Dragon Soul or Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go

Post by DragonBoxZTheMovies » Sat May 17, 2014 7:25 pm

For some reason, I got into the habit of saying "Zū-Ken-Zetsu-Go" at one stage...

Erm, anyway, which one do you prefer?

I actually think I'm leaning towards the latter. I was giving the two openings a watch today, and I was quite surprised at how comparatively slow Dragon Soul was alongside Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go.I really enjoy the energy that Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go (yes, I am copying and pasting this every time :P ) has and I feel it does a great job of hyping you up for the series- perhaps the speed of the song reflects the over-the-top editing of the show itself.

I do like Dragon Soul a lot as well and I think both songs do a great job of capturing the 'Dragon Ball Spirit', but the more upbeat nature of Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go wins me over.It might be because it's newer, buy hey, we'll see in a few years time.

Dragon Soul. I love it so much. Not found of the latter. It sounds like singers on 5 hour energy

Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go for me. But I love them both. :)
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Dan Dan is still number one for me but id say I prefer Dragon Soul over Ku-Zen, so long as its the Japanese version of it or the Vic Mignogna or Brina Palencia cover.

I'd be curious to find out who's going to sing the English version. :D

I like Dragon Soul a lot, but I really think Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go has a whole lot more energy to it. (Especially, the opening notes)
I can't wait until they release the full version.

Dragon Soul is more memorable but Ku-Zen-Zetsu-Go sounds more like a Dragon Ball song.

Still pick Dragon Soul.

Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go!

It actually gets me excited to watch Kai! Something that Dragon Soul failed to do for me. And yes, I can't wait for the full release either!

Definetely Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go.

I never liked Dragon Soul, the fact that it shamelessly lifted its hook from Dan Dan for brand reinforcement always rubbed me up the wrong way. If they wanted to do something in the style of one of the older themes, I'd have much rather them just covered one of them in a modern style ala Flow for Battle of Gods as opposed to producing something new with a poor-man's rip off of the chorus melody.

Kuu Zen Zetsu Go. Reminds me of the video game themes and really pumps me up. I still like Dragon Soul, just not as much.

Honestly for me it's

Kuu Zen Zetsu Go>Makafushigi Adventure>Dragon Soul>Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku>We Gotta Power>Cha La Head Cha La

Sue me I don't think the DBZ openings are that special.

Dragon Soul by a lot for me. Although Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go has grown on me a lot, Dragon Soul never had to "earn" its enjoyability as such to me and was something I felt from the outset. That said both songs feel very modern-era Dragon Ball to me and although they don't quite hold a candle to Kageyama's orginal tunes, I don't feel kids tuning into Kai are necessarily getting a terrible product on the opening music front at least.

I find it kinda funny that so many are calling out Dragon Soul for getting its chorus from DAN DAN when Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go's sounds equally derivative to me - it sounds pretty damn similar to Ore wa Tokoton Tomaranai.

I really enjoy both songs, but Kū-Zen-Zetsu-Go is the one I really dig most right now. It's super catchy and the energy level is off the chart. I'll never skip the OP every time a new Kai episode comes out.

I actually like the instrumental renditions (both Yamamoto and fan-made) of Dragon Soul more than the original song.

Hmm, tough one. I really like both of them. I think Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go is still a little too new/novel to fairly judge. We'll see which one test of time better. But right now I am slightly addicted to KZZG, so for this moment, it's that.

I would have to say Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go. Dragon soul is good but I like Kuu-Zen more.

Dragon Soul is great, but Like Nothing Before or After is the best, it's fast-paced, it's epic, it's Dragon Ball energy and it gets you excited!

Dragon Soul all the way! Makes me wonder how the openings for the Buu arc could've been if they used Dragon Soul still.

Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go! I like them both but I'm glad Buu arc got a new theme.

Hm, I don't see Fight It Out!! anywhere but my vote goes for Fight It Out!! the song's catchy, memorable, gives a nostalgic and that Engrish lets the viewer think of different ways to imagine the lyrics. :P

Fight It Out!! > Ku-zen-whatever > Dragon Soul
