The nonsensical inclusion of Puar in that Goku vs Majin Vegeta double pack made me smile.

Nice haul, though!

They were always doing random things like that. I remember when I bought a Babidi figure and instead of including his crystal ball they decided to include Cell's egg that was found in the time machine.

EDIT: Found a picture. "Babidi with Cocoon Egg." I guess maybe they were going for Majin Buu's cocoon? Who knows?

Hey, even as nonsensical as inclusions as they are - they at least have a tenuous link to the series, unlike on those late 1990's, early 2000 Irwin figures that came with friggin guns!

What are those larger Tankobans next to the regular Viz ones?

Those are the older editions of the Viz prints. Different team who put those together, it's especially noticeable when you read the back covers of the first 10, older editions, imo.

Also, I find it interesting that you can tell which volumes got the slightly better quality paper (though I'm kind of curious as to why some had longer-lasting paper) because the copies I have whose paper is more yellowed are the exact same volumes as the collection pictured here. In fact my set looks near-identical to the one pictured above. I bought them as Viz initially released them, so I ended up with this mismatched set. No regrets though. :3

In terms of my own most recent DB purchase; back in January I bought the ssjg Gokû and ssj Vegeta DXF BOG tie-in figures. I'm very happy with them. (≧▽≦)

pretty much,in the proper meaning of the word but more like a marble run i guess!

As peckingduck notes, EPOCH still (2008) produce these kind of "boardgames" / marble run games
have a look at this mario kart themed game to understand what gameplay it is about :)

So these marble racing games, are what they describe? and not at all like I don't know Mouse Trap right?

Is there a story?

Couldn't watch the video something happened with my MAC when tried too.

How old is this particular DB marble racing game, and are there different DB ones?

"board games" like mouse hunt/trap have playing fields, dice etc.,
this db related marble race game is all about the racing fun, no story is involved, but there could be some sort of setting description in the top of the box, but could also be just the "rules" :)
Image

This game is from 1986, i dont know about other db related marble race games,
but original board games ... there should be a good handfull!

At peckingduck you can checkout some scans:
http://pekindbz.blog90.fc2.com/blog-entry-888.html

Image
at lower left, this should be just a db themed mahjong game, at the top on the right, this should be a board game too, but i dont know anything about it!
top left, next to the muscle tower toyset, this is nothing like a boardgame, i dont know the english word for this kind of game, its like you place some figures on a "rail" or how you would call that, which you can "control" to let these figures "fight" ;) (have a detailed look here:http://fun-to-toy.com/funtotoy_anime_doragonball_1.html)

For the second Famicom DB Game (1988), there was also a boardgame ... have another look at pekinducks blog for this:

$200. Compared to the original MSRP it's pricy but it's nothing compared to some of the prices on eBay which can range from double or triple that price.
That moment when you realize you paid $200 for the 'Fake Namek' episodes. :P

Nah, I'm just kidding. Congratulations on your purchase! I assume you have the full set now?

I remember reading a lot about your, er, desperation to obtain this volume.
Offer still stands a year later.

Will blow for Dragon Box 2.
I'm guessing you didn't quite have to go to these measures in the end.

Wow that's a good price. Got all 16 volumes for Christmas many years ago but they were ordered separately and Volume 10 was a different type.
