Vegeta admitting Goku's better; does BoG rekindle any hope?
Do you think Vegeta's experience in BoG might have given him some hope again in being able to catch up to Goku and reawakening to his previous aspirations to finally outdo him? I don't mean in a malicious way like he used to; just probably for the sake of tradition of having been his rival for so long and perhaps having realised he finally achieved what Goku had in what may have helped give him strength.

Personally, I dont think Vegeta is ever going to fully surpass Goku. He's always going to play second fiddle. That being said, theres nothing stopping him from having a moment such as his assault on Cell and Beerus.Legendary Saiya-Jin wrote:Do you think Vegeta's experience in BoG might have given him some hope again in being able to catch up to Goku and reawakening to his previous aspirations to finally outdo him? That and with the possibility of a sequel to BOG and Toriyama liking the idea of Vegeta as a protagonist, I think its safe to say Vegeta will rise up here and there. Vegeta can admit Goku is the best, but that wont stop him from pushing himself in hopes he still may infact surpass Goku.

I know that chronologically BoG is before the Kanzenban ending, but considering it was published/conceived a decade before, I always felt that was the take-away from the "perfect" end of the series. Vegeta conceding Goku's superiority isn't some sort of announcement of retirement. He simply no longer feels the need to or sees the point of fighting for his own selfish reasons. He begins to see Goku as a challenge and not an obstacle; an opponent, but not an enemy. Vegeta doesn't need to exert his power over people anymore.

Goku will always be better, but that doesn't mean that Vegeta must be incomparably worse (weaker) than him. Vegeta is proud to be the prince of all saiyans, the most powerful race of the universe, so he still has a reason to live and to become better and better.

I said before that Beerus should replace Vegeta as Goku's rival.
The whole Vegeta rivalry has been dragged out and his power is a complete joke now compared to Goku. Have Beerus be the rival from now on and let Goku play catch up for once.

Vegeta can easily catch up with Super Saiyan God, and I really doubt that he won't succeed in absorbing the form's power like Goku did. Especially when there are hints that this will actually happen in the near future, with Vegeta saying that he wants the form next time, Beerus saying that he could become a threat, and Toriyama saying that he wants Vegeta as the protagonist in the next movie.Bullza wrote:I said before that Beerus should replace Vegeta as Goku's rival.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

With the way everything is moving, I'm willing to bet Goku and Vegeta will be taken as students under Beerus and/or Whis and trained by them.Bullza wrote:I said before that Beerus should replace Vegeta as Goku's rival.

That would just be retreading the same repetitive formula yet again. If he became a SSJ God then Goku would only become a SSJ God 2. Vegeta will always play second fiddle to Goku.
That whole rivalry should have died the moment Vegeta admitted Goku's superiority. Vegeta isn't even the same badass character he once was, now he's some comic relief character who sings and makes a fool out of himself and who looks in pots for people. He is now what Piccolo became in the Buu saga.
