DB/DBZ/DBGT and the Funimation Channel?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

DB/DBZ/DBGT and the Funimation Channel?

Post by Sun_Wukong » Tue Aug 01, 2006 6:39 pm

So Funimation Channel just expanded today, and I was lucky(?) enough to get it, see here:

Anyway, their schedual:

has nothing DB on it whatsoever. I was wondering if the Cartoon Network brodcasting rights were the reason. Is there ever a chance we'll see it on there?

CN owns the exclusive TV airing rights to DB/DBZ/DBGT in the US. So... it probably won't be airing anywhere else for a LOOOONG time.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I'm beginning to think that every one of your posts is very troll-like.

I remember a while back, it was being aired on the WB.
There is no better combination in the world than Dragonball, Cherry Pepsi, and Cheez-Its. It's a proven fact.

It's possible the rights to airing the show on cable wasn't written to Cartoon Network back then. (I remember the day they took it off. "WHAT?! Frickin' Bill Cosby?! Damn you, Bill Cosby!")
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

That's back when KidsWB and Cartoon Network had a "Toonami week." KidsWB spent the whole week airing Toonami shows like DBZ & Sailor Moon. CN and WB are both owned by AOL Time Warner. Cartoon Network holds the rights to broadcast DBZ. AOL Time Warner cross-promotes it's Toonami lineup on WB. Starting to make sense, here? CN may have the exculsive airing rights, but the networks are owned by AOL Time Warner, which has the right to decide if they want to put CN shows on other channels.

Either that... or you're referring to the ol' days when DBZ was in syndication.

Actually, Dragon Ball Z was aired years before the Toonami week, which I think is what Jrinu was talking about (but I can't be completely sure, which I guess is what you mean by "in syndication." :o ) However, what you said about Warners' still applies. Warner Bros. owns Cartoon Network, I believe, which is why you'll usually see the same shows on each channel, though the exclusively "new" episodes only run on one of the channels.
