Schemmel just tweeted himself recording this scene from the booth. Anyone know off hand whether this scene is extended cut only? I don't have my theatrical cut with me right now.

I honestly didn't think there was a chance in hell we'd get the extended version (I hoped for it, sure, but not much more than that), just due to the fact that Japan hasn't gotten it on DVD yet, and you know how fearful Toei and Japanese companies in general are of reverse importation. I didn't notice the Fuji logo either. Perhaps they don't have the rights to the extended version yet but are having the actors do the scenes anyway to save flying them all back in just in case they happen to acquire it back in the future. Cost effectiveness!

But yeah, Sabat probably downloaded the extended cut, asked Simmons to translate it, and recorded lines just in case he ever had the chance to mix to the extended cut.

I want to point this out: FUNimation has in the past (and probably still does, to this day, given the image above) use rips/fansubs for their dubbing materials, as sometimes there's a delay in getting the materials in and they want to get the show in production as soon as possible. I can't seem to recall where I heard this exactly, but it's definitely something FUNimation does from time to time.

I had no idea FUNi used TV rips and fansubs and stuff for recording. I guess I just always assumed they didn't start production until they acquired everything. Thanks for that info, ChibiGoku.

If Schemmel's tweet is true, then awesome. A release with both cuts (accessed on the same disc via seamless branching) would be perfect. So much good (potential) news!

It feels so great to get some great actual news in the middle of all this Buu arc shenanigans. I was worried about this, but it seems Funimation is doing the right thing by getting both of them out.
