Goku vs Superman. Epic Rap Battles of History

Post by Ringworm128 » Mon May 19, 2014 9:52 am

Looks like ERB finally did Goku vs Superman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MW9Nrg_kZU I actually found the part where Goku screams his lyrics to be pretty funny.

Well, Goku had some better lines ("super hero scared of green rocks", "beaten by a bat with no powers"), though I'm not sure whether that makes him the victor by "their" system.

I'll actually admit: This was really well made, all things considered. However, that's Ray William Johnson as Goku and that sours this for me somethin' fuckin' terrible.

Otherwise, I think it's pretty damn good.

He does do a good job. Because ultimately, he's not talentless. I just don't appreciate him after a couple of things he's said and done in the past.

Eh. Not their best work.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I feel like this is still one of the better ones they've put out recently.

I actually thought it was quite entertaining and I have never really liked Epic Rap Battles of History. That being said it's the nitpicks that get to me. Why did they give Super Saiyan Rayku blue contacts instead of green arrrrrgh.

And that gives me another reason to not watch this video.

May I ask what RWJ did that was so bad? Last time I checked the worst he did was upload videos where he talks about viral videos.

Yeah, I concur. He did a good job as Goku (although his last line about Christopher Reeve was a bit harsh). Overall I loved this battle, especially Superman's scrutiny of DBZ overall. I can't decide a winner.

I don't think he wrote the lines.

Nah, I meant in terms of acting. His voice seemed to fit Goku, and his scream sounded good but that was probably edited.

I take issue with Ray William Johnson for his behavior in the past. He's been exceptionally rude with detractors of his, openly mocked and showed absolute disrespect to people without any propagation, and his method of money making has always occurred to me as lazy at best, exploitative at worst.

I disagree. I rather liked all of the season 3 ones except this, Miley Cyrus vs Joan of Arc, and Grimes vs White. Favorite so far has been Al Capone vs Blackbeard. And it looks like Weird Al is going to be in the next battle, so that's pretty awesome.

I re-watched the video several times to see if that made it better, as that's typically the case for ERBH episodes. I found it better, but still meh. For what it's worth, I think Superman won handily. Favorite lines:

"Who's got the rap bombs to drop on Japan? / This looks like a job for the OG- Superman!"

"Greasy, slick emcee from DC / With one breath I'll freeze your whole measly species"

"You're pretty pasty to be powered by the sun/you can't flow to Son Goku, I kaio-ken get it done,"

To be fair, it was pretty short, and it felt like Superman got a great deal more screentime than Goku.

I really enjoyed Grimes vs White, but I didn't care much for Miley Cyrus vs Joan of Arc, Al Capone vs Blackbeard, or last year's Christmas battle.

I think my favorite of this season so far was Muhammad Ali vs Michael Jordan. Key and Peele are always great.
