Has anyone else discovered this?
If you hold X, then press backwards and forwards, you can deflect an energy wave without any of your health decreasing. No-one else seems to have described this, so I thought I should tell you guys...
Are there any other moves in the game that aren't shown in the menu?

See some FAQs instead, the manual is utterly useless. But yeah, that's pretty much the only non-obvious unlisted move.

Since I have the japanese version, the manual is pretty useless.

Why do you guys get the japanese game if you don't speak/read japanese? Seems kind of stupid

Mostly because, the Japanese version sounds better, both the music and the voices.
I would get the Japanese versions but I don't have a JP PS2, nor the money to buy one
There is no better combination in the world than Dragonball, Cherry Pepsi, and Cheez-Its. It's a proven fact.

A.) It comes out first.
B.) It has the Japanese voice cast.
C.) It's a fighting game. Not a text based RPG. I managed my way through the Super Butoden series when I was young, stupid, and knew nothing about the Japanese language. It isn't that difficult.

Doesn't matter what language the manual is in, either you can't read it due to it being in a different language or it doesn't tell anything that you couldn't figure out right away or reading the ingame descriptions.

Compared to the PAL version, the Japanese vesion only has a different opening and a different Rival theme, which is so irritating I prefer the PAL/US theme. However, I seem to get the idea that the rival theme from the pa/us version sounds a lot like some kind of remix of a Japanese BGM piece.
Jord doesn't have a avatar because the combination of Jord and a equally cool avatar would cause the universe to implode.

That's because it is. This particular piece is a remix from the Freeza arc BGM.

Are you sure that the energy deflect isn't in the manual?? I thought that I read it somewhere before I actually tried to use it. Besides I think it's kinda useless you expect to be attacked by someone's Super attack and can time it just right inorder for it to work. Also, it doesn't use health energy but it drain your action gauge.
