Ah, Tenchi in Tokyo. The worst part of the TM franchise until the third OVA came around.

Sounds like Kikuchi's done a marvellous job (as always) for Tenchi in Tokyo score although that might distract me from focusing on the series itself.

Again, I think this problem was made to be a bigger deal than it really was. Also, I like the music, so I don't mind hearing it a lot. "Hardly watchable" seems a tad strong since I imagine that you do like the music.there was very little to no variety which led to repetitiveness and annoyance making it hardly watchable.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
For what it was, I've always seemed to enjoy what Kikuchi brought to Tenchi in Tokyo despite it sounding so different compared to the other Tenchi series music. Around the mid 90's, Kikuchi had an interesting touch of "modern" electric guitar to his music, of which can be heard in his score for the latter half of DBZ movies and TV series. Yet I always felt that his score for Tenchi in Tokyo always seemed to have it's own identity as well. It really is a good example of his range as a composer when you hear he's capable of softer/romantic tunes and not just his happy-go-lucky/fast-paced action he's known for.dbboxkaifan wrote:Whoa this right here is obviously from Dragon Ball Z there's no question about it.TheRed259 wrote:And this is like Tapion's and Hirudegarn's theme. Funny enough, I remember watching Tenchi in Tokyo on US Toonami right after DBZ aired around 2001/2002 but it wasn't until years later that I realized both series were originally composed by the same guy. Yet we had only the replacement music for DBZ and the original Kikuchi music literally RIGHT after it. Goes to show that Kikuchi really could've had a chance with DBZ if they just kept it.

I just got this quote off of Funimation's Facebook feed.
Either that, or I missed the point. Hopefully this isn't another anime.
While it's not really out-right saying anything, I think we can make a fair guess. If you're a FUNimation subscriber, not only do you get access to all the video content on our site, but you also get first dibs on some announcements. Like, oh, say a certain highly anticipated English cast announcement for a certain colossally popular series.

That's too vague to make any assumptions. They have other famous series it's not just Dragon Ball Z (Kai is a product of its own).Patrick wrote:I just got this quote off of Funimation's Facebook feed.

However, FUNimation posted a picture of a gaming convention they were at and they had Dragon Ball Z Kai promo so perhaps some new info they told those who were there? I dunno. There isn't much point trying to advertise Kai for the 1-98 eps now when the attention's all on the Majin Boo hen.

And it was announced to be receiving an English dub so it points to AoT.

Back on-topic, those three screens of Majin Boo hen seem to look promising but then again, they're too small to say anything about their picture quality, one thing's for sure, it's widescreen and that's a good thing (it's being consistent with the Japanese broadcast of 1-97).

As long as the home release is still 4:3 like parts 1-8, I could care less about the broadcast version's ratio.

I'm a self proclaimed quality whore, meaning I get it on the highest quality/definition available. As long as the blurays are 4:3, I got no problem.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
^ Well, I always thought that it was too bad that we ultimately had no real choice: have a HD 4:3 version (Blu-ray) or a LD 16:9 version (DVD).
If you want high definition AND widescreen, you're screwed (zooming on the 4:3 version cannot compare to the smart-cropped version and drastically decreases the resolution).
But I understand that it is not possible to have both visual masters on Blu-ray:
- either that would mean there are very few episodes on one disc since one of them is encoded twice in a different way, making it twice the number of discs required for the same amount of episodes! This is not commercially viable!
- or that would mean making two different Blu-ray collections! That is not commercially viable either!
So I understand that they had to made an obvious choice here, and they did the right one I guess with that division.
And I still have the ultimate versions I want, on top of the official French release (for the new accurate French dub), so...

BTW, the Cantonese version currently broadcasted in Hong Kong on J2 (HD & 16:9) will be finished soon, I really hope Deltamac (or another company) will release some Blu Ray boxes, as it was broadcast.

Oh wow, the Cantonese version is being broadcast now? If you keep up with that information you should totally send me a PM if you ever hear about a company releasing that on BD. And this is with a Cantonese dub as well? How does it measure up to the Japanese and English in comparison? I'm always excited to experience DB in new languages all the time.ShinGaijin wrote:Unless you have kept the original japanese HDTV version, yes, and that's a shame...Cold Skin wrote:^ Well, I always thought that it was too bad that we ultimately had no real choice: have a HD 4:3 version (Blu-ray) or a LD 16:9 version (DVD).

Re: Buu Saga Kai
I can pretty much confirm that the FUNi tease has to do with Attack on Titan, not Kai. They're getting ready to announce the show's cast at Anime Boston, and are already slowly trickling out some cast members if ANN's show listing is to be believed, so...yeah. That and, much as we're anticipating Kai's return, there's no denying that Attack on Titan - love it or hate it - is pretty much the most anticipated new show coming out here.

Hi all,
I contacted Madman & Chris Sabat via facebook to see if they would give anything away about Kai, and here are their responses:

As you can see, Chris did see my message, but chose not to reply (could be an NDA) though he did reply to me last year shortly after Sean Schemmel & Kyle Hebert made their "announcements".
Madman, I'm not sure they know anything to be honest.
Take Care!

Yeah the big announcement was AoT.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... 480&type=1
They know AoT's got way more hype and Dragon Ball Z is more profitable than Kai, so they'll just reveal it when they have to, Kai isn't the hype-machine.
I'm not hating on Kai but I just really liked it for the Saiyan arc through Freeza's arc, and that's it. Maybe the Majin Boo arc of Kai will regain my interest.
