Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I'm really torn on this. I like OP/ED for the international releases a lot, but on the other hand the content of these episodes don't seem to be staying true to the initial rules of Kai. With what we've seen from the episodes airing on Fuji TV, especially with the pacing of the more recent episodes, what they've removed from the source material works pretty well. Leaving in all this extra footage just seems unnecessary.

I was specifically referring to the Buu arc, which would be the last two boxes. I know they've gone out of print, however, so yeah, I get your point.Son Goku wrote:Well, I guess that's still feasible if you have over a thousand dollars to dosh out. Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
It would definately be interesting to hear the original NEP.
This is weird caring to make a 30-seconds piece for Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go's NEP, but not 3-seconds jingles for eyecatches and a 10-seconds track for the title.
"Quick, let's create 30 seconds of new music so that the NEP matches the opening, cause it's definately important that the presentation matches the opening/ending!"
"And should we also create 10 seconds of new music for the title and 3 seconds for the two tracks of the eyecatches? Cause we could do it even faster, in two hours max!"
"Nah, we don't have time, and it's not important that the presentation matches the opening/ending!"
Anyway, of course the first one who gets his hands on high quality videos of the international openings/endings should tell the others!
This may take months.

I agree with you. However, did the Yamamoto title track match Dragon Soul? The NEP theme did, the eyecatcher theme did, so I suppose that the title theme does too, but I can't hear the similarity. Sometimes I have a wonderful sixth sense for music, while others... I don'tCold Skin wrote:It would definately be interesting to hear the original NEP.

Just out of curiosity, what was the title music used for the Kikuchi version of Episodes 1-98? I haven't seen Kai yet.

I haven't seen Dragon Ball Z with the Kikuchi score, either. Does anyone know the number designation of the BGM?

I heartily recommend watching some episodes of the original DB/DBZ or the movies in Japanese if you can. It's a world of difference (music and performance-wise) from the old Z dub or even Dragon Ball Kai.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I plan on seeing the entire thing from start to finish in Japanese (I have the bricks). I've still got a lot of other stuff I'm watching, too, though. I definitely want to, so that's not an issue for me. I have seen all of Dragon Ball with the original score, though, since it's the only option. (When you say old Z dub, do you mean the one on the Remastered Sets, or like the really old one? I haven't seen the really old one)theoriginalbilis wrote:Sounds like a problem that needs to be rectified.Valerius Dover wrote:I haven't seen Dragon Ball Z with the Kikuchi score, either.

Anyway, the point was I don't think it really mattered that Fight It Out was retained on the title card since the Yamamoto and possibly Kikuchi title cards didn't have anything related to the other music.

Its the same damn thing. Fucking idiots. I couldn't finish the episode that Sur-Gi recorded for me. The music is awful compare to the original. Even the trash the American call music is better(I prefer Bruce Production in this arc). I suggest you don't waste your money on this shit and don't even waste your ugly(hurtful) eyes watching it. Not worth it. Just go watch Dragon Ball Z. I loved Dragon Ball Z Kai. But I don't know how they fucked up the Majin saga. It's the even the same idea no more. Why is the animation quality darker(better than green tint). What purpose did that serve. What's fucking worst is Korea lost the damn World Cup(I know right made me sad). Why the world hates me!? My country lost and my favorite anime is turning to shit. Why didn't they just remake the damn series. Whoever behind the project is a bitch. Fuck him! Even the Japanese version was filled with crap. They mix six episodes and still didn't advance the plot(referring to Kai 110 which was all over the place with filler from different episodes).

Whoa, somebody's pissed.
Well, I'm not going to let those words discourage me.
I'm pretty excepting of filler, and in all honesty I just want this for the new dub. The new score is a plus, too, since I always like a fresh approach. I do actually like the Faulconer Productions score, as many may have guessed. So, I'll probably like the stuff Sumitomo did, too. I also have yet to fully experience the Kikuchi score in it's full splendor (beyond the original Dragon Ball) but believe me, I'll get there. I'm currently placing Kai on a priority, though. (When I do get there, I'll probably do a thread about my experience seeing it, like Herms is doing now).

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I'll be totally honest, between Kai and DBZ, I think DBZ is the better show. By far the biggest reason I was interested in Kai to begin with was the new, much more loyal dub. Ideally, I would have preferred that FUNimation re-dub DBZ. Of course, there's no way they're going to do that, and I don't blame them in the slightest for not doing that (there's no way they'd make back their money), but I don't mind a higher episode count in the international version because that's closer to what I wished for*...a full re-dub.
*Insert joke relating to the dragon balls here.
Sure, it may be violating the "rules" of Kai by not cutting the filler, but again, in the interest of blunt honesty, cutting out the filler was never the real point of Kai...the real point of Kai was for Toei to find an excuse to put an old hit show back on TV and masquerade it as something "new." So when you look at it that way, by including a higher episode count, Toei is just dropping the masquerade and being more blatant about what the real point of Kai was all along.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."
Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Kai's two biggest advantages has always been first and foremost the much improved pacing and second the enjoyable English dub. As of the Buu arc it's now down to just the English Dub unfortunately, at least for the international version.
Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
So the International Cut will run for 69 episodes, right?
The original run from the beginning of the Other World Tournament Arc to the end of the Buu Arc ran for 96 episodes, meaning 27 episodes will be cut from it.
Kai's original run cut about 49.5% of the episodes: 96 out of 194.
The Buu run of Kai will cut 28.1% of the episodes: 27 out of 96.
Does the Buu arc of DBZ have fewer filler scenes than the Saiyan Arc to Cell Arc portion? It covers about 33% of the entire series in anime form. Only counting the DBZ part (Chapters 195 to 520) of the manga, the Buu content (Great Saiyaman to the end of Buu) covers 98 out of 325 chapters, which is about 30% of it.
So I guess that answers my question...

How i feel right now.
That's it.
I'm done.
I'm fucking done with Kai AND Toei.
The only reason i wanted Kai in the first place was to remove the filler.
Now it's pointless.
I don't care anymore, why should i care when Toei only cares about money?
They have no artistic integrity, no passion for their work. They only care about their wallets.
I'm so insulted that they think they can give us foreigners shit, will they edit their "good version" for themselves.
They completely butchered Toriko, they destroyed Dragon Ball Kai, they gave terrible animation and pacing to One Piece, they put subpar animators to work on Battle of Gods... i was right, they are the worst animation company in the world.
The only talents here are the voice actors, it's a shame they had to work on this shit.
You did it, Toei. I now officially hate you.
I will not support Toei anymore, no longer will watch nor buy any of their products.
Just like i no longer support Studio Pierrot.
I won't watch Kai anymore, nor bother looking into these forums for information about Kai.
I will always remember the first 99 episode fondly, and what the Buu Saga could've been.
It's been a fun ride, but like it always happens, Capitalism killed.

Why put in the work to make a quality product when people will buy an ok or bad one ? Toie are like any company and that's to make $$$ the cheapest way posibleFlame Dragon wrote:

If anyone is to blame for what's happening to kai and other anime it's the fans
Take battle of gods for example,Bad writing and bad animation yet not only did it make $$$ and will make more but a lot of fans say it's the best movie in the series,So if anything the next movie will have worse animation and writing
Another example is the funimation dvd/blu-ray season sets which have very bad video quality yet are alwayse on the top 10 best selling amazon anime list,So why bother with an expensive release like the levels when you can sell thoes cheap seasons and make the same if not more $$$ ?
Sure it sucks what they did with kai but seeing as it's eather that or the Z season sets i'd take kai over thoes any day
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
