Going into watching this, I was a little bit wary of more comedic/light content in regard to character interactions, as I felt that the movie already tried to be a little too heavy on that - perhaps to its detriment, in that to me the protagonists rarely ever felt in any real peril. But honestly, having watched this new version yesterday, I think that the film feels so much better weighted and balanced now.

It's hard to say whether this release was in their plans all along (which would make sense from a typical Toei-monetising perspective with another set of home releases to no doubt follow), or if indeed there were creative reasons behind the new inclusions too, and in fact there were elements of the theatrical cut that they genuinely weren't happy with.

I think that with the knowledge that some of the voice actors have actually gone back to record new lines for this fairly recently, I'd say that there could be at least some element of the latter,

One of my favourite things about these new scenes is that Mr. Satan's drunken behaviour is apparently so disturbing that Bulma's mom actually opens her eyes.

They open a couple of times in the film itself, including when Vegeta goes looking for Beerus under the tables, in the trash cans, etc.

He voices him pretty much entirely because he lived in the area and sounded enough like the previous dub voice back when Funi was looking for a replacement cast that weren't good enough actors to demand reasonable pay. He should feel privileged he lucked into that job.

I liked the recap. The reanimated scenes were nice to watch. Some of it looked a little off though

Looks like the special edition has a Chinese fansub now!
But better to wait for these guys to re-upload the file. I hear there are problems with the file right now with the loss of audio at a certain point to the film.

I just feel bad for the guy, at this point.
I don't.

It's one of the reasons I don't like him. He's incapable of being professional and biting his tongue towards fans who are are perhaps not aware of the volume of which he gets asked things. It just strikes me as incredibly rude and self absorbed. You literally scroll down his feed and it's just him going off at people.

He's also bitten people's heads off for bringing up DBZ in any form at all. Responding with things like 'I'm Sean Schemmel, an actor, I am not the character Goku'. It just strikes me as very pompous. No shit, you're an actor, but you're most famous for playing that damn character so either embrace that or be polite if someone innocently brings it up.

His whole attitude just gets to me. I really dislike the guy.
That was me that Sean Schemmel responded to. I simply asked if he knew anything about what was going on with Ocean's version of Dragon Ball Z Kai, and he just went off sounding like a douche. When I brought up the "Here is why the Ocean group dub will suck" post he made on FaceBook, he tried to deny that he ever made it and called me "obnoxious." He also ended his first response to me with #bizzareleapinlogic. He should be fucking grateful that people are even asking him questions, honestly. He got his job by pulling off a decent impression and nothing more.

Bulma's mom with her eyes open is kind of MY GOD IT'S FULL OF STARS.

As for Schemmel, maybe he just doesn't want to keep answering the same f***ing stupid questions ad nauseam about "WHEN ARE YOU DUBBING BATTLE OF GODS ARE YOU DONE WITH THE BUU ARC OF KAI YET HEY WHEN IS THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THE JUMP SPECIAL COMING OUT?"

FFS, DBZ fans. It's getting to where some of you are asking for the dub of things on random YT videos. "ENGLISH DUB WHEN?" I don't think BulmaGurl894032 and her AMV channel on YouTube are privy to the details of Funimation's licensing and dubbing schedules.

Yeah, no shit. Ignore them. Be a professional. Don't go off on your little twitter tirade at people just because you're sick of your fans. It's not difficult.

Exactly - even if he lacks the tact and decency to conduct himself with dignity in the face of rabid fan questioning, the least he could do is just ignore them.

I mean, even as a d-list celebrity he's still somewhat of a public figure. This kind of stuff comes with the territory - if he can't deal with it, he should go work stack shelves at Walmart or something,

He's a F list celebrity, after celebrity chefs and the guys from Pawn Stars.

He's only slightly above satellite radio DJs and local state high school basketball stars.

Myself, I'm a K list celebrity, just above that guy who farted in the elevator that one time that you totally called him out on.

Well hey, he got an endorsement for his audio-engineering work from Audient, who are a reputable professional/pro-sumer audio hardware company. They don't just give their shit away to anyone - it's expensive, so the marketing factor of having Schemmel use their stuff must have weighed into the decision to go with him.

That puts him above satellite radio DJ's and local state high school basketball stars, not least as his work has been broadcast all around the English speaking world, not just America.

The first official Spanish trailer came out today!

I don't know who voices Bills and Whis, but the rest of the cast is the original voice cast (with the possible exception of King Kai and Goten and Trunks, since they're talking as Gotenks, and it's difficult to tell).
