For anyone wondering how the BBFC would react to the earlier episodes of Dragon Ball, season one has been rated 15 for "sexualised nudity, frequent moderate sex references and gore".
http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/dragon-b ... -1-6-video, http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/dragon-b ... sc-2-video, http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/dragon-ball-video, http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/dragon-ball-video-0
It's also worth noting that the BBFC doesn't reference Blood Rubies on any of the four discs, so it looks like it won't be included in the UK version (unless it was submitted as a separate title).

CotBR is essentially an extra so I wouldn't be surprised that they didn't bother to classify it due to being simply an extra and not part of the main content.

On Fishpond they have DB Collection Part 1 for £48 and Part 2 for £47 which are pretty good prices but it's shipped from Australia so if they print the prices outside it's sure to be hammered with a customs fee.

Even extras have to be classified by the BBFC though; it's even possible for DVDs to get a higher rating based on the extras rather than the main feature. Although it is possible that Manga just hasn't submitted it to the BBFC yet.

Interesting, I wonder if the remainder will be all 12s?

Amazon UK has a higher quality picture of Banana Brick #1.

It looks kinda nice but the "Season" term and price (25x5 £125-ish) don't really make it worth it for me as I went with the DB Collection Parts (2 in total).

That's pretty much a standard feature of NTSC-to-PAL transfers, as 30 NTSC frames/second get mashed into 25 PAL frames/second. The effect is really only heavily obvious during pans, though it does depend on what frames are being merged.

I don't know why people here were being sceptical but Manga UK just confirmed it themselves that it does come with CotBR edited, as the Madman release already did.
As well as episodes 1-28, Season 1 also includes the feature "Curse of the Blood Rubies".

Just because BBFCrap doesn't mention it doesn't mean it won't be included.

Well extras have to be classified just like the main feature does, even the animated cards and menus from the Big green dub of the movies have been rated. It just seems that Manga has submitted Blood Rubies separately from the main episodes. That being said, Manga never submits the Japanese versions either, which I understand to be against the BBFC regulations, so maybe they just forgot to submit it and no one will notice.
The reason why some of us were skeptical was simply because Manga hadn't officially announced it yet and it seemed plausible that Blood Rubies would be missing from the UK version (I assume that the movies and TV series are a different license).

Straight outta Manga UK's Facebook page:
Manga UK wrote:The original Dragon Ball series comes to the UK starting with Season 1 (episodes 1-28) on 5th May!

You can pre-order this (along with the remaining seasons) today from Amazon UK at http://amzn.to/1l8OUWC

As well as episodes 1-28, Season 1 also includes the feature "Curse Of The Blood Rubies".
Sure, but....why? I guess that's cool.

So who here is going to pick this up day one?

I'd just like to know what the DVD menus look like, unless they're left intact as they are on the R4's Collection "Saga of Goku".

Image

I do remember that the Soul Eater UK DVD menus also differentiated from the actual DVD covers they came in, so I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

@Rukura not to be a downer but they already reported that earlier.

Oh, totally missed it until now.

Not that I'm complaining about extra content in a set, but it seems kinda weird to include it with the series. Though it sure beats charging for a movie set later on, if they spread the movies through the first four sets

They're just including it because it was already bundled with the R4's Saga of Goku set (Disc 2) and it's the edited version only in English.

Dragon Ball's 4-Movie Pack release saving grace is the packaging and its covers because the picture quality is a downgrade from the original "Movie Box" (2-4).

What? Really? I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around the idea of a set with 28 dual language uncut episodes and an edited dub-only movie. Might as well just take that out, if that's really the case.

It was originally included in the US' Trimark "Saga of Goku" set which was English dub only, and then in Australia they still kept it in the Extras' section called "Feature Film: Curse of the Blood Rubies".

This looks better than the Remastered CotBR but a shame it's English dub-only nevertheless.

It does seem bizarre to include the movie with season 1. In fact, I'd rather they didn't, since the inconsistency makes me feel uncomfortable

I think it's a cool bonus that they're including the movie. I haven't seen much of the BLT dub so this might give me some incentive to actually buy this despite already owning the Blue Bricks.

Also I have a question for anyone who owns the Madman sets. Do any of the other saga sets include any cool extras worth checking out?

If you watch the Saga sets with the Japanese audio the title episode cards will break the consistency completely, at one time they're all being shown in Japanese then in English and finally back to Japanese. For the most part they're in Japanese.

It's just info about the characters and trailers but it would've been cool if they included clean OP/ED although the opening is already textless.

Oh, God, that's awful.

I don't think I even want these anymore. I'd rather have English title cards than mixed title cards

There's another problem on one of the episodes from the Uranai Baba arc the subtitles are dubtitles all the way through the episode which is rather confusing and I don't expect this problem to be fixed on Manga UK's release neither.

Why on Earth wouldn't they fix stuff like that? This is really disappointing.
