I'm just waiting to see how DIMPS handles non-beam super attacks, what was presented as 'rush' attacks in the Tenkaichi/RB games. If there is some actual unique start up animation/frames and they actually occur in real time, then I will feel my optimism increasingly justified. It's one of the other things Spike got wrong in their series'.

You and your cousin don't know what you are talking about. There is no possible way you have mastered all of the characters and still think that they play the same. And none of the "good" fighting games have all of their characters playing similarly.TheGmGoken wrote:To everyone who responded. Well he's been a hardcore fighting game fan since he was 4 years old. He's 20 right now. That's a lot of time. I'm sure he knows what he talking about. You don't understand how long he sometimes practice until this dat every game he owns. Fighting wise. I'm most likely have little knowledge(as John said) but John damn sure knows what he talking about. I can pop open a game right now and record.

I don't know what else to tell you. I'm as open to other opinions as anyone else on here, but if your cousin thinks that all fighting game characters play the same, then I don't care how much of a "hardcore fighting game fan" he is, he's wrong. Tekken alone has at least twenty distinct fighting styles in the newest game, and while I can't speak from experience for the others (aside from Smash Bros,) judging from the comments I've seen here, the characters don't play the same there, either.TheGmGoken wrote:Well he's been a hardcore fighting game fan since he was 4 years old. The characters from Super Smash (favorite game besides Assassin Creed series) have either three "classes".
1. Powerhouse Speed(up for air attacks and over for dash. See Falcon. Ike. Fox.)
2. Freedom fighting aka all around. Normally up for power attacks and regular B button are long range. See Pit or Link
3. Defensive. Characters who are weak but have defended attacks that requires strategy. Qq Game and Watch.

Listen, I'm a fighting game nut too. My first fighter was Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter. I have been playing fighting games for well over 15 years and let me tell you as someone who has played Jin from Tekken 3 to Tekken 6, I have yet to master him. The only two fighters I have ever mastered are Brad Burns from VF5: Final Showdown, and Mitsurugi from SC4. Otherwise every time I fight online, I'm always learning something or seeing a new combo.TheGmGoken wrote:Well he's been a hardcore fighting game fan since he was 4 years old. He's 20 right now. So no offense, but as a fellow fighting game maniac, unless your bro is some sort of recluse, there is no way he's mastered every character of Tekken 6, arguably the deepest fighting series ever made which sports a roster of 40 characters each with their own diverse movesets consisting of a average to 80-100 moves each.

At this point, I'm going to firmly request that all further conversation -- particularly until any new details are revealed -- strictly relate in some way to XENOVERSE itself. These threads become too unwieldy and too off-topic early on toward the announcement, and it needs to be brought back on-track in a very streamlined way.

Watching the gameplay vid a few times more, I'm hoping that the game won't merely consist of firing ki blasts, doing a combo and sending the opponent staggering away. Hopefully there's some depth, at least nearly to the level of Burst Limit. (After awhile I felt BL got a bit repetitive, there weren't too many options.) I know this is a 3D open arena styled DB game, and it's not like they can vary the attacks as in side-on games with different directions and the attack buttons, so I shouldn't expect too much, but I mean even games such as Final Fantasy Dissidia did a pretty good job within their limitations.
Hopefully DIMPS actually have the time to go as far as they can with the full 3D style. They seem to be getting the speed and fluidity in the movement down right, something I've been frustrated with in Spike's games for a long time, now let's see how far they're taking the combat.

Fight Trunks(base, ssj, ussj) and sword Trunks(base, ssj) are fine as separate characters. Same as adult gohan(base,ssj,ssj2), future gohan(base, ssj) and ultimate gohan. Raging blast 2 did it right with vegeta also when they separated scouter vegeta with vegeta(base,ssj,assj,ssj2) and Majin vegeta. I don't see the problem with separate characters at all, because they make it easier for the fan base to choose their specific favorite character from a certain timeline.

It's also just as easy, and more fun, to have one Vegeta with a variety of costumes. It allows you a lot of freedom, like letting you pretend Saiyan Arc Vegeta can turn Super Saiyan, or stack Maoji on top of that and pretend he transformed without coming to Earth and that caught Babidi's attention out in space.
Future Trunks should remain one character too. The less characters are split from each other, the better. It should only be done when absolutely required, like Gohan's various age gaps.

Exactly. And being that this is Dimps again I expect Freeza's Spaceship, Cooler's Spaceship and Babidi's Mind Control to make a return. Provided that they use the capsule system again.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:It's also just as easy, and more fun, to have one Vegeta with a variety of costumes. Baby Vegeta is a special case though, I'd actually prefer him to be his own seperate character since at least with the Majin upgrade mentally that was still all Vegeta.
If BoG is included in the game I wonder how SSJGod will work. Maybe there'll be a "Will of the Good Saiyans" capsule for Goku.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

I'm more interested, if this game has any mindgames. If charged attacks or guard breaking attacks are in this game, alongside with cancelling these stuffs into movements or another attack string, things might get interesting. Hell, even canceling special attacks like Kamehame-Ha was confirmed, so I might imagine something like some attack string cancelled into Kamehame-Ha or charged attack startup, cancel the startup and spam Ki-Blast to catch evasive movement like dodgeflips or sidesteps. Or I imagine Broly being the grappler of the series with command grabs, armor moves and stuff, which can entirely change the matchup and mindgame. Or even vanishing baits, because face it, it sounds awesome to punish predicted vanishing escapes.
Also also something regarding to character roster:
I don't expect the game having more than 50 characters, although it sounds quite nice. If they are gonna do it, then I hope that DIMPS is making every character unique.
Also I want Videl in this game, because she is just different compared to the rest of the main cast and therefore she would be an interesting character. The last DBZ game appearance of Videl beside of ZBR is DBZ:RB2, which is quite some time.
Also my minimum roster list, which is VERY minimalistic and quite old:
Also regarding possible Character creation. I would love to create other races or even females. Oh well, hope they can get help from Namco regarding CC, because of Soul Calibur.
I DOUBT, that the capsule system from the PS2 games will return, my thoughts only, though.

I don't really want them to go back to the previous capsule and/or transformation system. I would REALLY like to be able to pick a transformation to start from at the beginning of the fight, rather than always starting in base. Also, I hope we get something like "Babidi's Enslavement" or "Galactic Reconstruction" that you just equip to the characters and that causes them to start the battle in that form. I hated only being able to play as Mecha Freeza and Maoji Vegeta after most the fight was already over.goku the krump dancer wrote:Exactly. Agreed. Bebi Vegeta isn't really Vegeta, unless it's an "Tsufruization" item you equip to Vegeta that changes everything about him (moves, animations, quotes, etc.), he should be his own character.

It always was cool having Vegeta go SSJ2 and SSJ3 while in his Saiyan saga armor. I always liked that in Budokai 3.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:It's also just as easy, and more fun, to have one Vegeta with a variety of costumes. Hopefully Dimps takes a look at Zenkai Battle Royal and the Budokai games. I want 59 Jacket Goku and EOZ Jacket Vegeta (Like in ZBR). Theres also Nappa with hair, EOZ Goku, the list goes on.

I would be fine with Mecha Freeza being an costume swap, even if it sounds weird, if you remind, that his non-final forms has no Mecha versions. DIMPS might make Mecha Freeza a seperate character with his own moveset (Super DBZ Mecha Freeza looks awesome) or give his other forms mecha versions.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't really want them to go back to the previous capsule and/or transformation system. Regarding Mecha Coola, I think he should be an entirely seperate character, if he is even in this game.
Maoji Vegeta is quite iffy for me, but I think he might be better of being either a seperate character or you choose from 2 different transformation paths at the character selection, which I'm hypothising atm.
