They would need to hire someone to do the subtitling of that specific episode if they were to, because the title didn't even show the translated Japanese to English episode title as it usually does.

I'm passed these problems so I hope it's the last of it. -.-

*sigh* I just want FUNimation to release Dragon Box: Dragon Ball but on the other hand I spent £47 (I know I overpaid) on DB Collection Part 2 so I'll stick to it until/if FUNi ever decides to publish "US Dragon Box: Dragon Ball".

I can't see anything coming of it, but I think that all of us who care should write to Manga UK about these problems, which start in season 2. If those were fixed, this might just be the best release of DB so far.

While watching the final episodes of the Uranai Baba Disc 2 I noticed that Episode 081 through its second part skips to a different scene of the show rather than showing Goku in the Demon World.

Spoiler:
Other than this the title cards are all in Japanese now.

UK Anime Network has revealed what the DVD menus look like and... It's exactly the same as the R4 Saga Sets menus but with the addition of Manga UK's logo on the opening.

So um, they're probably not going to fix the problems as I might've expected.

What is? That they released the materials they were given? Heck, none of the actual ISSUES with this release would even be present on that first collection, so it's a bit soon to complain about them not fixing them just yet.

...Mind you, I doubt they will be fixed. I mean, maybe that whole video-skipping issue someone mentioned will be fixed, but I would assume that Manga UK doesn't even have the proper subtitles for that one episode missing them... Of course I could be wrong.

Those menus clearly don't belong on this set. If season 1 disc 2 will say "collection 1 - Saga of Goku - disc 2" on the menu and season 1 disc 3 will say "collection 2 - World Tournament saga disc 1" on the menu, then that's just wrong. Hopefully that won't be the case, but if it is, I think "pathetic" is an acceptable way to describe the situation.

Manga UK released Soul Eater first as "Parts" and then in one complete box set but turns out the actual DVD menus were none other than called "Collection" so it just goes to prove that the only thing that they really change is the covers 'cause the rest is mostly intact (with an added Manga UK logo at the beginning of the DVD's opening).

They're selling two different releases in one set which for some consumers might be confusing. Oh well, maybe they'll fix the skip error that's on Episode 81 but not the other two, although I wish they would.

Manga UK's done the unboxing recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdAdRJrLJ7M

Screens of it for those that don't want to watch the video:

They sure are trying to cut the costs as much as possible but hopefully they'll at least always provide a clean/reversible cover.

I love that they're using that logo. That's really about all I have to add.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
True.

They could've used standard DVD case-size (as shown below) for this because it can hold up to 4/5 discs so there'd be no prob getting 'em in there, although they said they're doing it like this so that it looks neat next to the other bricks that people have bought.

I'd have too preferred this logo on my DB Collection Part 1 & 2 but the golden one isn't that bad either.

My copy showed up today.

Haven't watched it yet. I don't really mind the packaging that much. Considering it only holds four discs rather than like 6, I prefer it to the UK Orange Brick packaging. The discs looking like Dragon Radars was also a nice touch, was that in the American release?

No, the blue brick discs followed the same pattern as the the orange and green bricks.

The Blue Bricks' discs look like this:

*From Amazon's gallery.

I kinda envy those who have all booklets (1-5, 1-9, 1-2) of the bricks (Blue, Orange, Green) because they're handy to have around (used it to find which was the episode that Goku was meeting everyone at the Tenkaichi Tournament in S7-Z).

I would much rather have had that kind of packaging. Not because of the spine-size mind you, just because that packaging-style shown in that image does not have overlapping discs. Actually, when it comes to compact packaging, that style right there is probably my favorite.

@Vegard Aune, true I also disliked that FUNimation overlapped the discs on their Dragon Box Z release and I would've rather have it on fat-packs.

My Kino's Journey UK ADV box has 5 discs and all have their own space rather than overlapping one over the other.

Here's a pic of it:
It's really just Manga UK cutting down the costs as much as possible but if they wanted to do at its full then this release would be in a standard DVD case + 1 DVD cover + black cheap case.

Cult TV Times has reviewed Dragon Ball: Season 1 which did a decent job for reviewing the story but that's about it, because goes downhill when it gets to the technical aspects.
Audio, Visuals and Extras

Video & Audio

The video has been through a basic clean-up and thankfully remains in its original 4:3 aspect ratio, unlike the Dragon Ball Z box sets which cropped the show into a widescreen-aspect screen ratio. The colours are a little faded, making it a shame that after the long wait for a U.K. release that the superior Dragon Box remaster wasn’t used.

The original Japanese audio is presented in stereo with solid, readable subtitles. The English dub is also included in stereo, and it should be noted this is the U.S. FUNimation dub and not the Canadian Ocean dub which aired on U.K. TV.

Extras

The set also includes the stand-alone film Curse of the Blood Rubies. The movie is a stand-alone retelling of Dragon Ball. Like many of the Dragon Ball movies it’s rather weak, but its inclusion as an extra is welcome.
