Don't know if anyone will be interested in this, but still. After having been screened on Latin American and Italian cinemas, the movie is coming to Spanish theatres.
The company which owns the rights had announced a DVD release, but they have said that it will be on theatres too. And there are many reasons to believe that at least part of the original voice cast will be present.

It'd be insane if America never gets a Battle of Gods release. Heck, I don't care if it doesn't make theaters, just put it on a disk!!

It'll definitely get a US release, I don't think that has ever been in any doubt. It has already been addressed by Funimation more than once that it's not a title that they were able to get their hands on immediately due to Fox's 'involvement'. They speculated that it would be 2014 at the earliest before they could do anything, and, well - it's still early 2014. Sit tight!Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:It'd be insane if America never gets a Battle of Gods release. Heck, I don't care if it doesn't make theaters, just put it on a disk!!
Whether or not it will get a theatrical release is another question all together, but if I were to guess - I'd say it might get a limited run at best, as to cater for a small, yet enthusiastic, niche market.

I would imagine we will hear something soon. The new Tiger & Bunny movie is getting a limited release, so I would imagine BOG will likely as well. I do find it annoying how fans talk about how long waiting for the film to come out by 2015, but yet DBZ fans waited a whole decade for the post-DBZ Movie 3 films to come out in the US. If you can wait 10 years to watch DBZ Movie 4 - 13 dubbed then you can wait another year for BOG to get dubbed.

Movie 4 cane out in 2002. Barely half a decade. Also not everyone waited or done research to see when they was made. Most wasn't born or old enough to remember the original air dates.

I'd have to agree with this for the most part. I don't wanna go all 'bitter old fan' here, but good lord has the internet and the things it's brought made people a lot more entitled than they used to be. Back when I first became a fan, we were happy just to see clips and read descriptions of things we may or may not ever get to see, and we LIKED it. ...Well, we managed, at any rate.Hellspawn28 wrote:I do find it annoying how fans talk about how long waiting for the film to come out by 2015, but yet DBZ fans waited a whole decade for the post-DBZ Movie 3 films to come out in the US. But yeah, as eager as I am to see Battle of Gods in English and get my own copy on DVD, what wait we've had so far really isn't too awful bad yet. It's all just a matter of time really though, and even if FUNimation for some reason isn't able to put it out themselves now, I have a feeling they'll still wind up with it eventually even if it's years down the line.

Dragon Ball Z in general was late to the US. Our show wasn't released until way years after Japan did it. That's why the movies were late.

I think the thing is that movies 1, 2, and 3 were at least released somewhat relative to where the show was at in the dub at the time, but by 2001, the dub had pretty much gone into the Buu arc and it was really odd seeing the movies from 4 on slowly but surely come out, going long after the series dub had been finished.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:Dragon Ball Z in general was late to the US. In retrospect it sounds silly, but at the time it seemed like a much longer time had past simply because of how far the dub had gone without another movie release. Personally, by 2001 I had pretty much seen the majority of the movies thanks to fansub tapes and I honestly thought they would never dub any more movies, especially after seeing movie 12 and figuring they would never be able to get away with Hitler's scenes in the US. I was really surprised when Movie 4 finally got released in the US. And I remember being really upset when the dub didn't keep the original music like the previous 3.

Hopefully the scenes make the others actually competent, the unforgivenly shallow fight scenes? At least for Gohan, Piccolo and Gotenks?
Meh....They'll probably be more fight scenes with God Goku -___-
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

I don't think so, it would undermine Beerus' overwhelming power. The guy beat Super Saiyan 3 Goku in one hit (and one projection to the ground before that, okay...), he's so on another level that any difference of power between the warriors is irrelevant as long as they don't become Gods, their only way not to be beaten in seconds against such a wonderful warrior! Only a surprise rage boost can hold a few seconds against Beerus, and even that ends up with no results (as in "one little finger on the forehead" instant defeat).SingleFringe&Sparks wrote: Hopefully the scenes make the others actually competent, the unforgivenly shallow fight scenes? Nah, I think Gohan and the others must be beaten just like they are in the original, that's how Beerus should treat meaningless insects like them, which are bothering him while waiting for an actual true warrior to step in. (that's not how I see those great characters in general, that's just how they must feel in comparison to the supreme God warrior).
It's like you're in a high tech armor, and in front of you, you have a scarab, a wasp, a bee, an ant: from where you are, you crush them all the same regardless of the difference of "power" between them and who's stronger than who. The wasp (let's say Vegeta) might take you by surprise if it's angry and fly around you quicker than you can catch her for a few seconds, but the multiple stings still had no effects through your armor and you end up crushing it like the rest.
A handful of insects - regardless of their variety and personal assets - are just that against an super-armored man, and insects are all that Beerus has in front of him except for Whis and the Super Saiyan God.

They should have the Kais suggesting SSJ3 Vegetto as a probable win
to Goku and have him shoot it down because he wanted to try SSJ god.

Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

What last pair? Elder Kaioshin and Kibitoshin have had earrings after the Buu Arc. They had them in Battle of Gods. Plus, Kibito was shown to be able to create them when he gave Gohan the Kaioshin garb.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:Unfortunately cocky little Vegeta and Goku smashed the last two remaining Potara ear rings.

My two biggest complaints of this movie are:
1. If you're going to give Vegeta a temporary rage boost, why not just go ahead and give him Super Saiyan 3? At this point what does it hurt?
2. Was definitely not a fan of the way Super Saiyan God is obtained. Was ridiculously terrible.
Everything else was pretty much par for the course for post Cell Saga Dragon Ball. Same characters continue to be as relevant or irrelevant as they once were.

I honestly think we wont get another DB Product that doesn't focus on Goku and Vegeta.Vice wrote: Same characters continue to be as relevant or irrelevant as they once were.
Then again, we did get Episode of Bardock....

I would like to see Vegeta going SSJ3 under some serious, dramatic and critical situation and not because a rabbit-like enemy did hit his wife.

Which saddens me since I find both super uninteresting at this point in the story.Kid Buu wrote:I honestly think we wont get another DB Product that doesn't focus on Goku and Vegeta.Vice wrote: Same characters continue to be as relevant or irrelevant as they once were.

I still want a prequel on Oolong and Puar at school damnit.

That would suck. The new animation would ruin the original spirit once again.Kid Buu wrote:I still want a prequel on Oolong and Puar at school damnit.
But at least, it would be interesting to see a dragonball prequel...

Despite my enjoyment of Vegeta being placed in awkward situations where he's got to use creative means to solve stuff, my favorite Dragon Ball arc is the Vegeta-less 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai. I'd love to see a post-DB, pre-Z special, but I know I'm never gonna get that (closest thing was the mini Goku and Chi-Chi arc post 23rd, and partly DBZ movie 1), so I can definitely understand that situation.
