DBZ portion of Manga to be in full color?!

Reading the review on the main site, I'm starting to worry about the binding deterioration since I'll have to order it online and refunds/returns can be problematic. Did anyone else had problems with it?

My vol 01 came in a big bubble-wrap envelope in excellent state without damage (if it were ordered through the time of snow/rain I wouldn't risk it) though I was expecting it to be factory sealed because that's how new items usually are.

April 1st is still so far away and I want Vol 2 like now.

This image also explains why Popo has big lips: he was originally a lizard man, then a bird man with a robe, then a similar character but with big lips rather than a beak, an oriental man, and then the actual Popo (a mix between the oriental man and the bird man with big lips).

Aside from the cover art, the big news is that the release schedule is revealed: it'll be four months straight of releases, so presumably we'll get Artificial Humans & Cell volumes 4–6 in May, and Majin Buu vols. 1–3 and 4–6 in June and July, respectively.

I love how quick Japan gets this stuff out. Japan will be done with the "Z-era" full colors before the US even gets to the Freeza arc.

I dont know if I should post this here, but whats your opinion in buying used manga?? especially kanzenban editions. I just started to collect some kanzenban mangas, beginning with Dr. Slump, I have 12 out of 15 but its expensive!! After completing Dr Slump I will start with Dragon Ball, I dont know if I should buy it used, I'm very picky with my things... Today I went to Bookoff (used manga store) and many volumes of the dragon ball kanzenban were in quite good condition and at half price its really tempting.... but still, I feel like I will be missing something

thats why I come here, would I be missing something if I buy used? Did the dragon ball kanzenban contained some special bonus? like cards or something? I tried to look google it but found no information.

BTW I found some gems there!! I bought the Nekomajin Kanzenban for only 450 yen! and the volume 15 of Dr. Slump Kanzenban, both of which are hard to get and impossible to find in new condition, I got very lucky! (and still I feel like I'm missing something out of these 2 kanzenban, I hope they didnt include some bonus)

I got my entire Dragon Ball kanzenban collection used and I couldn't be happier. It's in fantastic condition and is right next to my Japanese Dragon Boxes as the jewel of my DB collection.

Japan's getting it really quickly and before we know perhaps they'll have the original Dragon Ball in this colour form too.

I'd have to say while that'd be a bit confusing there's the "Vol. 01 - Saiyan arc" so it distinguishes from "Vol. 01 - Emperor Pilaf arc" (not sure what the title is on the Dragon Ball manga) so not really a problem.

Upon my prodding, Julian translated some of them from the volumes over on Twitter. They're pretty interesting this time around:

Gero designed the Red Ribbon's weaponry. He built Artificial Humans because mechs can be captured and used by the enemy while Artificial Humans can think for themselves. 1-7 & 9-12 were completely artificial, but Gero couldn't control personalities. Too dark, too stupid, too nice, etc. #16 was modeled on Gero's dead son, a high-ranking Red Ribbon soldier long ago felled by an enemy bullet. In his affection, Gero made him powerful, but didn't want him to be destroyed in battle, so he made him gentle. #19 is modeled after a doll decorating the command center of an enemy base, which Gero brought home as a trophy.

Wow, between this and Bardock, what is with all the "tragic villain" backstories? I don't necessarily mind them, but why can't Gero just be a bastard? Not that losing his son automatically makes him "good", but it's kind of funny how new information attempts to humanize both Bardock and Gero.

I dunno, maybe Toriyama and company got wind that DB villains were never the most complex and felt like rectifying it.

Does this technically make 16 kind of like an evil version of Astro Boy? I don't know much about it, but I'm pretty sure that backstory was also "son gets killed, father creates android in dead son's likeness".

I don't get the impression that this is supposed to be justification for Gero being a bad guy. Obviously, he was already a part of the corrupt and evil Red Ribbon Army, and dragged whatever family he had into it as well. It just means that, like in real life, just because a character is a bastard doesn't mean they don't have things they care about. I really like this because it finally explains why #16 was so different to the others. I also get the impression from this that the Red Ribbon Army has been around for quite a while - at least, much longer than I thought from reading the manga.

I love these little side-stories that Toriyama's been throwing out there in recent years.
