Your #1 Kikuchi/Shuki/Nathan/Faulconer/Menza/+ tracks.
Re: Your #1 Kikuchi/Shuki/Nathan/Faulconer/Menza/+ tracks.
Sorry for being off-topic, but personally I hate seeing M814 being called "Ginyu Force's theme" because it actually is Garlic Jr.'s theme. That title never makes sense to me and it's not even for the specific piece. It's a title for a medley track with two different pieces in it.
Re: Your #1 Kikuchi/Shuki/Nathan/Faulconer/Menza/+ tracks.
That's a tough one. for me it would be:
Shunsuke Kikuchi: Hisô na Tatakai
Shuki Levy: The World's Strongest Team
Nathan Johnson: SSJ3 Goku Vs. Janemba
Bruce Faulconer: Peaceful Day (allthough I prefer the GBA version)
Mark Menza: Movie Opening Theme
Akihito Tokunaga: DBGT BGM #38 (couldn't find a name, sorry)
Kenji Yamamoto: Vegeta's theme from Super Butouden 1
Toshiyuki Kishi: The Heat RB1
BT2 Team: Dark Half'
Missed out Takaki, I couldn't think of any I really liked.

You're right, I just went with the first name I thought. I thought more people would understand it that way rather than writing the M-number.kei17 wrote:Sorry for being off-topic, but personally I hate seeing M814 being called "Ginyu Force's theme" because it actually is Garlic Jr.'s theme. I'll make up for my mistake. In my version of the soundtrack, the name is "M-814-Garlic Jr. Beats Up On Goku And Piccolo".
Other cool ones are "M-742-The Suspenseful Intermission" and "The Fallen (Unreleased)", this last one being the one which plays during Piccolo's death.

Ah that's 16's theme. Love that one. One my favs for sure, though I do like Mike's original best for a lot of reasons: better sounds, didgeridoo, preserved drum rhythmic complexity. Mike's drums in the original are Godly...I actually did a study on them a few years ago.Wibbs wrote:That's a tough one. for me it would be:

I can't really choose the number one song for each composer, but here are the few that I routinely listen to from each composer,
.
Shunsuke Kikuchi: Son Goku is the Strongest After All!, Makafushigi Adventure (Instrumental), Garlic Jr's. Theme, Gathering energy for the Genki-Dama, The Sleeping Princess Chorus Of Doom (DB Movie 2), The Tragic Battle (DBZ Movie 8 ), M1623 and Sayonara Senshi-Tachi.
Shuki Levy: Rock the Dragon (Heroic version).
Nathan Johnson: Gogeta's Theme.
Faulconer Productions: Vegeta's theme, Ginyu Transformation, Hyperbolic Time Chamber theme, Gohan fights Freeza, Babidi casts his spell, Super Saiya-Jin 3, Calling out the Dragon, Piccolo's theme, Vegeta's Super Saiya-Jin theme and the Ginyu Force theme.
Mark Menza: Son Goku turns Super Saiya-Jin 4 (Also used in movie 6)
Akihito Tokunaga: Everything
Kenji Yamamoto: The Braveheart Challenges the Strong, The fierce warrior, The Saiya-Jin, Yushi No Gaisen, Dragon Soul (Orchestral), An isolated warrior, Trunks and Vegeta's themes from Super Butoden 2 and both next episode preview melody.

Shunsuke Kikuchi: All Makafushigi Adventure variants (Narrowing it down to ANYTHING was difficult enough. If I had to pick one, it would be the NEP variant.)
If I had to pick a non-opening track, it'd be Akuma No Burorī
Akihito Tokunaga: The Grand Finale ~ Mysterious Power
Kenji Yamamoto: Trunks' Theme (Shin Budokai 2)
Bruce Faulconer: Gohan Powers Up
Nathan Johnson: "Gogeta's Theme"
Toshiyuki Kishi: The Heat
Hiroshi Takaki?: "Gohan's Return to Earth"
BT2: Tie between Lonesome Wild and Lost Courage

I did find a Faulconer track I liked better than 16's theme, it's pretty similar though.

I think it fits the scene where Goku has a vision of Vegeta so well, I'd like to find a Japanese version so I could do a comparison but at the moment I'll just assume it's silent.

Good ear on the Nail's Gift track. I don't think anyone has ever caught that before
Vegeta's Vision is also by Mike Smith.
(edit again...I'm just now realizing how long that Nail's Gift track is... the thing I had edited in so many years ago was much much shorter. Maybe I had only found an edit of it?)

Then I owe my thanks to him. His tracks are great, they are so nice to listen to when you're working. Y'know until watching that I had no idea all this was played using a real keyboard and a guitar.cRookie_Monster wrote: Michael Lloyd Smith. He wrote most of the Faulconer Productions music.

Good ear on the Nail's Gift track. I don't think anyone has ever caught that beforeNail's Gift is actually what I had edited in for 16 when he first showed up[edit: started becoming more of a force for good] in the show...but the theme was way too short. I showed it to Mike and told him I thought the theme was perfect for 16. Mike had written Nail's Gift originally, so it was no big deal for him to find the original sequence and create a new longer theme for 16 based on it. That's how 16's theme came to be. btw, back then the track "Nail's Gift" had no name. I wasn't even aware it was released until just now.
Vegeta's Vision is also by Mike Smith.
Thanks for the insight.

Re: Your #1 Kikuchi/Shuki/Nathan/Faulconer/Menza/+ tracks.
Kikuchi: Easily M-1623 from Gohan's showdown with Bojack in Movie 9, later used to great effect again when Vegeta sacrifices himself to stop Buu. I mean, the Movie 9 suite in general is my favorite track, but I wanted to be more specific. Pretty much my favorite track in any DB-related production.
Yamamoto: "The Braveheart's Triumphant Return", which was used a few times, but my favorite time would be Goku's "I am the Super Saiyan, Son Goku!" declaration in the Freeza battle. I love how victorious it sounds.
Tokunaga: I don't know what it's actually called (thanks for never putting out GT BGM OSTs, Toei), but I believe it's nicknamed "Goku and Uub" and is perhaps the very first BGM used in the series. It kind of sounds like it belongs in a classic RPG on a game consol.
Sumitomo: "Birth of the Super Saiyan God", which gives a good, big impression of how momentous the Super Saiyan God form is as it's being created, but without overdoing it with the ominous chanting like some of the other tracks.
Levy: I don't know the name, but it's that recurring heroic theme. You know the one. One form or another is on every track on the official OST. It's probably the only memorable tune.
Faulconer: Even though the version of the scene it was used most notably in was terribly scripted and missed the point in the English dub, I'm going with "Time Chamber". Even with some artificial sounds, there is a genuine emotional resonance with this one, rare for Faulconer pieces.

Uh... so what was this, then?Bullza wrote:Don't care for any of the Kikuchi tracks, his music was terrible.
Anyway, I think it's high time I gave my thoughts for this topic:
Shunsuke Kikuchi: This is a tough one, but I think it's a toss-up between "The Darkest Hour" and "Scatterbrained", both from the original DragonBall, both unreleased.
Shuki Levy: The hopeful theme that usually plays whenever Goku arrives on the battlefield.
Nathan Johnson: Haven't heard enough of it for it to actually grow on me, so no favorite there.
Faulconer Productions: "Goku's Spirit Bomb", with "Freeza Begs" a close second.
Mark Menza: See Nathan Johnson.
Kenji Yamamoto: Probably "A Moment For Shuddering".
Akihito Tokunaga: Well... I like "One Last Reunion", but that's an arrangement of "Hitori ja Nai". I'm going to have to go with "Fugitives On The Run".
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.
Re: Your #1 Kikuchi/Shuki/Nathan/Faulconer/Menza/+ tracks.
The only japanese theme i really like is this one idk who made this song but its the only theme which doesn't sound outdated.
I almost love all of Falconer's music except for the scenes where it just doesn't fit.

Kikuchi - The theme that plays during the Goku and Dr. Uiro beam struggle
Johnson - Whatever plays during the first Vegeta and Zarbon fight, though I haven't heard much Johnson music
Faulconer Productions - Episodic Trunks
Yamamoto - A Disastrous Spectacle
Levy - N/A (I've only watched YouTube clips of the Ocean dub)
Menza - N/A (I've only seriously watched GT once)
Tokunaga - N/A (I don't know as I've heard any of his GT work)

It's pretty much impossible to pick only one Kikuchi track. Although I'd seen the Funi dub on TV, I first got really into Dragon Ball after watching the Japanese version on DVD, so Kikuchi's music is fundamentally Dragon Ball for me.
Kikuchi - M306, M309, M313, M1020, M1218, M1420
Kiyooka - Marugoto, Spirit vs. Spirit
Yamamoto - Battle Point Unlimited, The Biggest Fight ~Gekitotsu~
Shuki Levy - Rock the Dragon, but it has to be the Hindi version, which I find very entertaining, especially how they add lyrics to the guitar solo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4PIw69j9Mk)
Faulconer - Weird Circus (reminds me a lot of the Kamen Rider ZO soundtrack), "Dragonball Z" (the Faulconer intro music, since I have a bit of nostalgic attatchment to it)
Ocean dub - Whatever track it is that plays in this scene: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oywDpLs1lC4

Kikuchi - I don't know the official name of it, but I have a link here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NISB9fJDXtI
Shuki levy - The end title theme, where it plays an all instrumental version of rock the dragon.
Nathan Johnson - the episode recap theme.
Faulconer - Groovy Discotech. This song played once in the entire series, but it played during one of the times that SSJ2 Gohan was staring Cell down. It made the scene super intense.
Menza - I dislike Menza's GT soundtrack, but I think he did a great job with the movies. I couldn't find the names of the themes, but it's between when goku turns super saiyan in the return of cooler and the theme that plays when you see the spaceship drifting through space.
