How do you order your Dragonball stuff?

Post by samuraix123 » Fri May 09, 2014 11:33 am

Hello everyone!
I just felt like making a topic asking how everyone went about ordering their Dragonball stuff. I live out in the country and far away from a-lot of things.
I live about 4 or 5 hours away from a mall(Only been once in my life actually lol) and about an hour away from Walmart? I usually just order all my stuff online because the Walmart I go too doesn't have much. especially when it comes to Dragonball stuff. they never got any of the Dragon-Boxes when they was coming out. heck, they don't even have the new Blu-ray releases lol there isn't many big stores around me so that kinda forces my hand to order online. :P What about you folks? what's it like not living in mount paozu? that's where I feel like I live. lol
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I pretty much order exclusively online. Apart from the Full Color manga at the bookstore, I haven't physically gone to a store and bought a Dragon Ball product since the orange bricks. This is mostly due to the fact that most stores around me don't carry much in the way of anime in general. Most of the Dragon Ball items that I have been buying recently have been from Japan anyway.

I like to have my Dragonball goods shipped in discreet packing, as if illicit goods of a sexual nature

Being in the UK, after the boom years of popularity Dragonball stuff apart from the video games was hard to find until recently with the Manga UK Brick releases. In terms of non-digital media stuff like figures, clothing or apparel, apart from expensive comic book or anime stores that import goods, it's still easier to buy stuff online than look for it physically.

All of my DVD/BD collection was bought in-store (Wal-Mart, HMV, etc.). 4 of my 7 S.H. Figuarts were bought online on BigBadToyStore, 2 I bought at conventions, and the remaining 1 I got at a local hobby shop at a considerably marked up price point.

These days?

CD Japan for my Japanese purchases (manga, magazines, dvd/blu-ray) with cheapish shipping.
Rightstuf for my English purchases (manga, dvd/blu-ray) with early, free shipping.
Amazon gets my Figuarts purchases, because they are fairly cheap and free shipping.
eBay for my occasional obscure purchases of "specialty" items like theater pamphlets or out of print books.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)

I pretty much order all of my anime/manga-related purchases online.

I used to buy manga in bookstores, until I found that you can get them for half (sometimes less) of their MSRP thanks to Amazon, RightStuf.com, etc...
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Amazon for pretty much everything. Only place that sells anime around me is at my mall but its a FYE and I'm not paying Aniplex level prices.

Sometimes I go to the Books A Million there and see if they got manga not many other places do (Spice and Wolf, Berserk) but otherwise its Amazon for me.

Primarily: Amazon, eBay
Secondary: Book Depository (for the Full Colour mangas if they have them cheaper than Amazon for pre-ordering)

For my non-DB stuff, I use CStoys, Hobby Link Japan, Big Bad Toy Store, Image Anime, AmiAmi and Nippon Yasan. You can find DB stuff on those sites as well.

I use Amazon, as these Season Sets are dirt cheap there. As for how I get them over here to Sweden without paying insane shipping prices....That's a secret. 8)

It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

Amazon and I have a local movie stop that sells anime, that's where I got most of my Dragon Boxes.

I have a pretty good Japanese bookstore near me for books and stuff, and generally use CDJapan and Amazon Japan for everything else.

CDJapan and Amazon are my current go-to's. Used to order off of Kinokuniya's site prior to the redesign. Got a lot of my kanzenban volumes ordered online from the now-gone Sagusa Books (was a warehouse up in New England, forgot what state). I feel like it's been forever since I've visited the Kino in NYC, but that was also a really big one for me years back (I would make yearly trips up there and buy a whole bunch of stuff.). Once I stumbled upon a NYC Bookoff, but I was in such a hurry I never had time to actually go inside. T_T
On hiatus.
