Not a whole lot if it's a screening for a few days. Some fans are let down that we are not getting a major release, but that's how foreign movies work here in the US. There's a small market for these type of movies. If the movie is release then more then 20 theaters we could make at least three million on opening week. The Aqua Teen movie made over 3 million on a limited release on it's first release.
I'd actually be surprised if the movie made $3 million total. Even that Wind Rises film from Disney made only $5 million.

Then again the movie made $4.4 million in Mexico and US is a bigger market but then it was released on twice as many screens as what it will be in US.
Disney did not make The Wind Rises. It was done by Studio Ghibli, just like all of Miyazaki's films. All Disney does with his films is handle the English dubbing and releases.

Well of course I knew that, Disney was the distributor for the movie and advertised it in in US and it only made $5 million there despite being released in nearly 500 theatres.

So I don't expect DBZ to make more than a couple million. Anime films make chump change in US.

That's why I think it could make a couple million as opposed to a few hundred thousand. Then again the films only in theatres for 4 days so that might be pushing it.

If it did well they'd surely expand the run and theatre count for the film. The movie could still outgross DBE.

Good luck at hyping the epic of this movie Funimation- you're gonna crash and burn.

Dub will be fun, though; I would be honestly surprised if Sabat did not have a halfway heart attack at the thought of his having to do the bingo scene- should he know about it. If not, well, that's going to be a rude awakening.
If he can do Garterbelt from Panty and Stocking, I think he'll survive the Bingo scene.
And again, this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc3KQh8o7Zw
Folks I'm aware of both of these; this is also the man who admits at cons that he was never on the table for Dragon Soul because it was so comically out of his range. You've proven nothing. Garterbelt doesn't even work as a comparison because he's not an established Sabat voice suddenly diving 110 degrees into new territory like BoG Vegeta.

This will likely come out in Phoenix right? Also that Kamehameha was epic hopefully we also get the extended edition because I haven't seen it yet. I can't believe it's the most watched video on World Star  (World Star is even cooler now than it's ever been) I do wish they spent time on making the fight scenes better though.
Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

It depends how many theaters and how well the movie is market. The Aqua Teen movie made over 3 million on it's first week on a limited release. Aqua Teen is more niche then DBZ. Anyone hopes for a movie that breaks office records will be dreaming. I think 3 million would be the highest, but I do see 1 million would be the likest.

Disney have been part of the production committee for Ghibli films since Spirited Away, so to say they are only involved in English dubbing is wrong.

Supposedly they said 350 screens so obviously that would be less than 350 theatres. Aqua Teen was released in 877 theatres so it had a much wider release.

It could do decently because it does have a big fanbase but most people have already seen it online.

Man, I can't recall the last time I was this excited about something that we all knew was gonna happen at some point (FUNimation acquiring BoG)! And since I live in LA, I'm all the more excited since that will no doubt be one of the select cities for theatrical screenings that the announcement mentions.

A tip for all those who can see this in a theater: DO IT. I haven't seen BoG, but I saw the latest Evangelion movie in theaters and, speaking strictly about the visuals and audio, it was incredible. Maybe it's just that I'm not used to seeing anime on the big screen, but it was nevertheless a very fun experience.

It's a good day today!
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Are you sure about that? Most of the times I see something with a limited release, they don't dedicate more than one screen to the movie since it's targeted at such a niche audience. With FMA: Sacred Star of Milos, for the nearest theater that showed it, they had both subbed and dubbed showings. Though they only had it on one screen and switched the audio and subtitle track on the DVD/Bluray every other showing.

Well surely one theatre is bound to have two different screens for it but that may not matter actually because on some articles I'm seeing 350 theatres and some saw 350 screens which isn't necessarily the same thing.

350 theatres wouldn't be so bad really. It's far more than I'd have ever expected, dunno why it was only limited to 4 days though.

I am beyond excited that it has finally been picked up - words cannot express it. Seriously, I think I need new pants.

Can't wait for it to get announced for DVD though, since that'll be where I'll get to see it, since there's no way in hell a theater near me will be showing it, grr.

Anyone know if theres a way to request a theater showing? I'm only a half hour away from two AMC theaters that showed two Miyazaki films and the first Bleach movie so I think my chances are good on getting BOG to play at one of them.

I really hope it's the special edition, and I really hope Hero and the credits sequence are left in-tact. Those pages from the manga from throughout the whole story flying by to Flow's Cha-La-Head-Cha-la was a really cool celebration of Dragon Ball.

I really do hope Funimation keeps the music that plays between Beerus and Goku fight. I like that a-lot. :)
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I may be the only one that hopes we get the English versions of Flow's Cha La Head Cha La and Hero? lol

Especially the latter one, so I can actually hear it in its "entirety". For the movie sized version at least.
