Are Saiyans Impervious to all weapons?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

In the manga, according to the Daizenshuu, it's a sword that is refined through the future's special technology.

It did in the movie. But in the anime, that follows more or less the manga story, unless you actually believe Tapion and Hildegarn showed up on the world of Future Trunks, its not the same sword.

It's not a finely-tuned supercollider, it's a knife. You stick them with the pointy end, that's it.
Pretty much this, thought I think Zorro summed it up best.

The two swords are identical, and the end credits imply that Future Trunks has the same sword. Plus, it is stated in the video games that Tapion gave the sword to Future Trunks.

The anime has more extra events than the manga has. M13 fits in the continuity, and Trunks has a sword in GT (even though he never used it outside of openings), so it's not impossible for Tapion, Hildegarn, and Hoi to show up in Future Trunks' world.

Any part of Hildegarn's body would have completely wrecked the strongest fighters in Future Trunks' world and without the Dragon Balls, Tapion could not have been released from the music box.

Toei used the same design for Tapion's sword that Future Trunks' sword had and then made Trunks keep the sword as a homage to Future Trunks. That's it. Claiming that Future Trunks' sword is Tapion's sword is just completely ignoring the continuity issues.

Hoi could open Minoshia's music box with Dragon Balls, so he could have found another way to open Tapion's box as well. It's also possible that while Tapion was released, Hildegarn wasn't fully revived, and Gohan or Trunks were forced to kill Tapion while he had sealed in him Hildegarn's whole body, like it almost happened in the movie as well, and thus, killed Hildegarn.

Anyway if you go by the movies Broli with a power level of 10,000 got wounded by a knife.
Wasn't it King Vegeta who stabbed him? If so it's understandable, Since I doubt BoS Kid Goku is more durable than baby Broly.

Hoi traveled across the universe to Earth because he could not find another way to open the box, so the possibility of another way is pretty slim. And even if there was another way, there certainly wasn't another way on Earth, so even if Hoi came to Earth, he would leave once he realized that the Dragon Balls were no more, in search of another way.

So, I see no conceivable way for Tapion to be released on Earth.

And even if we could think of a way, it would require so many assumptions beyond what happened in the story of the anime, movie and manga, that its basically fan-fiction, and not a real interpretation of the anime, movie and manga.

Didn't Hoi come to Earth because that's where Tapion's music box was sent?

Ιt's a complete untold story, so of course it's gonna be fan-fiction.

Thank you. If it looks like a duck, and it sounds like a duck....

If anything, wouldn't the additional gravity help? More momentum for stabbing or something.

Not sure, don't remember. I was under the impression that he already had it. Anyway, even if it was, Hoi would get the box and leave once he didn't figure out a way to open it on Earth. Goku tried to open it himself so, without the dragon balls, there would be no way to do it on earth.

And, as you know, fan-fiction is completely irrelevant. There's no problem with a fan-fiction that tells a story of how Tapion's sword is actually Future Trunks' sword, but that interpretation is simply not possible in the actual official stories.

A farmer with Trunks' sword wouldn't cut Freeza.

The sword isn't a part of the body, you can't channel your ki into it. Not until Goten and Trunks invent the swordsman school prior to the events of DBO, anyway.

Then why is there an aura around Trunks' sword?

Because it wouldn't look cool otherwise. A guidebook remarked that it was the sword's properties that rendered Trunks capable of slicing Freeza with it.

Really any normal object could do a huge amount of damage if there was enough speed/force behind it.

I doubt the swords used in DBZ are made out of the same material as those used to make swords in real life. There are probably vast numbers of different metals we aren't familiar with in the DBZ universe. Take Katchin for example.

My point is, even if someone 10x stronger than Trunks used a basic sword against Trunks, it would BREAK into pieces. There are metals in DBZ tougher than steel or Iron obviously. Not saying the weapon actually gives Trunks an advantage, NO, just saying that any knife you have in the kitchen right now, wouldn't be useful any battle even if you had super saiyan powers.
