A cosplayer would be able to answer this more properly, but I think it's impossible unless you have a lot of hair and its long. Also, gel doesn't really hold hair standing on point for long periods of time unless its some really hardcore stuff.

It would probably be simpler if you were to 'downsize' the hair size and length. Like, take the basic shape of Goku's hair, but make it much shorter and closer to the head. That's the only way I figure you could get it to work and not look pretty ridiculous.

If you have hedgehog-type hair add some gel to it and you'll have spiky hair for the day but of course it's never as big as on the manga/anime neither blonde unless you are or intend to change the colour of it.

Remind me in about 2 months. I'm getting a haircut in about an hour, actually. Walking up and down a cold windy campus 5 hours a day every day with long hair is a pain.

I used to as well, had like Edward Elric length hair at one point till the Mrs. get fed up of sucking hair up her nose when we slept so she cut it off when I was sleeping. Now I'm less Edward Elric and more Shinji Ikari. I miss the Elric...

In my opinion, it's hard to get it right! I agree with Gyt Kaliba about making sure the hair is short. There's a lot of cosplay I see and the hair looks ridiculous because it doesn't look very natural. I know spiky anime hair generally isn't natural, but it doesn't look right to me; especially when people over do the hair gel and it looks really clumped together and messy! XD

Will it ever look as full and angular? Nope. Well, not unless you can mind plastering it with gel to foam inserts, but it is MUCH easier to do that with a wig since then the hard work has to be done only once and you can then just stick it on at a con and go.

Not Goku, but using real hair, this is one of my personal favorites.

The shaping is superb, in my opinion.
