Not really feeling the music much. I know Dragon Ball Z is an 80's-90's show, but damn.... this sounds way too 90's. I love the opening and ending themes though.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
So would it be fair to call this "Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Big Green Version"?

What? 90's? No. no, no! I have the feeling it sounds like 2010 or something.DarkPrince_92 wrote:Not really feeling the music much. I know Dragon Ball Z is an 80's-90's show, but damn.... this sounds way too 90's. I love the opening and ending themes though.

The soundtrack sounds like an early-to-mid 2000's anime to me.

I can genuinely imagine one of these bad-boys being used to synthesize the whole thing:

I mean hell, can you hear that machine-gunning at 0:03? That would have sounded crappy in 1982, let alone 2014.
This is beyond low-budget, this is zero-care sort of stuff.

Must be the similar sounding melody or chord progression.

I guess this is what happens when you produce a year long show without sponsors. This sure seems to be the cheapest DB show ever.Blade wrote:God, those synth patches are cheap and cheesy as hell.TheRed259 wrote:Toei uploaded the next episode preview (DBZ Kai Episode 100).

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Toei seem to have more shows out this Anime season than they have for a while - and judging from what I've seen of their general production quality, it seems Toei's decent production staff are looking even more thinly scraped than usual. Only Disk Wars: The Avengers looks relatively polished, which seems to be where they've distributed a good portion of their best animation talent. No doubt the fact that there's American money involved had something to do with that...kei17 wrote:I guess this is what happens when you produce a year long show without sponsors. Re: Buu Saga Kai
It could have been much worse imo, i'm still glad we're getting Buu Saga Kai. Better to get it cheaply done than to not get it all.
So, is it confirmed we're not getting reanimated scenes? Maybe this episode had no reanimated scenes for what we know, and next episodes will have some.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
I doubt it. I mean, it's done so cheaply this time that Toei is doing the remastering themselves instead of outsourcing it to Q-Tec.

Re: Buu Saga Kai
It looks fine to me. Better than the cropped over saturated nightmares that are the Orange Brick and Season Sets.
As long as the retail release is 4:3 I got no complaints.

Yeah, aside from the tint, I think it's pretty nice. The Buu arc was always stylistically very different and modern compared to its predecessors, so that rough look that some mistake for extra 'clarity' simply isn't present.KentalSSJ6 wrote:It looks fine to me. I'm also looking forward to the 4:3 release but I do have to hand it to them, this 16:9 crop is really nicely done. The extra width at the sides is huge!

Re: Buu Saga Kai
Actually i think the tint might actually help, if the previous comparisons are to be believed.

There are many moments in the Buu Saga where characters have really bad cases of sunburns, which always distracted me. Now they have really light skin and i found it much more pleasing to the eye.
In fact i remember that the Gotenks SSJ3 VS Super Buu fight looked horrible because of the sunburned skin colors.
Also i think SSJ3 will look cooler with the lighter aura thanks to the tint.
