So... is anyone still playing this game? If so, what do you think?
Overall thoughts?
Does it hold up over long plays?
Is it a decent game for friends to play against one another?

Looking forward to it, Mike! I hope this game bucks the trend of Spike's DBZ games being too repetitive.VegettoEX wrote:Yes yes yes yes yes and yes!

Well, it is repetitive... but there's a ton of love in there and everyone plays so differently. Lots to enjoy.

Re: J-Stars Victory Vs. (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
I love the game, but I don't like how they handled Toriko. His moveset makes him look like this is Toriko before learning Food Honor (aka Toriko from the crossover, while he has gotten much stronger since then, and has more techniques), the only thing that makes him from not being that version of him is the number of Kugi Punches he can do. And he doesn't even display his Appetite Devil...
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

any DLC on the JP store ?
Re: J-Stars Victory Vs. (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
Yeah, they seemed to pick and choose which incarnation of characters to add to the roster. While people like Luffy and Naruto have their most current designs and powers. Others like Gon or Bobobo lack later powers. I have to assume they went off from wherever the animated adaptations are.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I love the game, but I don't like how they handled Toriko. Would've liked for it to be Freeza and Toguro, with the whole 100% thing lolKamiccolo9 wrote:I'm guessing my line didn't make it into the game?Kamiccolo9 wrote:Shishio-"The flesh of the weak is food for the strong."KentalSSJ6 wrote:I really, really hope Vegeta and Toguro have a special conversation regarding Toguro whole power percentage thing with his muscles.

Re: J-Stars Victory Vs. (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
Even though I've owned the game for well over a month, I actually got time to sit down and play it.
The game is great if you're any kind of Shonen Jump fan. Every character is fun to play as and everyone plays differently. The story mode is semi-repetitive in each "arc" of the adventure has the exact same structure (Go to this point on the map; fight dudes.), but luckily you don't have to play through the entire story mode to unlock characters.
Haven't tried online yet, but this makes a great party game with a bunch of friends who just want to pick up an easy-to-play (hard-to-master), frenetic, flashy fighting game.
And the lack of anime songs isn't a problem for me; I just load a bunch of mp3s off onto the PS3, and boom: instant anime soundtrack.
So far, nothing's pissed me off, so: 4 stars.

Is this game good for just a DB fan?
Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

If it weren't for it being an import I would've said yes. DB gets a lot of love, but it does seem you'll get more out of the game if you like a few more series.xmysticgohanx wrote:Is this game good for just a DB fan?

The learning curve for the game isn't difficult at all. The controls are simple and easy to pull off. The language barrier doesn't really affect one's enjoyment of the gameplay IMO. Unless you're REALLY invested in what the lines of dialogue are between all these different characters.
But once you learn how to navigate the menus, it's a super straight-forward game.

Re: J-Stars Victory Vs. (JUMP crossover game) for PS3/Vita
So I got the game yesterday, and I`ve been playing it quite a lot!
Mini-review:
Info:
I ordered the regular PS3 edition of Amazon US. I don`t know any Japanese, so my experience was based on a mix of guessing, and the English translations found here: http://www.saiyanisland.com/tag/j-stars-victory-vs/
Gameplay:
The gameplay is really fun, and easy to learn! It`s not too shallow, but not intimidatingly deep. Anyone can try the game, and have fun. I`m not even close to being a pro, but I do enjoy playing, even if I lose! I played it with my cousin, and we had a blast! A RAGING blast.. ehe.. Anyhow!
Modes:
I didn`t really like the story and victory road modes, because of my limited understanding of Japanese, but I love picking different characters in the VS mode, and fight! Honing my abilities as a fighter is really fun, and the game makes it feel worth your time! I enjoyed putting in my own music as well, and it was very easy to do! And you can still unlock all the characters by just playing VS mode! You get points, which you use in the shop to buy characters!
Presentation:
The game looks wonderful! The graphics make all the characters look great, and the stages look spectacular! The sound effects sound great as well, and all the voice actors do a great job! The music is fitting, and the ability to create your own custom soundtrack is great!
Final Thoughts:
This game is great! The gameplay is fun, and the presentation is great! And even if you don`t like the "Story Mode" and "Victory Road", you can still have fun in the VS mode! I recommend it to everyone who likes any of the series included in the game!
Final Score:
8/10

One quick question though! When you are getting hit by a combo, is there anything you can do to get away?

You can do two players offline right? My best friend and I want to play the game with each other during the summer at home when she comes over.

You can, there's an option to do it. I'd test it myself to double check, but currently only have 1 controller.
