I'll be able to judge it better once I receive my copy since I'll be able to check out more footage. From what I've seen so far the colors in this scene look decent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NmkfGoyN_Q . The colors in this scene however look atrocious it's overly bright similar to the final few episodes of the season 1 blu rays http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2LAugI6HCM .

Wow this doesn't look bad at all lool I'm shocked.

May I confess?

I really like the menus on these.

The clip of season two above also looks fairly good, though I have no idea how accurate the Youtube video is. I'm not picking these up as I already have both all the Dragon Boxes and all of Kai on Blu-Ray, but it's certainly a step above the orange bricks.

Ugh, the colors are still nearly identical to the Orange Bricks. Can't believe all of the positive remarks people have been making towards these sets:

All of these comments make me a sad panda.

It doesn't have the disappearing lines, and it's a little bit sharper, but it also has it's own share of terrible flaws, like the digital panning, and random splotches of grain.
eledoremassis02 wrote:Here a shot (Season set *from you tube* and Dragon Box and season DVD).
I... like the Orange Brick colors better. They're basically the same, but they actually did some white balance correction on the Orange Bricks. It's actually pretty damn sad that it seems more effort was put into the colors on the Orange Bricks than the new Blu-rays... I can't wait until people post some screens of the super bright episodes.

I foresee myself turning down the brightness a bunch, getting pissed off, and then switching over to Kai. Then, I'll start getting nostalgic for the music placement in Z and switch back over. It'll go on in an endless loop until I run out of craps to give.

That said, the colors actually look pretty nice in my opinion.
That's the impression I got as well this reminded me of the traced scenes from Kai http://i6.minus.com/iWhmpjqVvLsfc.png .
I think that's the look they're going for. No joke.

Yeah, I think I'll just skip a step and go directly to collecting Kai on Blu-ray. I'd MUCH rather deal with some sloppy music placement (that I honestly don't even notice half the time, because I watch Kai in English and am always more focused on the voices and script) than butchered video.

Aghhh the sharpness of these blu rays are actually hard to look at :wtf:
It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

Orange Brick:
Blu-ray (YT):
They used the same masters so color is going to be the same, so that is to be expected. These aren't upscales of the orange bricks as that would be awful..
Also, the colors aren't the same. The OBs Jheese had a pure red skin tone, also his shoulder blades have more of a brownish tint than the yellowish brown on the bottom.
The Blu-Rays have more of a Orange-Red tint.

Yeah, but I'm saying that I keep seeing comments about how much better these look, but I'm not seeing it, aside from the new Blu-rays being sharper.

Those are all very subtle differences.

I just took a couple of quick screenshots from the Season 2 blu ray. These are from episode 73. Inititial impressions it seems like they actually toned down their grain reduction.
Here are some screenshots

I have to go to class now but if anybody has any requests tell me the episode number and I'll grab some screenshots from it when I get home.

They all look very decent but it's a shame that Nairu's mouth was cropped out whatever happened to the "selective cropping", FUNimation?

Yeah, I really hope that's the start of a tilt or something. There's zero reason for that otherwise.

If you're trying to use a direct romanization of Nail's name, that's not it. ネイル = neiru... but there's pretty much no reason to do so when the pun source is literally just the English word "snail" with the "s" chopped off.

I've actually always liked the really dark and cinematic look season 2 had since it went really well with the color scheme of namek so I do think it would be interesting to see a less bleached looking version. Maybe just maybe I might get season 2.

You know, looking at the first two images, it looks like they just took their Orange Bricks, and removed the blurriness. Does that make sense? I kind of like the way it looks tbh. (As far as a 16:9 release is considered)

I like how the new Blu-ray looks as well thekingfallsdown but I always love how the Dragon-boxes come in and just smack the crap out of both those releases haha
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I don't know how things are going to work out for me money wise but If everything goes good then I'm going to try to get season 2 but I'm going to order from amazon's warehouse or whatever so hopefully mine won't have any issues(If I can even get it lol)
