No, that's definitely not cheap.
Training? What's that?
Goku transformed into SS when his best friend got killed for the 2nd time and thought he was gone for good(and that was after him training since he was a kid being now 20+ years old)
Gohan trasnformed into SS at Random during training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber...and he transformed into SS2 at 9 years old when he got upset that a fucking robot(Android 16) was killed by Cell

Goku and Vegeta never received bullshit power-up's...they had to train hardcore for them...unlike their Spoiled Brat Kids which turn into SS out of nowhere

Re: Why do fans hate/demonize Yamcha and Chi-Chi?
Randomguy, your hatred for Goku is insane. Seriously, Goku does little training? Goku is constantly in a state of training! That's all he does when he's not eating or sleeping. Goku didn't get SS through training but Gohan did? Ridiculous! Yes, Goku got it through anger, that's how it's unlocked. The same happened to Gohan. Goku spent 6 intense days of training in very harsh gravity. Sure, there were power ups from near death, but he didn't have an unlimited supply of senzu, just 6 or 7 I believe.
In any case, Gohan had cheap power ups, Goku had cheap power ups, Piccolo had a cheap power up, so did Vegeta.

Re: Why do fans hate/demonize Yamcha and Chi-Chi?
I can understand the being mad at Goten for being a surprise SSJ (although why be mad at Goten, he's the most adorable character ever), but Gohan trained a lot and started training before Goku did, age wise, and that's without counting that ever since he showed up in the manga all the saiyans did was talk about how being a half saiyan / half earthling made him even more powerful than full saiyans in base form. The only time he slacked was after the Cell Games, and he got his ass kicked by Dabura and Buu because of it. The Z sword business is an ass pull, but to be honest, Buu saga is pretty chaotic with its power ups, and the whole Rou kaioshin thing is only an example of it.
I have always liked the fact that Goku and Vegeta work the hardest of all the fighters even in the case that they weren't the strongest just based on their natural abilities. I think that makes them better fighters than their kids who might be inherently more powerful or talented, but aren't as passionate about fighting and training as them, and it sets them apart. They still get ridiculous power boosts and BAM NEW SUPERPOWERS all the time like every main character in Dragonball, but that's how it works in-universe.

It's not true that Gohan started training before Goku did. We meet Gohan when he's younger and he's stronger than Goku was at his age, but Goku was likely training with grandpa Gohan since he could walk.
Pretty much my feelings. Gohan trained all the way from Raditz to Cell. Re: Why do fans hate/demonize Yamcha and Chi-Chi?
I think that even though Goku trained with Grandpa Gohan since he was very little, his serious training started with Muten Roshi, because of grandpa Gohan's death when Goku was still so young, so age wise, considering that Gohan started training with Piccolo when he was 4, he could've had the upper hand in terms of quality training for a longer time of his childhood. Not that it makes a difference, either way, my point was that Gohan trained a lot when he was a kid, so I don't think his competence as a fighter was a fluke at allIt's not true that Gohan started training before Goku did. Re: Why do fans hate/demonize Yamcha and Chi-Chi?
Well, it's not clear Gohan trained or how much he trained during the year after Namek. I admire smart and driven characters, and while Goku's not books smart, he's a genius in battle, and pushes himself constantly. He settles for nothing less than his best.
Here are my feelings towards Yamcha, I don't get why he's hated. Yes, he's a punching bag, but it's played for laughs, so I'm not sure why people hold it against him.
Gohan had a leg up on a lot of characters. He had the genetics and the collective wisdom of fighters like his father and Piccolo. He's not a pushover when it came to training but he's hardly his father. Also, I don't think he has the desire or knowhow to push himself past his plateaus by himself.

Re: Why do fans hate/demonize Yamcha and Chi-Chi?
I don't think anyone hates Yamucha.
He's just a loser, is all. A failure. But he's that loser you still invite to parties because you still like him, anyway. He stuck with you through thick and thin, and even if he couldn't do anything of note, he still tried when he could.
It's great to make fun of him, but you can't really HATE him. The man took a hand through his chest, had a giant hole in his damn chest, and survived. I don't care HOW MANY senzu you take, if you're missing your damn internal organs, you're gone. Yamucha said, "No way, I'ma stay around, with my Bart Simpson hair."
And his voice in the anime is TOHRU FURUYA. AMURO FREAKING RAY. The great Newtype.
Yamucha, you disappointing, but lovable bastard. Come 'ere, you waste of life. Let's hug it out, you dodgy rogue.
Why do people hate Chi-Chi? Well any character who gets in the way of fighting is seen negatively, no matter how sane their objection to putting children in harm's way is. She's that (kind of sexist if you think about it) "wet blanket woman" character. She's like Marge Simpson in a way. We only see her as unreasonable because we want to see Goku's fun.
Also, uh... the filler exaggerates her a bit.

Yes. It does. Or at least made fun of for the author explicitly mocking him, like Yamcha.Besides being a secondhand recollection, Toriyama said in a firsthand interview at the same time, he didn't actually like Vegeta, but that he mostly a tool for moving the plot. Guess that means Vegeta should be hated and demonized as well.
For the last fucking time, no, he didn't. Stop making shit up. It's all purely your opinion that someone who's nervous around women wouldn't be able to say "yes" when asked for sex.Toriyama contradicted that secondmand statement in a later firsthand interview.

When did I say he didn't train a lot...? That seems to be all he does for fun.
No, it's not. Goku got it in a spur of the moment. He got the necessary battle power from zenkais. Gohan got it in a controlled environment, and got the necessary battle power from training in the ROSAT.
And of those senzu, he used five. That's where almost all of his power would have come from. It was smart of him to abuse them, but that doesn't make it less cheap that he went from no match for Cui to strong enough to roflstomp the Ginyus in one week.

If he was a "serial cheater" than why was he still so nervous that he got fired from a host club?
He probably panicked around his girlfriend from the Cell saga...I do not get Toriyama's "Well Yamcha's a cheater" comment aimed at Furuya at all.....
and the Red Ribbon army anime filler shown Yamcha not to be happy around the fangirls....and the worst thing he did that we saw as BEING HIT ON (by said fangirls, Hasky and Maron and believe me, he was panicking when the latter two hit on him, especially Hasky, Yamcha was just stammering when Maron hit on him) and peeking at Gym Ladies during the Trunks saga, JUST peeking, NOT having sex or even talking, just looking...both were filler though.
