Chances of FUNi re-releasing Seasons 1-4 with new Soundtrack

Post by PhoenixEX » Fri Mar 14, 2014 1:03 pm

I'm talking about the upcoming Buu Saga Kai Soundtrack. I'd hate to have the old sounding Kikuchi from episodes 1-98 and then just having the soundtrack abruptly change...

I think the only way this would happen is if TOEI went back and did it first. I can't see TOEI spending the time, effort, and money to do this. Who knows, though. If I'm not mistaken, aren't all of the previous Japanese Kai home releases out of print? Whenever I went to look into the Japanese DVDs and Blu-rays, I could only find a select few. Maybe with Buu Kai coming up TOEI will bring the first 98 episodes back into print with the new score. It's a long shot, but I suppose there is a slight possibility.

Don't count on it. TOEI's already done what they had for episodes 01-98 and so it's very unlikely that they'd go back again.

Besides, even if they were to release it with the new soundtrack they would have to rename it or anything or else no one could tell the difference.

They've already re-released the DVDs and Blu-rays with the Kikuchi score about a year ago, so there is no possibility of that happening.

That would be a major pain. In the last week I've just gotten ahold of seasons 3 and 4, and got 1 and 2 last year. It would be very irritating to have to go through the trouble of re-purchasing them with new music, and it would be quite counter-effective, but as numerous others have said, it's almost 100% unlikely they would do something like this.
"You haven't figured it out yet? I'm the Saiyan who came all the way from Earth for the sole purpose of beating you. I am the warrior you've heard of in legends, pure of heart and awakened by fury. That's what I am. I AM THE SUPER SAIYAN, SON GOKU!" - Goku, Dragon Ball Z Kai, The Angry Super Saiyan! Throw Your Hat in the Ring, Son Goku!

As much as I think this would be awesome, perhaps with a Tri-Audio option or something, I do admit that there's no reason for them to do this at all. Also, I don't really think it's that jarring for the music to suddenly change in the third arc. We Americans are used to having it change towards the end of Goku's battle with Burter and Jeice in Episode 68 (In Z, not Kai) . That was roughly the middle of an arc. The Buu arc is also so different that it practically deserves to be its own series, in my opinion.
