What Channel should DBZ Kai the Final Chapters Air On?
I thought this would be a great forum for discussion and debate! Which Channel do you think DBZ Kai the Final Chapters should air for the English Dub when it is released?
Re: What Channel should DBZ Kai the Final Chapters Air On?
Moved to the Kai subforum.
I'd love for it to be shown "uncut" on Toonami, but it'll more than likely just end up on the networks already showing Kai.

My thoughts exactly that would be the perfect home for Kai The Final Chapters. Nicktoons is really not a great location for this show anymore. I think Funimation knows this and having to edit the show for them was probably a real pain!!

They did give it a lot of love and some of their promos may have even been better than Toonami's Z promo's but now at this point Nicktoons has really fallen in my opinion. The shows on their just dont fit for the addition of the Buu Saga of Kai. Plus the great thing is that DBZ Kai The Final Chapters will probably not be considered the same property contractually so now Funimation can likely let whatever cChannel they desire have the chance to pick it up!!

No. Nicktoons bought Cable airing rights to every DB anime property there is. That's why Toonami cant air it.
I dont get why people hate that Nicktoons is the new home for DBZ, they love DBZKai AND they air lots of other anime too! I say it fits just fine.

No that is not the case Toonami still owns the Z and Dragonball Cable rights other wise they would be showing it on Nicktoons. Even if they did own all the rights to every dragonball property as I stated before in the West it has been confirmed the Buu Saga in itself will be a new DB property titled Dragon Ball Z Kai The Final Chapters so Funimation could Easily use this to their advantage if they would rather toonami air it!!

Toonami said it themselves. Nicktoons has it and they have no desire to let go of it. And Toonami doesnt want it anyway.
You are right in that Toei might count DBZKai The Final Chapters as a new property but it will probably air on Nicktoons.

Well, outside of the nostalgia or the wish to see it on the same channel they used to watch DBZ on, it could also be because a lot of people don't get Nicktoons. It's not a basic channel that most people get. And given that their alternative to watching it on TV would be CW...'blue Popo' CW...yeah...I can see why they'd want it on a more readily available channel.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:I dont get why people hate that Nicktoons is the new home for DBZ, they love DBZKai AND they air lots of other anime too! That said though, I figure it'll be on the same channels it was before as well, and as I do get Nicktoons, I can DVR it.

More seriously, in the case of France, I wonder why DBZ Kai hasn't been broadcast yet on free channels, like D17.
The french dub could be much better (in my opinion, of course !)...that said, a large-scale television broadcasting would be welcome to popularize the brand "Dragon Ball Z Kai" ! A lot of casual/dubbie fans have never heard anything about it.

TLC, sandwiched between two episodes of Honey Boo Boo.
Get it? Boo? Disgustingly enormous stupid people? Fat Buu?

Nicktoons does have the rights (or at least did), but if they were able to get the rights to it, no force in Hell or on Earth would stop them (minus budgetary reason). DBZ was always Toonami's biggest series and Kai could lead the entire block to getting higher ratings.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Toonami said it themselves. Unless a channel airs it first before a home release, Toonami's the only place I'd care to watch it on TV. Uncut release would be nice.

Re: What Channel should DBZ Kai the Final Chapters Air On?
I absolutely expect that it'll end up on Nicktoons (at least if we're talking about the English dub), and I personally have no problem with that. Sure, not everyone may get Nicktoons on TV, but that issue is borderline-irrelevant in my opinion, because every time they air a new episode of Kai, they stream it online for free for a few weeks (which is how I ended up watching most of the English dub since episodes were coming out faster on TV than they were on home video). Granted, access to Nicktoons may be limited for some people, but that limited access is also the reason that Nicktoons is able to get away with editing less. While I will always prefer the uncut version, I think the Nicktoons-edited version is a good example of tastefully-done editing. Never once did I ever see a Nicktoons edit that I found distracting...in fact, often the edits were so subtle that I didn't even notice them.

...Is on Network Television which is under the eye of The CW's Standards And Practices people. I think its decent for Post Fox Kids Saturday Morning television.

Re: What Channel should DBZ Kai the Final Chapters Air On?
Oh, I didn't mean to imply that there wasn't a logical reason for that version being more edited. As I mentioned earlier, I think the limited access of Nicktoons was a blessing in disguise because they were able to get away with more, not being subject to the same rules and regulations (especially if one considers that the "limited access" problem is almost circumvented entirely if you watch the episodes online when Nicktoons puts them up for streaming). So it's perfectly logical that the CW4Kids/Vortexx version would have more edits.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:...Is on Network Television which is under the eye of The CW's Standards And Practices people.
...However, logical reason behind the edits or no, many of them were still a tad too distracting for me on that version.
With all that said, one of the most ironic things in the history of Dragon Ball-related dubs happened on the CW4Kids network. I wasn't aware of the original Japanese version when DBZ began airing on Cartoon Network, but from researching into the sentiments that remain archived online (such as the website "DBZ Uncensored"), it appears that a lot of fans were begging for the original Japanese score to be used in the dub........so, go figure, the first time we hear the Kikuchi score, on broadcast television, in North America, in the dub, in the series proper (not the movies).....is on a "director's cut" of DBZ (aka Kai), and, of all networks, the 4Kids network.
How's that for irony? I think it would be hilarious if I could go back in time and talk to the "DBZ Uncensored"-era fans and observe their reaction when I tell them, "Well, you do eventually get the Kikuchi score in the dub.......buuuut......."
