Crazy new ways to do multiplayer weren't mentioned at all at E3. I doubt they'll be a focus.

The fact that they didn't show it, or even mentioned anything close to that at all, leaves you with just a lock-on reticle.Drev wrote:there are 7 hints in the gameplay video that suggest 4 player multiplayerKendamu wrote:Crazy new ways to do multiplayer weren't mentioned at all at E3. EDIT: Reminder of the possibility of said reticle being just an alpha thing, to make sure that the lock-on system (a thing present in games such as Sparking/BT series and Raging Blast series) is working properly.

I have mixed feelings about that game, the plot to another road sounded perfectly plausable on paper of not encouragable for me, but executed in the poorest way I've ever seen.SSJmole wrote:Not a kingdom hearts fan huh?joke I had too. Yeah I understand now

But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

I never liked the gimmick of muliplayer royal styled combat for games like these, they also turn into a frustrating chaotic mess and skill is thrown out the window every time. Even with a good engine, combos would get broken quicky from interference, and people will get jumpy and start to just mash their way through the crowd.Rukura wrote:Also, I don't understand how everyone got so caught up in this having 2v2. Nothing about this game (aside from the reticle, I guess) hints at that, as opposed to the two games that did have it (Tag Vs and Battle of Z) and showed it from the start.
No they dont. It would cost too much time and money away from the game itself just to do something as superficial as that.sangofe wrote:They'd have to make a lot of dubs to satisfy people all over the world: french, latin spanish, chinese, korean, european spanish, italian...

another hint is the name above the reticle: it doesn't have any sense, but it would in a 4 to 8 player multiplayer, like bozRukura wrote:The fact that they didn't show it, or even mentioned anything close to that at all, leaves you with just a lock-on reticle.Drev wrote:there are 7 hints in the gameplay video that suggest 4 player multiplayerKendamu wrote:Crazy new ways to do multiplayer weren't mentioned at all at E3. The Gundam VS. series/Rise of Incarnates say hi. Not only you need to know how to use ur fighter/mecha on a 1 v 1 scenario, you also need to have a strong teamwork to be able to outsmart your opponent.SingleFringe&Sparks wrote: I never liked the gimmick of muliplayer royal styled combat for games like these, they also turn into a frustrating chaotic mess and skill is thrown out the window every time. Not saying I want this game to be 2v2 (I don't, I'd rather have a port of Zenkai Battle Royal), but it isn't as bad or chaotic as some people think.
Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE" (PS4/XB1/PS3/360) Official Threa
Is 2v2 the best you guys can think of? It could just be the pointer to let you know where your opponent is whilst you're wizzing around the world. For some reason I get the feeling that this game is going to have a really interactive story/main one player game mode. I think the running animations have something to do with it; I can imagine running around and picking up items or whatnot. I've got this adventure feel, but maybe it's just me.
EDIT: My feeling also has something to do with the fact they said that they are creating and want us to have fun with a new dragon ball world, or something along those lines.

Care to enlighten me on thes seven hints? I was at the presentation. Nothing regarding multiplayer was mentioned. I'll give you that the name on the lock-on reticle might be a clue, but what about the other six clues?Drev wrote:there are 7 hints in the gameplay video that suggest 4 player multiplayerKendamu wrote:Crazy new ways to do multiplayer weren't mentioned at all at E3. This is part of why recording isn't allowed during these sessions. Normally a company doesn't have a gameplay demonstration right after the initial announcement because so much will probably change between now and when the game comes out.
Don't get me wrong. If they end up getting some Zenkai Battle Royale stuff into the game, then cool. I just didn't see or hear anything related to it when I was there.

Kendamu, this is basically what i was thinking as well. It's not likely that we get that "Zenkai Battle Royale Stuff" but if we do "then cool". I personally doubt we are getting that multi-player but i would suspect it to be fun if it was included however though there is little to no evidence from what i see other then that lock-on mark (which can be grasping at straws this early in time). To what Drev is saying i would love for it to be true personally, but i just don't see the evidence. If you end up being correct i will be right there with you welcoming the news.Kendamu wrote:Care to enlighten me on thes seven hints? I was at the presentation. This is the article i made about it (in Italian): http://www.gameshinbun.it/dragon-ball-x ... ltiplayer/Kendamu wrote:Care to enlighten me on thes seven hints? I was at the presentation. Now i try to quickly translate in English:
1) Above both characters' bars there is a "1P", why?
2) Name of the character above the lock-on reticle
3) No QTEs (for now)
4) We don't see Freezer/Cell/Buu's Ki Bars, just life bar, like boz
5) Above lock on reticle there is a little red triangle, probably to let us now if the target is ally or enemy
6) There's an arrow from goku and one from cell...it would be useless to have two arrows for just 1v1, because it's obvious that the only one enemy in the screen is aiming at me, who else?
7) in the buu fight, buu's enemy bar appears ONLY when locked.
So? Am i right or what?

What you're analyzing is little more than a "proof of concept" build of the game's engine. I think you're looking too deeply into it and seeng things that could eventually lead where you're talking about, but probably weren't implemented for those specific reasons.

A lot of what you're pointing out in your 7 reasons that prove what you want to see are more than likely there for technical reasons related to it being a very early demo of the game.
I mean, seriously, what does both sides having "1P" above the health bar prove? Think. It's also not unusual in anime based games' story modes for the opponent not to have his energy meter showing, during boss fights. Much less in an early build, where the only energy bar shown belongs to the playable character.
The arrow and reticle? We've had 3D 1v1 Dragon Ball games with radars that function with the lock-on system. Once again, it might even just be there to make sure it's working as intended.
No QTEs? Would it be THAT surprising, in a story battle, even if it there were?
In short, my point is:
None of what you think you're seeing points one way or the other, nor can it be taken as clear, full-proof evidence of anything. I admit that I want this to be just 1v1. But nobody is right about anything other than it being a Dragon Ball 3D fighting game.

Rukura is right in saying that we are all seeing what we want to see. Drev's evidence almost compels me because i want it to be true. As for Rukura he sees it as grasping at straws and he wants 1v1. We are all seeing what we want to see and we just don't know, well said Rukura.Rukura wrote:A lot of what you're pointing out in your 7 reasons that prove what you want to see are more than likely there for technical reasons related to it being a very early demo of the game.

Looks like we get to explore the dragon ball world and fight instead of just fighting. Hopefully the story mode has the depth that b3 had. Best story mode in a dbz game in my opinion. What do u all think?
