Got this game a week ago and already sold it back. I don't play games as much as I used to, but I feel like even if I did, this game would still suck. The combat is just too absurd to me. Really miss the Sparking/Tenkaichi game engine.

The game definitely isn't for everyone. Most of what actually makes it fun is never even explained by the game itself leaving players to figure it out for themselves.

What do you mean by the combat being too absurd, though? Tenkaichi was a lot of fun but had a steep learning curve as well. Neither are very user friendly.

Aww come on you make it sound like they are such hard games, when it's not true at all. I played Tenkaichi 3 two years ago and i picked up on the controls really easily. It's not like you need to learn ten thousand combos or special techniques for casual play.

A game doesn't need to be mindless to have an easy learning curve. I wish Namco Bandai would realize that.

Can't agree more Flame Dragon. Tenkaichi 3 is one of my favorite DBZ games of all time for this reason. I'm still hesitant on picking up Battle of Z even with the 10 dollar price drop. I think I'm just going to go ahead and get the Budokai HD collection instead but I really want something different than the regular DBZ fighting genre games which I've already played a ton...

Figured I'd let you guys know that there is a Golden Line up right now with Porungas Wish (Bonus PP based on EXP earned during mission) which is very useful when saving up for them Weekly line up cards.

Line up started at midnight and will likely be around for the next 3 days.

ScrewAttack's review is a 4/10 and they make really good points about it.

I'm still hoping Om3gaPro posts his own review since he's done for the past games.

The only complaint that I could give this game is that it doesn't have a "training mode" for you to get use to the controls, other than that the graphics looks great. :)

True, but what a fighting game needs to have are characters that are unique from each other, which I think Bandai was going for in this game with the types, the problem is that it wasn't executed well enough despite making it fun.(though this game's a half brawler/RPG) The BT series may have been awesome, but this is a MAJOR flaw in the games, most characters play the same.

And PLEASE spare me the "characters fight the same", there is a difference. Sure most characters "fight" the same, but why should they "play" and "feel" the same. That's where I give credit to Budokai and Super DBZ. Heck even some 3-D games like Dissidia have characters "play" different. If the characters play the same, that'd be boring as hell. If they are planning to do another game, they need to take more time as possible, don't just cram in characters. Didn't even know how Spike managed to put all those characters in with no substance.

They're not hard to play but a 3d fighting game with ariel decent and ascend controls is inherently complicated. I'm merely suggesting Battle of Z and Tenkaichi were equally accessible (since the comment was directed at the user who pined for the Tenkaichi engine back and called BoZ's combat absurd).

Combat wise anyway. Actual match mechanics wise Battle of Z is much more complicated due to the co-op nature of the title.

I don't agree that budokai characters are all that different, but that's just my opinion. Thing is, the Tenkaichi engine has a lot of potential for DBZ games. If they added ground combat and a few of the improvements from Raging Blast 2 that would make an awesome game. We also have the Zenkai Battle Royale game which uses the tenkaichi engine too. If they ported that game and added 1 on 1 battles too that would also be a nice game. The characters also are very different there from what I have seen.

Battle of Z has a lots of problems. The design is lazy, every attack and ultimate looks the same, and the gameplay is way too iimited. It can be fun for a time, but gets boring soon. It also lacks offline modes. I'm not a big fan of online games, mostly because they have an expiration date. When the servers are down, the game becomes unplayable, so if the game doens't have good offline modes then in my opinion it's not worth it.

This game looks awesome, both graphics and gameplay!
Battle of Z looks like a joke in comparison...

Why didn't we get this instead of the poor man version?

That's great, I didn't knew there was a 1 on 1. I guess this game will probably get more characters and more polishing and finally will appear on ps4 or something eventually. At least I hope it does. It's way more complex than Battle of Z, and seems more fun too.

If you wanna buy the codes, someone is actually selling them on ebay.com.
I found one for xbox360 and one for PS3.

Xbox 360 code;

$102 and $227.. for content that's on the disc?

A user here has confirmed that on Xbox 360 the "DLC" characters bought from the Japanese store work on their EU copy (so I suppose it's region free to US too).

People are either trolling those auctions or just really stupid to be burning that kind of money for that.

Buying the DLC on the Japanese Xbox marketplace will work for any version of the game. PS3 DLC however is region locked so it will only work on the Japanese version.

Just keep praying they'll release them eventually...I doubt it'll happen though.
