By the way I'm not sure if you are aware but I just found out that Hikaru Midorikawa, the voice actor of Android #16 and the replacement actor of Tenshinhan, is the voice of Fiore and Ali from the Sailor Moon R movie and the first arc of Sailor Moon R respectively.

I don't really know much about the full-color manga, so I really have no idea. Didn't even know that...
I was referring to 4:54 in your video.
I have a soft spot for him, but I'm not over the moon about him or anything. To be honest, none of Piccolo's henchmen really do anything for me or stand out in any particular way. So, like I said, I like Piano because he's around the longest, is always at Piccolo's side, is the only one who's not a fighter, and looks cool.
Really? What do you consider "good" henchmen, then? I at least like Tambourine, due to his cool design, his relative effectiveness, and his martial artist murder spree.
Well, I still think you should watch his reviews of Pilaf-22nd Budokai anyway, his reviews are fun to watch.
Thank you. And I agree. You should, RandomGuy96. I certainly hope they're enjoyable. And, if anything, maybe they'll help give you a better appreciation for the earlier bits of the series. :D
Sure, why not. I recognize why some people would like the pre-Piccolo parts more, I just generally find them less interesting because there's an absence of genuinely threatening villains and exciting and dangerous battles that feel "big". Even stuff like Goku storming the RRA compound and losing to Tao fail to draw any interest, because Goku is in no real danger in the former and it's a short one-sided beat down that proceeds to become a reversed one in their rematch in the latter

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Oh, that? He's definitely not "white" there. It's just not in full-color. This is one of those red- and gray-scale chapters. Bora and Upa are definitely shaded darker than anyone else, but it's not like he's a dark brown either.

Someone like Zarbon, for example, who actually has a distinct personality. Aside from their designs and their jobs, all of Piccolo's fighting henchmen are fairly indistinguishable from one another.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, it's not.

Yeah I thought so, guess it was part of Furuya/Toei's quest to make Yamcha look cool.

The aftermath of Yamcha's fight with Kami is different too:

Oolong is complaining about how Yamcha is smiling despite losing

Lunch mentions that he had an awesome attack and his training didnt go to waste (Hey an "interaction" of Lunch/Yamcha)

Master Roshi mentions that he had a good technique, but his oppenet was too good.

Puar and Bulma basically break fourth wall asking why Yamcha is always first to battle the strong guy.

Where as none of that happens in the manga, the last one might be a good representation that people noticed the Worf Effect factor though.

Well, they'd done a similar thing with Kuririn in the last match, where they flash back to his first appearance, and then Muten Roshi lauds his progression as a martial artist. Since the arc as a whole seemed to be a maturation of the characters and a culmination of their time together, it makes sense they'd add in moments that praised how far they'd come.

Yup, and Krillin deserves it too. The tournaments are criticized for making character who cannot fight irrelevant, but watching the 23rd Budokai, it still has a group feel to it. The gangs all together, with the exception of Chaozu, but I guess Toriyama was allergic to drawing clowns. Later arcs don't really have that feel, do they?

I watched the first four episodes of the original Saint Seiya on the recommendation of our own Mewzard. The main character Pegasus Seiya, is voiced by Toru Furuya. More interestingly, his love interest Miho is voiced by Naoko Watanabe; the voice for Puar, Suno, and Chichi. I thought Chichi was voiced by Mayumi Sho?

Sho Mayumi voiced Chichi from the beginning of the series until about halfway through the Freeza arc. Apparently she retired from acting after that, and Watanabe Naoko has taken the role ever since then.

I know Shou Mayumi did eventually act again in NHK ni Youkoso and Pretty Cure.

I dunno, watching this made me like the earlier arcs less than I already did with you pointing out a whole slew of flaws I hadn't really seen myself before.

Then I'm curious to see if his reviews of the arc you do like make you like them less or even more.

Meh. None of them changed my opinion. Actually made me like my favorite arc(Piccolo Daimao) more.

Doubt it, because I already don't agree with most of what I've seen him say about them. Like the Piccolo Daimao arc.

Just off the top of my head some plot holes I didn't notice myself, the whole thing with Ox King going nowhere, the first tournament having a lot of nonsense in it (contradicting the rules several times, completely nonsensical ruling on Goku's Kinto'un without justification just so he can win) aaand I've only seen the first two arcs since youtube is unkind to me. They're all pretty minor but they add up when there's so many things like that.

I haven't seen the Daimao arc videos, but I've seen GafferTape's posts and others about his opinions on it. Not just talking about the series but what GafferTape has said in general.
