Well, in the bumper animation at least! If you follow me on Twitter you know I love dissect the crap out of Dragon Ball animation. So, last night on a total whim I took a screen shot of one of the old bumpers and noticed Goku was missing a foot. I didn't think much of it until I decided to make a frame by frame shot of this sequence to see when exactly his foot disappears. I picked any random episode thinking they were all the same animation, but this time his foot was there! Eventually I figured out that this starts at episode 55...
It became clear to me that they wanted to omit the symbol on Goku's gi and change his belt to represent his look in these episodes. I've never even noticed this change before. His shirt and pants seems be totally re-drawn in the close up, look at the wrinkles and the sleeves...
But for some odd reason, his foot just got erased in this posses.

Is it just that one frame, or is it the entire animation? [EDIT: just checked and it's missing for two frames]
Anyway, it seems they were thinking it would be cut off in the 16x9 version, and forgot about the 4x3 version and possibly got lazy as a result.

The show was originally broadcast in 16x9 AR so mistakes like these are bound to be seen on a 4x3 AR edition as you're seeing the extra footage that may not have been intended to be seen.
It's like watching the
Dragon Ball films in 4x3 AR even though the official AR is 16x9 for all of them, from what I remember I didn't remember any flaws like this for the DB/Z films in full aspect ratio.
Screens
Okay, Goku SSJ3's chest looks weirdly drawn but if I didn't look much into it it wouldn't have been exactly noticeable.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Yea, I'm aware of that. It's just weird to me that his foot would get erased since it's the same drawing of Goku from the first set of bumpers.

Well, as you pointed it out there's two different drawings of that scene so in the second one it's possible that they had in mind only the Widescreen edition forgetting there was even a Fullscreen at all.
The R2J DVDs were Widescreen while the Blu-rays were Fullscreen, it's just confusing they'd not stick to the "proper" aspect ratio which is the Widescreen, as much as I prefer it in Fullscreen the right AR is 16x9 for Kai. At least for the Season 3 they're not going to have two versions of the same thing even though some would like it in 4x3 AR (I do too).
Anyway, for Dragon Ball Kai: Season 3 I hope the colours are better, footage has better picture quality and just be consistent with the new and old drawn scenes. I really hated whenever a redrawn scene appeared in the Old Kai as they were so damn obvious and unsatisfying to the eye.

He's only re-drawn in the close up. The full body shot is the same with just the symbol and the belt ends flapping in the wind erased. But I guess what you're saying is still possible.

Maybe... his foot was on another layer and they accidentally disabled that layer when they put the modified animation together?
