I don't really see why the first Broly movie gets so much hate around here, yeah Broly's not a very great villain, but it's one of the only Dbz movies that actually felt like a movie as opposed to an extended episode of the anime. It was also pretty cool seeing the characters fighting together to try and defeat a single enemy.
I wasn't hating it? I like it myself. not my favorite but definitely not bad. The first Broly movie had a-lot of fights and they was pretty epic fights at that. but there's nothing really crazy epic about the new movie. Plus I do believe Broly is a little over-hyped. My friends actually want a new movie where he goes Super Saiyan 3. :?

I didn't actually say that you were hating it, just that a lot of other people around here seem to very much dislike it. It seems like the common thing that people hate about the movie is how Broly's character was handled and how over-hyped he tends to be.

That's my biggest issue with it. Yeah, it actually feels like a film but so much of the potential is wasted.

There's this mysterious and unhinged allure to Broli when we're first introduced to him. His initial reaction to Goku is unnerving and that only builds as we progress throughout the film.

Next minute, we learn that Broli despises Goku because of the most asinine and absurd reason I've ever heard. Paragas is swiftly disposed of and that interesting dynamic is suddenly gone.

So what are we left with? A giant brute screaming 'Kakarroto' over and over while the Z fighters try and pummel the shit out of him.

It's just incredibly disappointing. They had real potential to introduce a movie rival to live up to Vegeta's presence in the series and yet managed to reduce him to a worthless punchbag like every other villain.

Had they come up with a well written reason, developed this unhinged nature of Broli, and tapped into the father-son side of things with Paragas, we could have had a very interesting, multi-layered character on our hands.

Nah, It doesn't bother me at all. :) I do really believe though that he is kinda over-hyped in the sense that a-lot of people thinks he's the best there is! Like I said, My friends want a 4th movie where he goes Super Saiyan 3..... :P the 1st and 2nd movie were fine. we definitely didn't need Bio Broly. they could have used the money and time to make us a new villain and story instead of giving us him again. :P Just my opinion.

Edit - I won't be able to reply back today because I gotta go to the hospital in a bit. Just throwing that out there in case someone replied to me and I didn't answer. I didn't want somebody to think I was ignoring them. lol

It doesent help when the director of the films simply couldn't come up with any ideas for a stronger villain.

Then again there was PtETSS but we never got that dubbed.

Huh? Why? I can't think of anything less likely than them even wasting time with something like that. Not only did their relationship with the guy fracture over ten years ago, but they don't even bother replacing anime scores anymore.

Not to mention that almost none of the other movies have even had Faulconer in them to begin with. Some tracks were used in Movie 4, Faulconer also wrote some stuff for Movie 8. That's it. None of the other Movies had recycled music from the series. They were all originally scored, mostly by Nathan Johnson and Mark Menza.

Who did the soundtracks of the first 3 Ocean Dub movies? I don't keep up with this stuff much haha but they didn't use the entire Japanese soundtrack did they? I don't think they did at-least? but I really loved it a-lot. heck, I may watch the first movie tonight. :P

The Ocean dubs of Movies 1-3 used just the original Kikuchi score, if I'm not mistaken.

They just used the Japanese music for those — they did add a lot of new sound effects though.

I thought that hanna barbera may have worked around a little on them too? sound-effects and such? I could be mistaken on that.

Ocean replaced most of the sound effects on those movies, but the music was still the Japanese score.

There is the TV version of Tree of Might with the Shuki Levi music and Ian Corlett's Goku but that's a totally different version to the one with Japanese music and Peter Kelamis Goku.

Not really replaced. More like overlayed on-top of the already existing SFX.

And I have to be honest, apart from perhaps a few examples of not so great use, the overlayed SFX were actually pretty good.

I have to say this dubbing is weird:

playing the japanese version at the same time?

Apart from Corlett/Kelamis, did all the other VAs dub the movie twice? Sounds strange.

These are the voice actors in the Catalan dub, and they're not dubbing, but rehearsing the lines before recording.

That's how VAs dub in Spain (I don't know about other countries): they first hear the original version, then they read their lines while listening to the original audio, and when they're ready to go, the sound is muted and they start recording.

Yep. All the same VA's, just with different music, different scripts and edited + cut footage.

Yes all the VAs performances are different for both versions. A famous example is Turles saying to Piccolo something along the lines of "You singed my fingernails" in one version and "that was hot and spicy" in another. The Pioneer (Kelamis) version seems to have more faithful dialogue while the TV (Corlett) version is filled with ad-libbed lines similar to the way the show was dubbed on TV. This is especially noticeable during the final staredown where Goku and Turles exchange final words while in the Pioneer version they are both silent for most of it.

Anyway I feel like we've gotten off topic so I'll stop there.

So... there's this poster going around that a mod over at The Fandom Post posted. People with keener eyes than myself are claiming that they can make out Tiffany Vollmer, Meredith McCoy, and Brad Jackson are on the poster in place of their Kai replacements. I can see the first (second row under the 7) but can't make out the other two.

If it's a fake, it's a pretty good one. That looks about how they'd organize the logos in the bottom corners. Also, why would someone bother doing this?

Credit to NJ_'s twitter which is where I saw this.

edit: for comparison this is the poster FUNi is currently using on facebook
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Seems fake to me. I refuse to believe any professional would fade a green gradient along the bottom of the image just to layer their text on top of. Looks like utter shit.

And if it isn't fake? Well, I have no interest in the dub any longer. Reverting back to that garbage cast is a sin.

Seems to me like some talentless, nostalgia driven dub fan is trying to start rumours focusing on his awful vision of an ideal cast.
