Dragon Ball Z Season Blu-rays Release Schedule
I think this will be an interesting topic but does anyone have a hypothesis on why Funimation is going super speed on the releases of these blu rays?? I think this is the first anime property by funimation that has had a release schedule this fast!! Ill post my hypothesis below!! Feel free to agree/disagree or better yet come up with your own

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
I'm assuming they're releasing these fast, so they don't oversaturate the market anymore than it already is by the time the Kai Buu arc is out.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
My Hypothesis
1) Funimation wants to get these released and in the consumers hand as fast as possible so they do not have two dragonball related products both doing the Buu Saga at the same time. In otherwords they want these all released by the time they do part 9 of the Buu Saga for Kai.
2)They have another release in mind for blu ray and are trying to cash in as fast as possible in order to release a more proper and better release.

Season 5 - June 2014
Season 6 - August 2014
Season 7 - October 2014
Season 8 - December 2014
Season 9 - February 2015
I think it'll be released within each of these months.
I was hoping for 2015 to be cleared off the Season BDs but there was that delay.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
How fast did the Orange Bricks get released? I was buying them before I joined this site I believe and didn't bother keeping up with them. But maybe their pumping these out fast because the Boo arc of Kai is around the corner? Orrrrrrrrrrrr MAYBE JUST MAYBE! We'll be getting the Dragonball Dragon-boxes? I don't believe they'll come out with a level sets type release so soon after the Blu-ray.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
It very well may be option 2, but I hope they wait a bit instead of just releasing it right away like last time. Since they've already done the work for the 4x3 transfer "since that is what they seem to be working from" it makes sense to almost release it raw.rs_chaosmaster wrote:My Hypothesis

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
My gut is telling me an uncropped remastered version of DBZ is coming out; they already have more than half of the work done with this release, and are using the money from to sponsor the extra work needed to release the 'DEFINITIVE' release.
Maybe, it's a DB blu-ray. But Z is the creamiest of milk.
This is ultra fast, suspicious.
Also buu kai in my pocket.

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.
Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
I'm pretty sure the Orange Bricks were roughly 2 years. I started buying them back in (winter?) 2007 when they only had Season 1 & 2 released. And Season 9 came out in June 2009.samuraix123 wrote:How fast did the Orange Bricks get released? I was buying them before I joined this site I believe and didn't bother keeping up with them. However if anyone remembers the actual dates for Season 1 & 2's release, feel free to correct me.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
I have a hard time believing that Funimation would come out with something like that so soon after this release. at-least I hope they wouldn't?
Doesn't matter. I'm through with buying Z for a while besides the Boo saga of Kai. I'm hoping they will re-remaster the movies like the level sets or they release Dragonball and the movies Dragon-boxes.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
FUNimation should re-release the Dragon Ball Z films on Blu-ray with a proper remasterisation and with the other two English dubs, i.e, "Ocean Dub" and the "Big Green Dub".samuraix123 wrote:How fast did the Orange Bricks get released? But the "Big Green Dub" belongs to AB Groupe so they might demand too much to use it on a FUNi release.
Android 17 on the "Big Green Dub" sounds so cool and modern he's by far my favourite English VA of #17. Here's the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1fxIZEG45w

It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

I would almost agree and say yes I want it too but I'm aight
This happens every time I think about the big green dub. I want to meet someone who actually grew up with it and says the Funimation dub sucks and the Japanese dub sucks, Big Green is the only way to go! I know someone out there like that exists. they have too.
Could Funimation also be prepping for Battle of Gods release?

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
As much as I hate to say it, I seriously doubt the theory that they're using this release to fund some "definitive" release. Yeah, that's what WE wants, but Funimation has no reason to want that - it simply doesn't make them money.

1. Buu Kai
2. BOG
3. more Dragon Boxes, DB more than likely. I would think they would bring all the movies out at the same time.

Nah ^ I don't really see them bringing them out all at the same time because that wouldn't really be profitable for them would it if they did a re-remastering job like the level sets.?

sorry should've made it more clear, not literally at the same time. They would have to get DB movie masters first before they release The Movies Dragon Box.samuraix123 wrote:Nah ^ I don't really see them bringing them out all at the same time because that wouldn't really be profitable for them would it if they did a re-remastering job like the level sets.?

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
Haha that's okay buddy.
I think if Funimation decided to release another release of Z right after this one, they're asking for trouble. I think.
I'm really really REALLY! Hoping for the original Dragonball series on the Dragon-boxes more than the DBOX The Movies. I've been going through the original series and I grew up hearing the Japanese intro(What little bit I watched of the original series back in the day) and I've been watching the show in English and I hate switching the audio in the beginning back and forth lol it is laziness on my part. lol But I also heard that not all the ending credits are included on the Blue Bricks? someone can gladly correct that.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Season Blu Rays Release Schedule
Well if FUNi is planning on another Dragon Box it would be DB and not the movies because they don't have the movie masters for DB and if they did they would hold off and release the series first. I know what your saying bud, I haven't watch the original DB series yet because of FUNi as I want to see it with everything intact. I never bought a DBZ release until the Dragon Boxes and I'm gonna do the same with DB.samuraix123 wrote:Haha that's okay buddy.I think if Funimation decided to release another release of Z right after this one, they're asking for trouble. I already have the japanese dragon boxes for the movies, gt and dragon ball, but it would be nice if funi could release either of them. This would be a good year for funi to release one of them.
