It's the reason I'm living in the middle of a rice paddy in Fukui and loving every minute of it.

Um... well Dragonball is nostaligic to me because I remember watching the old, 80's dub when I was younger. Yeah it was a crappy dub but I still enjoyed it. Then DBZ came along about seven or eight years ago and I realized it was a sequal to that series I watched. Really the rest is history. Even though I was introduced to both series as the anime and the dubbed versions thanks to the internet I learned all I needed to know. Eventually I saw the entire anime (ok not all of Dragonball but I know what happens) and I am now a big fan of the manga's. I'm kind of a reverse engineered Dragonball fan...

Even though I'm almost a young adult I still like it. I have seen other animes and mangas and my interests have grown beyond Dragonball but Akira Toryiama's creation was a trendsetter. Dragonball is the same as Spider-man or Batman to me... comics that are both nostalgic but able to entertain adult fans as well. Even if I become disinterested in the coming years I'll always be a fan in some way.

Hmmm...

I like Dragonball because...

It has cool fight scenes and bright colors. No, for real, that's about it. It's fun to watch people get their asses kicked.
Just remember, everytime something bad is happening to you. Something even worse is happening to someone else.

Yep, just a show that's fun, and with no deeper meaning or impact on my life.

Well I can say I was about 7(born in 90) when I first saw DBZ on CN and I loved it, it captured my imagination. The storylines were good the characters were great, and the action sequences were cool. IT opened me up to a new form of animation.

So I can say I’m a fan of the FUNI dub version because I grew up on that version of the show but I also like the original Japanese too. I’m faithful to the series and I don’t nit pick things just because there is a problem in a tenth second of this or that frame and rant about how much I hate this and how much I hate that and this sucks and that sucks. The only thing I will say is that DBGT was a let down to me when I saw it in Japanese first and than saw it in English, the story was bad.

I can remember in 2003 I got bummed out because the series was going to end in America and I knew CN wasn’t going to air it again so I started getting DVDs so I can watch them on my own time, Only that in buying a whole lot of them I ran out of money.

But 9 years later (16 now) I hold the Dragonball/Z series in high esteem among action cartoons and anime. It’s had a huge impact on my life I wouldn’t be doing art or watching other anime because of it. No hopefully I will get a job and get some money and probably later get a credit card and start the DBZ collection I’ve always wanted.

Some memories I had of DBZ when I first watched it was seeing Kuririn die I was upset when that happen (I hadn’t seen DB yet). And also the first time I saw Goku turn super saiyan my friends and I couldn’t stop talking about that for weeks. Also when I first saw Trunks I thought that was the greatest character in that saga. I also remember ditching everything I saw doing and running into my room when it was 5 pm because DBZ was coming on I was glued to the TV for 30 minutes. Ahh the nostalgia of it all, I wish I could do that again maybe my kids will do that someday.

I wouldn't say it's made a massive impact on my life, but DB has almost always been there in some way. I started watching it when it first came out on Cartoon Network, and became obsessed almost immediately. Somewhere I still have all the cards, models and posters I collected for years. Not to mention the multitudes of DVDs, tapes, and books of manga. So yeah, DB has been an influence throughout most of my life. It was my first, and still much loved anime.

Just a cartoon to me. Sike naw.

But, I do admire the characters strive and hunger to be the best and their constant training. I think about that whenever I workout.

To me, Dragonball and its various spinoffs served as a sort of "gateway" anime. I was once a huge fan, and collected many episodes and merchandise, as well as manga issues.

My interest is at an all-time low, as it is, but I'm still very knowledgeable about the series and still play every new Dragonball game which comes out.
