Aw, hell. I told myself -- and you -- I wasn't interested in these DVDs, but I can't pass up the opportunity to have these. What are you planning on selling them for?
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I would buy old fansubs in an instant if the price isn't too ridiculous! It's one piece of Dragonball history I'm fascinated by. Those early fansubs were a pretty underground thing.

Heck yes they were. That's why I will continue to monitor and watch this thread like a hawk!

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

I haven't come up with a price yet, but its going to be very reasonable. I'm not a greedy dude, people want to see these and its the dbz community. Its my kind of people..

Yea I'll ship anywhere on the earth. I've been getting a pretty good amount of e-mail from people all over the place, if it can be shipped. I'll ship it.

So people essentially just like this release due to nostalgia I guess? Yep, probably.

The Japanese audio isn't crystal clear as what Kei17 has but still better than the muffled Dragon Box Z audio, though.

DBZ Fansub Cassette - You Look Like Shit strangely it makes me feel uncomfortable and I'm used to curse words all the time on reviews, rant videos and whatnot.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

HAHA, Its so funny in retrospect. Back then, most people had no idea those subs weren't legit. All I thought was how awesome it was too see this real, hardcore, Japanese version of DBZ while everyone else was watching cut to shreds, edited, p.g version of the Freeza saga over and over on cartoon network.

little things like using the word shit instead of poop can really change the dynamic of a scene. I always loved it, its good stuff man, the whole idea of it. It was underground, they were hard to get. I used to have my dad drive me an hour away to go buy these from the one comic store that sold them. I live in south FL, its populated here, imagine how rare it would be for someone who lives by nothing or in a small town to get these.

It was a different time, the internet was young, we were all young... Stuff like this just couldn't happen today with high speed internet, torrents & stuff like google translate.. They sort of represent the end of an era.

A little off topic but anything is better than this copy of Titanic I found at my thriftstore (I thought this was a real copy) *Warning: Lower volume*

On topic. I'd love to get the subtitles and continue my project of making srt files out of them for Dragon Boxes. It's a fun novelty lol

I'd love to get ahold of clean Japanese broadcast audio because watching it with the muffled audio is sort of unpleasant but since there's nothing else it's hard to complain about it.

P.S.: Have you considered sending FUNimation samples of your Japanese audio for them to use on their DBZ releases? I read that Toei Animation refuses or something to use the ones that Kei17 has so that's a no go but there's still FUNi.

This man will become a hero . For all of his work we should help him with all that we got. My heart is trembling with hope , that the day has come where the Original Broadcast Audio shall be listened. And a fan was born wishing to share all this with us the huble dragon balml fans. We thank you from the bottom of our heart.

Do you realize that old fansubs rarely were done on straight records from TV records, but were distributed copies of copies of copies and further copies resulting in the audio being very poor?

I get that but with some clean-up and tweaking the audio could sound better than the muffled we have currently across all Dragon Ball Z home releases. Heck, FUNimation on the Season BDs tried to improve the muffled audio but it still doesn't compare to the Broadcast.

Here's a compilation of clips from some DBZ fansub cassettes on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65YvGbG ... 7C5D0850C9 (some sound better than others)

Unfortunately, that still wouldn't matter. FUNimation can only release what Toei permits them to release. So as long as Toei says no, FUNimation's opinion on this issue doesn't matter.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Is that the definition of hero now? Selling bootlegs? You're setting the bar awfully low don't you think?

He's overly optimistic about the quality of the audio if you ask me, but one can dream. Didn't Derek Padua send digitized versions of many of these tapes directly to Chris Sabat not too long ago anyway?

edit: yes, he sent tapes.

No, really, I used to watch VHS fansubs and unless it's the first copy, the sound really isn't good!

This is a version 2 for the DVD Menu, I got some good advice when I posted the last one and I feel this one came out much better.

The version on youtube is much lower quality than the one that is going to be on the DVD its compressed from 6.20gb to 117mb, I'm uploading a better version but its going to take a long time.

This is pretty close to final, there are a few things I am going to change but I'm to tired & hungry to continue today. Next step will be to show you guys a working version as if it was in a DVD player.

Again, any constructive criticism is welcomed.

Imagine the play & extra buttons changing to a white glow color when its selected.

I like this version but I might be a little biased because I just love the song so damn much..
