Cell made me fell like I was watching a horror comedy. Loved this episode. My brother thinks Cell will be like salad fingers.

I can't get over how much I love Cell's introduction. It's literally perfect.

Don't think I laughed the entire 12 minutes. Too busy being distracted by Gohan being the happiest he's ever been like, ever, and getting the Piccolo/Kami dialogue I've wanted since 2000.

Well done, Kaiser.

Bulma and egg was the great visual gag I probably would have missed.

Out of series note, Episode 43 42% done with recording already, geez!

Indeed, Wasn't the funniest episode, but that was due to the genre shift to...I'm assuming drama mystery? but it wasn't the funniest due to of a lack of quality-It was a great episode and I did laugh a couple times, Trunks and Bulma, forever awkward, and Gohan was in rare form. He hasn't really got too much of focus this season, well it's all about him this episode. And oddly enough, the abridged series brought depth that was lacking in the canon material, Kami and Piccolo, good show indeed.

I liked the episode. Still not a laugh riot for me, but still very enjoyable. I kinda wanted Popo to care a little bit that Kami was never gonna come back, but seeing as how in Season 1 he didn't care, it makes sense why he still wouldn't care. It may also break his established character. On the other hand he actually puts Kami over his own shit in the pecking order, so you'd think Kami means at least something to him.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I won't lie: Really happy people like what we did with Gohan here. We've never done as much as we wanted to with him before, now we finally are getting the chance.

Also, we're not currently working on 43. We're now 42% done with... COOLER 2: RETURN OF COOLER'S REVENGE: THE RECKONING

Can't wait for that.

Would it be too self-indulgent of me to hope that when they get to Broly in movie 8, they take a stab at all of his crazy fans?

Well, Broli's power is maximum.

I can't wait for that magic...but until then, I will greatly enjoy more Cooler.

Also, waiting for more Cell shall prove worth it.

To be fair this episode was different than previous episodes, but while it's different it certainly deserves lots of praise in my opinion. Mr Popo wasn't as good as previous appearances, but that's... okay? It was kind of funny, just not as funny as Mr Popo was in other episodes. Below are some highlights that are actually pretty good if you think about it:

The Krillin and Muten Roshi talk:
At first I was like... why the hell is this scene even in here? It's not THAT funny. I don't even get sweating grapes. At least I don't think it's funny per se. I thought these scene was just to establish that Goku and Krillin have now arrived at Kame House, but actually it's all about the Krillin and Roshi talk. While at face value this seems to be a joke about boobs and fruit, it's actually quite a bit deeper than that. Krillin, known for objectivying Maron in the previous 'arc' is starting to slowly turn around in his opinion on women, made clear by the contrast of Roshi's questions about her rack. Krillin has gone from comparing his head to Maron's breasts, to "her confidence was stunning". That's character growth. That's brilliant character growth, subtly tucked away in a scene about boobs in a Dragon Ball Parody fanmade webseries. Let that sink in a little.

Kami vs Piccolo scene:
Many are calling this scene better than the original (or at least the original English dub) and it IS. It's moody, it's subtily funny ("Mom, dad, please stop fighting" was gold!) and it's pretty darned serious. Piccolo saying "No, I was kind of a dick" is his character accepting that Kami is right. He was evil and he did a lot of bad things. Both Kami and Piccolo decide against their better judgement to fuse, because they're needed on Earth and it's a pretty darned believable dilemma. And TFS referenced Kami trying to pass Guardian/God off to Goku and Piccolo is right, Goku?! Are you out of your mind?! And like previously mentioned in this thread, like Toriyama said, Goku wouldn't be a good father, reminding us again how close TFS' Goku is to manga Goku. And after that no more than two callbacks to Nail's fusion scene. It might not be the funniest ever, but again, Team Four Star is raising the bar and showing that they can do serious BETTER than Dragon Ball can.

The mystery scenes:
There is an atmosphere in this episode that's pretty eerie. Actually this whole arc originally has a few good moments of eerie-ness, most prominently the waiting for Androids 19 and 20 and the mystery plot of these few episodes and they're handled with absolute care. Sure the CSI Gohan joke makes it funny, and the reporter trying to interview Cell gets a laugh from me, but Krillin's "There's some major shit going on in Ginger Town" was actually portrayed as straight up scary. The funny is in there, definitely, but the mood is still pretty darned good for an Abridged series. It's like bringing parody on the internet to a whole new level.

The Vegeta scene:
Is it me or was the line "You know who's really at fault here... the boy?" was seriously upsetting. Vegeta's character is going dark places. Again, this can only result in some good character development. Again, they could've lost this scene. It's not especially funny (though "Have you met me" was totally great and made me laugh), but it's essential. Vegeta is gonna go through some serious character development and this is laying the groundworks for that. He's already gone through shit, but blaming Trunks is something new and it's gonna explode either in the Room of Spirit and Time or when Trunks is killed during the Cell Games. Scenes like these are going to be pivotal.

The Cell scene:
It was glorious, what more can I say? "Hello, friend" and then the small scary laugh while we cut to the logo. Good jezus I cannot wait to see more of Imperfect Cell O.o So awesome.

Team Four Star isn't going for the cheap laughs, they're building up. They're trying to make something that's more than the sum of its parts and making some well thought out jokes on the way there. I'm also pretty sure I know where the whole Goku-Gohan dynamic is going and I cannot wait. Seriously guys, this episode is not to be underestimated and might so far be one of the best. Not the funniest, perhaps, but definitely one of the best thought out.

I love TFS work because they arent guys pretending to be funny and pretending to know about the series. They are funny indeed and have a great knowledge about the series and its japanese version. Not some american fanboys. And the work is done in a professional way too.

I have a question. Why you're doing that movie first instead of History of Trunks thats is been teased since some episodes ago?! First the submarine joke then Gohan's arm.
Thank you for your hardwork.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Yeah I was wondering about that too, especially since Return of Cooler (or... what's it called again, now I'm confused? :o Oh I remember now, Clash!! 10,000,000,000 Powerful Warriors, of course :p) has Dende as guardian. Though... if you wait till Dende's guardian Movies 7, 8 and 9 will be extremely close together... maybe that's why?

Why has Roshi's voice changed? It isn't like MasakoX has left or anything...............

Yeah, I was wondering that too. With Lanipator taking over he just sounds like "old Kuririn". MasakoX is a better fit IMO.

During the episode with Marron, Masako found it difficult to do the laugh and some of the lines the way they needed to be done. Lani was able to do them and has assumed the role

Speaking of which, I just got done watching Episode 31 for the first time in a while and I was wondering how it sort of came about? I know obviously it was done out of a desire to condense the Garlic Jr Saga as much as possible but where did all that Huan Sanchez stuff come from? I mean I really enjoyed it of course but it's unlike any episode that's come before or since :D

Loved the new episode BTW

I am not too fond of it. I mean, it really sounds like just an old Krillin. It sounded too much like Lani it took me out of the scene. Maybe I'm in the minority on this but couldn't they have found someone else playing less roles on their roster than the guy who plays a huge portion of the characters?

Trust me when I say I understnad what you mean here. Unfortunately, it was really difficult to find anyone in the period of time we had who really fit the role. Ultimately, Lani had the best voice and was the most available.

I totally understand your dilemma Kaiser. I understand. I am just venting a bit despite knowing the circumstances. Stuff like that goes on short notice and is not always worth the time for a search especially when one considers how far you guys are in the project. It's just a "too bad" feeling. However, there have been times like this where you have knocked it out of the park with a few replacements which are better than the originals such as Kami and Yamcha.
