I was just doing a simple re design for the new bluray sets that would appeal to regular people cause I found the current covers too friggen convoluted from a design stand point of view.

However if I bother entering this I'll focus more on Dragon Box esque looking stuff, using yellow for Z obviously.

Started with a idea for a bluray with raw footage...maybe use this as a base for this contest

or maybe do a level set dboxfusion using my 2.1 as a template

Making some progress. It'll probably look absolutely nothing like this when it's done but hey ho.

Pahaha, yup, my idea totally changed in the last hour. I'll probably use that previous one as a basis for the back cover or for my version of the Dragon Book.

Here's a horribly compressed preview. I can't decide on a typeface for the logo or whether to just replicate the Dragon Box's anyway.

Rules for Contest:

Round 1
1) Must be subscribed to my channel
2) Must live in the USA or Canada if you don't you can still win but will have to pay for shipping :/
3) Must not be an exact replica of the Japanese Dragon Boxes
4) The more creative the design is the better
5) Needs to look like a Dragon Box meaning more Japanese Art Style if you slap Piccolo from Kai on a Design and call it done probably won't be chosen.
6) Submission deadline is April 4th
7) Needs the Dragon Book somewhere in Design
8) Submission can be a video or a image/images
9) Needs to be a design for Dragon Ball not Z Gt or the Movies those contests will come later
10) Although this is a cover competition keep in mind that if Funimation was doing a release it probably would be more than one set Accuracy to how a release would be will also be a determining factor in choosing the top 5.

Final Round

If Chosen design will be up starting April 14th until the End of the Month
1) If you have just given a design I will make a video for your submission
2) Video that has the most likes after the two week period will be chosen as the winner
3) The owner of this design will then have a message sent to them asking them what prize they want. (Either Full Color Comic 2 or Dragon Ball Z Season 3 Blu Ray)

Well hopefully everyone's designs are coming along well. Feel free to post your updated progress as it will be neat to watch the designs transform until the final submission.

Well this is what I have so far. I tried to make it realistic. I figure they'd have five of these and I plan on making five of them. I just need to do a prototype and this is what I got going on.

Please give comments, suggestions, etc. Thanks :)

@TheGreatness If you would like some constructive criticism I would recommend that the back of your blu ray case does not just have so much empty white space add text or rework the back picture designs maybe use the dragon that is featured on the Japanese Boxes??? No Idea but it does look really good.

@ Miss Vegeta Design looks awesome for a complete dragon ball dragon box that contains all 153 episodes in 1 volume which i don't know how likely this is?? But it is really a spectacular design so not sure how i would modify it.

Last one for the night.

I realize that 30 episodes per Blu-ray seems low, but I'm using the Season Sets as the backdrop. That's where the summaries come from lol Plus, the Dragon Box actually has 7 different boxes with 4 DVDs each so I'm already cutting it down by 2 lol I have to think about which images I'll combine for future covers.

If I designed it?

Art is not really my forte. In terms of the concepts I would appreciate, I really, really love Miss Vegeta's. The only thing I could see about it as a negative is being too busy in the eyes of making a streamlined look that's popular nowadays (and less expensive to produce!), but I would buy the heck out of it. I think if the amount of art on the cover was going to be kept to a minimum while still looking impressive, Ajay's would be great. In terms of keeping current, TheGreatness reminds me of the Kai discs. So any of those would make me happy and I think if they ever did do one, it would look like one of them.

Alright, here's my finished entry:

You wanted something that stuck pretty heavily to the Asian theme of the original Dragon Box so this is what I came up with overall. I wanted to make it feel classic but modern at the same time. Something that wouldn't look massively out of place in FUNimation's modern catalogue for example. I think it turned out okay. Fingers crossed!

Really happy with the slightly raised dragon on the back. I could picture it as one of those raised slip covers too. Still undecided on the glowing eyes but it needed something to break up the constant blue.
