I messaged Viz on Facebook about possibly changing the translation for the Vegerot and H-ercule names in the Boo arc. This was their reply.

Since they use Kakarot instead of Kakarotto, it's only natural (and consistent) that they use Vegerot.

That is to be expected. There is still quite a bit of time before they get to the Cell arc though. Maybe if enough fans speak up they'll consider changing name.

Eh, I guess that argument works but it's just such a strange name. Steve Simmons opted to use Kakarot and Vegeto together and I've never seen that cause any issues among fans.

Good to read they're considering a new translation for the latter portion. Shame that we're stuck with Shakespearean Piccolo.

I didn't get any hint that they were considering changing anything from that response. To me, it seemed that was just a polite "no".

All I'm saying is that Vegerot is not an inconsistency. Hercule and Piccolo's early dialogue are.

*sigh* I really hate that they're going to continue using Vegerot and Hеrcule but the Dragon Ball Full Colour mangas are simply spectacular from start to finish.

At least they won't use Friеza thank freaking god. Phew.

I doubt they'll change the names but it wasn't a definite No, who knows maybe they'll change it later on.

Oh, wow. I totally misread their reply. Damn, sorry. That's what happens I try and read things when I'm horrendously ill.

Is Viz going to release the Freeza Saga full colors in the same every-other-month format?
If not, does anyone know when it might possibly release?
Just curious

Volume two was at my Books-A-Million yesterday, so I went ahead and snatched it up.

Nothing to report, really. Popo's lips are still edited in his few appearances, which was to be expected. Still no extras (except for the sound effect translation guide). If there's anything in particular that anyone wants to know, I'm happy to answer questions. :)

The Saibaimen are still "Cultivars" so I highly doubt names like "Vegerot," "Hercule," and "Djinn" are going to be corrected. Viz has defended their translation in the past and I don't think they see any reason to change anything.

Was kinda hoping they would do the VIZBIG route and display the separate volume covers like they did in the Rurouni Kenshin VIZBIGS along with author notes.

Yeah, these things feel really incomplete without title page and cover galleries. But the Japanese volumes didn't have them either, so I understand why they're missing.

Still, though, we know colored versions of all the title pages exist, so it bugs me that they're not included.

Alls I can say is, even if there's a slight chance of the names being revised, it's better to take some kind of action than none at all. So, just keep contacting Viz via social media, booths, or email and let them know you'd like the names changed back.

Maybe if they get enough consumer complaints, they might just go ahead and revise the names if/when they get to that material.

 "Hercule"? They put FUNimation's bullshit into the manga?

Now I'm glad that I didn't buy any of their DBZ manga after the Freeza saga. Until VIZ stops lying to customers and re-releases the DB(Z) manga completely unedited and uncensored they won't get any more of my money.

Sure, Vegerot and Djinn Boo are valid, because those can be considered "translations" of the original names. Hercule is not a translation; it's a copout because "we don't want to offend anyone even though we previously were trying to be accurate to the source material by, but now don't seem to care about accuracy to the source material, and would rather keep consistency with a popular, though inaccurate English dub made for the animated series."

It's the same line of thinking that caused made-up 4Kids names to end up in Viz's release of the One Piece manga, though they were adapting names accurately before then, and have created inconsistencies within their own product as a result.

I actually saw Volume 2 at Barnes and Noble yesterday. I didn't pick it up since I already ordered it at the comic shop I go to. Of course, if B&N has it, that likely means my comic shop had it a week early like they did with the first volume. Oh well.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Dont hold your breath. To them its not worth the time and/or effort. If it was they would have done so with these or the 3-in-1's.
