Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Well, I didn't like it at all. Its just stupid. But I'm glad people seemed to have enjoyed it.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Eleim should be more careful, he'll be lucky if he doesn't get DQ'd for taking Uub's arm. lol, Can it be a running gag if it's been years between the first and second instance of Uub and his arm?
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Uub is turning into the next Krillin.

I would be okay with this.mAcChaos wrote:Uub is turning into the next Krillin.

Ok am I the only one who just thought that was overkill and not funny. Krillin gets smacked around yes, but he never gets so seriously hurt for a laugh that it's mad uncomfortable. The reason why it's funny when the Black Knight loses his limbs is because of how little he cares, he'll just keep on fighting and act like he's perfectly fine. Here it's mad uncomfortable and IMO, makes me feel sorry for Oob rather than laugh. I still hope Eliem wins somehow.

I don't get what's so funny. That was dry humor and doesn't seem...coool at all. "I got my arms cut off" haha. I don't find it funny. Breaking Bread.

I would only find it morbid if we didn't know that Oob is just gonna get the arm back again, like he did before. But since it's pretty clear he will, well...it just leaves it as kinda funny to me.
I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea though.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
It's black comedy and I can see the conflict. Dragon Ball isn't really known for that and the first time Uub lost his arm it was dramatic enough that he killed the guy who cut it off. If it were Piccolo who kept losing limbs I might like it more. I don't know. I think the Dragon Ball universe is one that is ripe for a lot of comedy involving superhuman characters getting injured but I'm not sure how far you can take it in what is otherwise a "serious" story. I'll give this a pass because of Buu's healing powers but I understand rereboy's perspective.

That and I might mind it more if he were screaming in pain like the first time. But this time around, he's just like "Aw come on, really? Again?". If he's not really taking it seriously, I don't see why I should be either.Gyt Kaliba wrote:I would only find it morbid if we didn't know that Oob is just gonna get the arm back again, like he did before. Dry schadenfreude humor that wasn't funny since OOB can't regenerate. Now if it was Boo.FoolsGil wrote:That's not dry humor, it's schadenfreude.TheGmGoken wrote:I don't get what's so funny. It's not schadenfreude, it's slapstick.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Well if it were Piccolo it'd be funny as it does seem painful for him to regenerate, but it's not that big a deal. Or it'd be funny if Piccolo just shrugged it off and ignored it. Then someone would point it out and he might say "It's just an arm, they grow back" Which it wouldn't for most others.
Here it just seems dark and a poor attempt at trying to replicate a Toriyama gag. We saw Murasaki get impalled in the head as well as Muten Roshi, but it's never taken too far. Muten Roshi gets a band aid and Murasaki tuns out to be fine. Goku, Krillin, and Muten Roshi are shot a whole lot, and while they are hurt, it's not too the extreme. Goten and Trunks break the Piccolo statue which is funny when Piccolo doesn't even care as he just regenerates. Here it's just too extreme.
As for the Black Knight bit I still say it's waaaay better handled there than it is here.

It just doesn't feel like Dragon Ball humour to me. Especially since it is really jarring compared to the first time it happened, where it was dramatic.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
What is the point for humor that is spelled out for you? That Buu face with "haha" would have killed the joke if it was actually funny.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
This dry slapstick with a touch of schadenfreuden humor, it's pretty dark, but really, who among you wouldn't laugh if this was DBZ abridged and Krillin or Yamcha got shafted in such a way? So I would cut Saligir some slack. Hah, cut.
