Will you buy the Majin Boo arc when it's released on BD/DVD?
I'll most likely purchase just to watch it from start to finish, in fullscreen aspect ratio and hopefully by then they'll realise that the colours need to be fixed and an alternate Japanese audio track with the original score of DBZ by Kikuchi (wishful thinking).
I don't really care much about the Majin Boo Kai arc because its picture quality and soundtrack are disappointing but it's not to say I'll avoid it when it receives a home release on Blu-ray.

FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Depends on how the final video looks (hopefully it'll be an improvement over the TV airings).

Yeah, I definitely will. I own them all up to this point so I may as well finish it up!
It's not a bad way to bash through the series despite its flaws.

I will. Finally will be nice to have a consistent dub for the most part and this arc without atrocious pacing. If the music's an issue, I can always replace it myself. So, no big deal to me.

Honestly, I downscaled a TV airing to 360p (since given the cropping, that's how much of the footage we currently have would end up on a 4:3 DVD release, possible extra sidefootage aside) and other than the green tint (which I hope to god they fix on home releases), it's honestly pretty good. It doesn't hold up at all in HD, but in SD, it can actually be pretty decent.

When it gets released here (well, if perhaps) I'll definitely get the potential Seasons 5 and 6 on DVD. I don't have any Kai yet, but I will by the time they get released, as it's on my to-do list.

It's definitely worth considering. The Buu arc isn't one of my favorites, but a version with less filler is welcomed, and I want to support Funimation's improving efforts in dubbing this material.
I can't really bitch about the horrible English dub of DBZ, and then when presented with a better version refuse to support it with my money. I feel obligated to at least buy a couple of volumes.

I'll buy it for the dub and for completion's sake. I probably wouldn't watch the first few episodes more than once though, as I like the Saiyaman filler so I'd always switch back to Z for the part.

I'll definitely buy it on Blu ray so I can finally complete my Kai collection.

All the negatives have been completely disheartening, and it's looking like Kai will go down as just one big mess.
I guess I'll wait for my favorite episode to get released, whichever one that may be, and buy that single disc. Or, I'll get whatever discs will get me all the OP and ED animations creditless, if Toei sees fit to update them.

The question I wonder is if they will release Buu Kai in parts, or if they will be in seasons.

I'm sure it will probably be the same as it has been: parts first, seasons later.ultimateemail5000 wrote:The question I wonder is if they will release Buu Kai in parts, or if they will be in seasons.

I have all of Kai on Blu-Ray so far; I suppose Toei or FUNimation would really have to screw something up majorly with the video/audio/dubbing to prevent me from picking it up.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

If they release a unified score for the entire series, yes. Otherwise, I may just get my hands on the episodes scored by Yamamoto, if that.

It's too bad Funimation has no idea what "season" means.Freeza Soldier #156 wrote:I'm sure it will probably be the same as it has been: parts first, seasons later.ultimateemail5000 wrote:The question I wonder is if they will release Buu Kai in parts, or if they will be in seasons.

They know what it means they're just giving people an easier term to understand rather than selling volumes they split the show up and just label them season 1 through how ever many parts. That's how shows are separated in the U.S. and from what I've seen they only do this with Dragon Ball related material so they're trying to separate the show in a way that makes sense to the anime novice and they're piggy backing on a model that worked extremely well with their orange brick season sets.penguintruth wrote:It's too bad Funimation has no idea what "season" means.Freeza Soldier #156 wrote:I'm sure it will probably be the same as it has been: parts first, seasons later.ultimateemail5000 wrote:The question I wonder is if they will release Buu Kai in parts, or if they will be in seasons.

Sure is great we have you around to remind us of every little detail of how FUNimation is the worst company in the world.penguintruth wrote:It's too bad Funimation has no idea what "season" means.Freeza Soldier #156 wrote:I'm sure it will probably be the same as it has been: parts first, seasons later.ultimateemail5000 wrote:The question I wonder is if they will release Buu Kai in parts, or if they will be in seasons.
As for the topic itself? I'm going to wait it out but probably cave. This is my favorite part of Z.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Actually, Funimation is the best anime licensor out there. But the "seasons" thing bothers me, because DBZ never had seasons, DBZ Kai doesn't, strictly speaking, have seasons, and even when the English version of DBZ aired on American TV it didn't have as many stretches of "new" episodes as they like to indicate with their "season" sets.bkev wrote: Sure is great we have you around to remind us of every little detail of how FUNimation is the worst company in the world.. Considering they don't even seem to have seasons for cartoons in Japan, I really don't mind how FUNimation breaks it up.
However you slice it, DBZ did not, at any point, have nine seasons.
Just "Buu Arc Part 1 (Episodes 99-Whatever)" and "Buu Arc Part 2 (Episodes Whatever-WhateverYo)" and so on will do.
A season of television is just a set amount of weeks the show airs new episodes before breaking for continued production.
