The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
But why is everyone assuming that the additional Japanese version is what's delaying international distribution, or even Funimation's official statement? The show was already officially announced (more than two months ago) for broadcast in four countries, and it's already airing in another one.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Because, and I don't know how to delicately put it, those other countries just don't matter.
It's like how Battle of Gods feels like it's coming to the good ol' USA dead last. We're the biggest and we've got what's arguably the biggest pull with the franchise in the entire world now. Too many companies in the mix and too much money in the mix with too many extra contracts in the mix.
The Korean dub doesn't affect anything beyond just that region, but a FUNimation English dub affects at least three continents, never mind countries.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I wonder if your cousin could tell us what filler is being kept in, GmGoken.
I don't mind if they keep extended battle filler, or even filler fights like SSJ2 Goku VS Kid Buu or Base Vegito VS Buuhan.
However, if they keep stuff like Gohan's date, Chichi and Videl in the afterlife, Inside Buu Adventures and all that other crap, that's a big nono for me.
Also, it would be interesting to hear if the placement is improved, if Goku's Return from the Afterlife has a better music in our version, then my theory that the music placed in that particular moment was a rushjob would be true.

Telling from my Cousin's angry reaction(on previous page) I'm guessing (I can text him later) quite a bit. I'm guessing the first date isn't there though. The Korean dub is still with the Saiyanman shit so there's your estimate guess. Aren't they 4 or 5 episodes in?I wonder if your cousin could tell us what filler is being kept in, GmGoken
Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
In regards to the "International Version" with the Nappa guy in - I understand why a lot of you aren't happy about it.
But, I think Toei have attempted to adapt the missing Manga Chapter - 425 as much as possible. Also, the latter part of Chapter 424 was done differently in the anime, apart from a scene or 2 here:
Dragon Ball Z #201/Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters #100: Gohan strikes his pose for Videl:

Videl gives the same reaction here:

Now below are various scenes from Manga Chapters 424 (latter half) & 425 - and comparison pics from the episode in question #203 - featuring the Nappa lookalike. The pics below are where the scenario and dialogue pretty much are very, very similar, or even at times, the same in both Manga & Anime:

(After this scene, Gohan even utters the words "Gohan, you idiot!")

I have no doubt that this could be a case of Toei thinking they can get an extra episode to sell by combining elements from 2 "fillers", but to be fair, I have found a lot of content in this one episode alone that matches various scenes from the 1 & 1/2 chapters that were depicted differently in the anime, along with dialogue.
Apologies for all the pictures, Hujio & VegettoEX - please remove them if you wish (I didn't know how to shrink them down).
As far as I can tell, in the "Final Chapters" there are 4 Saiyaman Episodes:
99 & 100 match DBZ 200 & 201.
101 is a combination of DBZ episodes 202 & 203.
102 matches DBZ 204 (Videl finding out Saiyaman's identity, something else completely different in the anime) Even Japan had no way around not including that one.
103 should be combining DBZ 205 & 206 and is about to air this week, and from the looks of the title, it will go up to where Goten turns Super Saiyan in front of Gohan.

I've never and don't intend to watch DB in English, so I don't care about a dub, I'll just stick to the Japanese version.

I swear if its not the same Goten voice as in Z I'm not watching Korean Kai.
From what I heard I hate this new Gohan voice. Both Toonivere and Champ Gohan were Great! So my cousin told me as said in previous post(later confirmed by Dbz_Lee) is 4 episodes of SaiyanMan and next episode Goten SSJ!

Dbz_Let covered it and I briefly mentioned it. My cousin was right about 4 episodes of Saiyaman and Dbz_Lee confirm it once again.JEFFMAN219 wrote:Hey did you ask your cousin if they took out the Gohans date episode.TheGmGoken wrote:I swear if its not the same Goten voice as in Z I'm not watching Korean Kai.

How many episodes of Saiyaman was there in Z? Seeing as 202 is Gohan first date............DBZ_Lee wrote:As far as I can tell, in the "Final Chapters" there are 4 Saiyaman Episodes:

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Hi Guys,
From what I can gather - Episode #101 of Dragon Ball Z Kai (International Version - It is so mad I'm having to even type that lol) will contain content from both "filler" episodes of the Great Saiyaman Arc.
My post above with the pictures is my attempt at trying to explain why I think Toei has included them in the first place.
The episode title is "Videl crisis!? Roadside? Gohan!" Korean: "비델의 위기!? 손오반 긴급 출동!" (Not sure about the translation, but hey).
This title gives a more clearer indication that the content will feature Gohan leaping to Videl's aid - much like he does in that missing chapter & a half (and also in the 2 fillers).
All three pics below are taken from Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters #101
Here is the compounding evidence that Z Episode #203 will play a prominent role: (Thanks to kei17 for the picture)

The images below are taken from DBZ #202 (Thanks to DongHyun for the pictures)

This one below is taken from DBZ #203

So, I think that judging from the pictures we have seen, and the title, it will draw the majority of content from DBZ #203.
I don't think we will be seeing hardly any of the "Date Scenes" as it really has nothing to do with the plot - I believe it will start with Gohan making his way towards the towering inferno.
Perhaps DongHyun would be kind enough to confirm this?.
Another interesting comment was that one of the producers of this Arc, from Toei, Mr. "Norihiro Hayashida" who, at Anime Japan this year, stated that it was their intention to make this as faithful to the Manga as possible (Thanks to dbgt for the information).
I know he was referring more to fixing errors, but I also believe he may have been referring to the overall content.

Is there a way for us to watch the Korean version of the show? I want to see how the international version is like before I buy it.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
My best translation of the title would be "Videl's Crisis!? Son Gohan's Emergency Dispatch!"..... which is a slightly different interpretation of the title of Z 203, "Gohan, Get Moving Quick! Rescue Videl!!" in Kanzenshuu's translation.
Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I'm sorry for being so negative, but from what i've seen so far, Kai should be forever marked as perfect example of "How not to do a remake" Everything went wrong with it so far, music fiasco, bad filler/original material balance, and now this, it`s like pre-1989 Poland, when products made for iron curtain imports were better quality, then in-house products.

Has anyone uploaded a clean video of the intro and ending to the international version of Kai yet? I really want to hear clearer versions of Never give up! and Fight it out!

Well, from this English fan's perspective, we at least got a great dub out of it. Otherwise though, yes, that has been the only redeeming factor of an otherwise huge mess.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Episode #5 of the International Version aired in Korea Yesterday.
As I thought, next week's episode: #6 will be Gohan teaching Videl how to fly.
Korean Title: "6화 선생님이 된 오반! 비델 무공술 입문"
From what I can gather (using google) It pretty much mirrors the Japanese Kai title for this episode: "Gohan’s the Teacher! Videl’s Introduction to Flight".

I know it's just a word swap is not that big of a deal but that's how I translated. Also to be sure(Even though I hate Google translate) here's what Google translate gave me
Chemistry teacher in Oban! Bidel Gong introductory wine "
The Bold words are the CORRECT wording. Yes Videl is Bidel in Korean.
