Latin American vs Japanese Acting/Yelling Techniques

As a guy who grew up with the DBZ Latin dub with its beautiful original Japanese soundtrack (in Mexico), as far I am concerned the voices for each character in the Latin dub really fit well and their screaming performances were OK, but there were times where they lacked to give that high-pitch punch scream sound on certain power-level up scenes, yet overall the defunded studio (Intertrack is the name I believe) that handled the DBZ Latin dub did a great job, but it really sucks that they went bankrupt a long time ago.

So I got curious on how the new Latin dub cast sounded since i never really put much attention to it after this years, but after watching a few clips of it on Youtube and the new voice changes, sadly I can't give it all much praise due to some voices not fitting well on some characters, but due to the circumstances that it's a different studio handling the dub and Toei having a part on a decision on not having most of the old cast back due to monetary differences, etc. I guess it's better than nothing for Latin-American fans as they get to watch the show once again with more proper script dialogue, no fillers and all the improvements it offers.

I do gotta say that the KAI dub in English is well done (after so many years for you USA hardcore fans), especially sticking to the original script this time around and well... you all know how that goes for the USA and its DBZ dubs, but that's another story for a different thread. I also wanna give a big shout-out to all Latin-American members on this forums!.

I just watched the new Kai dub this weekend, and it wasn't as bad as I'd imagined it. I think the guy who voices Goku does a decent job at it, but I hate how Chichi sounds now. I always hated how she sounded in latin spanish, but now it's even worse. Gohan's voice is also pretty bad, he sounds like a little girl, and not in a good way. Kaiou-sama has a weird caribbean accent that made me laugh a lot, but Kuririn, Vegeta, Bulma, Yajirobe and Karin were fine. I think it's hard to take distance and objectively evaluate their performances because the original actors were basically my childhood, but I don't think the dub is as bad as some fans are painting it, and it's well acted.

It's still a great shame that they couldn't bring the original actors back. I wonder if they will recast Goten or use the same person who voiced kid Gohan in Kai? I hope he's re casted. And I also hope against all hope that the actor who played Gohan in Buu returns, because he was perfect for the role. (all of this assuming that we're even going to get a dub of the Buu part of Kai)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading that Laura Torres had been approached to voice Gohan in DBK, but she only voiced Goku in episode 1... and she wasn't even paid.

I think you will. However, so far the Latino Spanish dub of Kai has been based on the Nicktoons-censored version of the English dub of Kai. So if they decide to do that again, then you will get a dub of the Buu saga after we get our dub.

Yeah, that choice bothered me a bit too. It was weird hearing Tenshinhan called by a different name, but they did stick with Saiyajin and Namekuseijin (which I hadn't even realized what a mouthful it is to pronounce in spanish until I heard it last week haha). I'm really depressed that Laura Torres didn't reprise her role, but it sucks that they didn't even pay her for her kid Goku part in episode one. I at least hope someone more fitting is cast as Goten for the Buu part, but it's very unlikely. I'm just gonna have to get used to the new Gohan VA, I guess.
