Man that is a pretty shady trick Funi pulled. making the prices of 1-3 be $16.99 to sucker us in then raising the price to $24.99? I use amazon to order all my stuff(Because there isn't many stores around me and they especially don't carry these. especially Walmart) and I just added it up. Instead of $24.99 I'll be paying $30.71  you just keep your releases until you have a sale or the price comes down. I have the Dragon-boxes anyways.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

It's a totally shady business practice to charge less than $1.00 per episode... they should be just giving the dagblasted Blu-Rays for free!

This is almost as bad as when we had to pay $30 for a 3-4 episode DVD. :problem:

Seriously though, you kids have no idea how good you have it in terms of anime availability nowadays.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I'm not sure how old you are but I'm far from a kid. even though I'm 24, I have a-lot of responsibilities not only around my house, but trying to take care of my grandparents as well. Back then I never bought DVDs for that kinda price because I couldn't afford them! and I can't hardly afford to pay that price now. I have no stores around me that carries anything hardly. I have to drive 40-50 minutes to get to the nearest Walmart and I live 4-5 hours away from the nearest mall. and Prestonsburg KY's Walmart don't carry hardly anything! I'm not trying to play the Woe is me! here. but I was hoping these releases would continue to be in the 16 dollar range but it looks like that's no longer the case. I'm not attacking you btw. just saying.

Edit - I just want to add a bit more here. If the price is now officially $24.99 fine. whatever! If I could go to a store and buy it for that, cool beans. but I can't. lol so that kinda forces me to pay a high price for the remainder lol heck, walmart.com is trying to sell it for 38.23 lol http://www.walmart.com/ip/35175724

TheGreenQuality6th uploaded clips of the Season 4 Blu ray to youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waPBAoYKqxE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wase--rXfH0
While it still doesn't look great it looks better than what we got with season 3 most likely due to better looking film masters.

From screenshots like this I see no difference/improvement from what they've been sending out all along.

It looks better than a lot of what I saw from Season 3 I thought Season 3 was the worst looking set of the bunch. I didn't say it looked good just better imo. It's all about expectations its not like they're going to suddenly change their remastering process like all the other sets the quality of the end product varies greatly depending on the quality of Funimation's source material.

Marginal improvements so I guess that's a plus to those actually bothering with these sets. Long shots still look like shit as seen above.

I have never heard #19's dubbed voice before, holy shit, that is hilarious.

I'll say the colors are great, but they were already improved by this point in the DVD footage anyway, so whatever.

I sorta liked what I saw but that music.. if you can call it that it's horrible. It's just a bunch of noises put together as if they were from a circus or something.

Wish he'd have used the original music just to make it more bearable to watch.

As for the other question just more of the same if u didn't like the first three seasons nothing will change your mind in this one. The special features are very interesting though.
I'd only use them to rip the 'professionally filtered' audio, and place them on the 4:3 versions of the show. I'm not going to kill to do it though, especially after Funi's shady tactics. If they ever do go on sale for $16, maybe. But now, they are out of reach.

I still remember the Season 4 DVD version looking horrible and after taking a look at a few screens it's no surprise that it's yet again better than the Orange Bricks.
Looks decent if not zoomed in too much.

Again, I could have been fine with the colours and "clean" look of the picture if only it was available in 4:3.

If only Funimation did print-on-demand. No extras or anything, just a simple menu screen with episode selection would be fine.

My hunch was right! FUNi's six-week gap trend is still going. If this keeps up, September 16, October 28, and December 9 should be the release dates for seasons seven through nine, respectively.

Here are a bunch of screenshots from the first two discs of the season 4 set. http://min.us/mhUQQ2s5Zm0B9
Someone else also uploaded 1 of the extra's Funimation pleads their case for the DBZ Blu-rays Part 1 (Guilty or not guilty?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqC0EkXluy8 Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpSqeRN8r88
Having seen only the first 3 minutes I already hate everyone in the video. The best DBZ has looked. LIES!

They compared the Blu ray to a super crappy VHS to make the Blu ray look better
EDIT: The guy actually claimed that the footage on the left was from the Orange Bricks are they purposely making them look worse?

Oh my god I can't believe they all agreed that the Season BDs are the best looking version of Dragon Ball Z and then the guy goes on saying that the Orange Bricks are an amazing set of Dragon Ball Z in 16x9 AR.

The intended aspect ratio of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT is 4x3 AR not 16x9 AR. I sure hope FUNimation doesn't make Widescreen versions of DB/GT on Blu-ray/DVD.

So apparently the entire frame is being remastered for the season sets then they are going back and cropping them after the fact.

The guy in the video also danced around the question of whether this process was automated or not. What I got from his explanation was that the remastering is automated but they go through it frame by frame afterwards to make sure everything is working ok. He also said they try a lot of different setting to see what works the best. So the show is being remastered automatically they're just making sure that everything is working like it should and if its not then they adjust the settings unlike the orange bricks where they just hit go and let the computer go to work. I feel dirty now I can't believe what I just saw they just lied to their customers that should be illegal. They intentionally made the orange bricks look worse to make these look better.

All of that "technical jargon" is mostly a bunch of nonsense in an attempt to impress the uninformed.

He keeps meandering about it being "brighter and bolder", and then humorously talks about preserving the "brightest brights and the darkest darks", which is hilarious considering all of the crushed blacks.

Are those from the special features? Even though the grain removal has it share of problems, I'd get those!

I fooled with the saturation and contrast and added some grain in it :D
