul Eater, only for FUNimation to call him up and tell him he wasn't cleared to reveal that yet.

My guess is that Schemmel, Hebert, and Sabat all thought they were given the go-ahead to reveal it, only to be told after the fact that they weren't, at which point they were forced to do a 180 and lie in order to observe their NDAs.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Wonder if Sabat is bullshittin. Back in April, Kyle Hebert also confirmed that he was about to start recording Gohan for Kai.

I agree with your preference, but "artistic taste" is as subjective as it goes.
The Ultimate Tenkaichi version is artistically inferior in every way. I can explain why in detail, but that'd be off-topic.
So can I, but that's irrelevant to the claim of artistic taste not being a matter of personal preference. It is.

Exactly. It's like calling a director's cut of a movie a remake of the theatrical cut. It's nonsense, as you very well said.

I feel that this is the case without a doubt. The direct quote from Kyle Hebert's facebook page back in early 2013 is as follows:

"Just got the blessing to announce I will be returning as Gohan for the Buu Saga of Dragonball Z Kai. No release or broadcast dates for now. For those who overlooked Kai because of the edits on TV, remember its UNCUT on DVD/blu ray. Pretty psyched to return to the role that began my VO career. Recording in a few weeks."

This of course was deleted shortly afterwards.

EDIT: Well, Appuru-sama has the quote right above this post.

It's probably just a case of Toei or Funimation higher ups wanting them to shut up about it until they can clear it/finish it up. Fans will expect it right away and never stop pestering them for it. Come on, you know how we get.

Maybe Toei got wind of the leaks, scolded Funimation, and Funimation is now "I KNOW NOTHINK I SEE NOTHINK!" ala Schultz.

After looking at the quotes from Sean Schemmel and Kyle Herbert it seems like Christopher Sabat was trying to do damage control. It would make no sense for them to have not even started recording for DBZ Kai after the statements both Schemmel and herbert made.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

Hmmmm, perhaps Sabat may be right, FUNImation are dishing out these Season Blu-Rays pretty fast, and by the time S9 is out they could have dubbed the Buu Saga ready for a fresh 2015 release. Just a thought.

I know FUNImaton treat Kai as a separate entity, but releasing Kai simultaneously next to Z, is going to confuse a hell of a lot of people. As much as I love them, some of there actions are questionable to say the least. Here's hoping Sabat was lying and they're doing the finishing touches right now :)

Yeah, especially given that Saban was, what, the voice director of Kai? He'd be there right from the start.

Kai's Buu Saga has just been a terrible kept secret that they're determined to keep.

Yup they are going to continue this charade as long as they can! Which I'm totally ok with besides giving us conflicting information like this. It would have just been better for Christopher to not respond to that question that to give a completely different response from his two voice acting peers. Oh well though. Anyone who does a lick of research on the topic will know what's actually going on.

And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

I've said as much before. It'd be hilarious, but also really good.

But yes, I'm pretty sure Sabat's words were really that of an NDA. Kyle Hebert and Sean Schemmel have both commented on recording it previously, and I really don't see why they'd be the ones lying.

Also, Kyle and Sean are both VA's, whereas Sabat is an employee of FUNimation.

I'm sorry, but I've been trying to figure this out for the last hour and I just can't. But about the final musical piece used in the vid (Where SSJ3's appearance is revealed); would you mind telling me where it's from? It's amazing.

Holy crap thanks. I can't believe that's what it was.

I was thinking "It has to be from the BoG soundtrack."...but I thought I was just confusing it with "Birth of the Super Saiyan God".

Eh well, at least my search led me to some more of his excellent music.

I'm okay with them hiring the-composer-whose-name-shall-not-be-revealed. I just hope he gives us a wider range. Specifically, some happier melodies. The Buu arc is a pretty lighthearted storyline. I enjoyed about a fourth of the "Battle Of Gods" score; the rest was just too somber and lifeless to me.

All this does is remind me that it's been almost 20 years since we last had new Kikuchi music... :(

Y'know...between the music, the various dubs, the cancellations, the recasts......I think Kai might be a legitimately cursed product when it comes to secrets being kept. Almost every "announcement" about this show has been known waaaaaaaaaaay in advance, even if it takes a while to get officially confirmed. Not complaining, I just find it amusing.
