Wow that was just dreadful. Hahaha "this is the definitive release", "yo fuck level sets 1.1 and 1.2, fuck that bullshit".
It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

At least he admits to liking Kai and not brushing it off due to nostalgia like the usual fanboy.

This guy is hilarious. His Dragon Box segment is wishy washy, but it made me laugh. But I know a lot of people are butthurt right now so I'm not gonna dwell on his opinions.

I don't understand why he said he's rather have 4x3 in Rock the Dragon set but not the Dragon-boxes? that doesn't make sense? at-least to me... :? Also he doesn't seem like the kinda person that I'd want to be friends with/talk to on here. ''If you like 4x3 Go F*ck yourself'' really? How's this guy expect to gets subscribers and surpass that 102 views count with an attitude like that?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

On the Japanese track only. I use marathon mode so it doesn't bother me that it isn't on the English tracks.

Why'd they replace Cha la head cha la with that god awful track from their movies, I can maybe understand them using it on the American track but it's weird to not have it on English + Japanese Audio.

It makes even less sense when they leave Zenkai Power unaltered in both tracks. (atleast on the OBs)

The English-with-Japanese-music track is the default audio on the season sets. I simply don't think FUNi has matured enough to the point where they can allow "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" to be the first thing your average Wal*Mart shopper or nostalgic Toonami fan hears when they pop these discs in. "This is all Asian! Where's the English?!"

It's mean, but I can't think of any other possible reason. There are no rights issues with the song. It was used as the opening for the dub on the FUNiBoxes. It was used as the opening for some of the less popular movies in their movie packs. It's used in some clips from the blu-ray bonus features. It's obviously being removed from the main show and replaced deliberately.

Was the purpose of posting this YouTube link here to make us downvote the sore loser from the video? If so, then you've succeeded.

"Dragon Boxes are in 4x3 AR but if you want it in 4x3 AR then go fuck yourself"

Makes no sense to call himself "The Retro Goon" when he doesn't even acknowledge that the intended aspect ratio of the series is fullscreen, and I was surprised he didn't say "Rock the Dragon should have been in 16x9 AR because 4x3 AR is fucking shit and looks horrible in that format".

Jeffman, no offence but please don't post this shit or GokuT23's either.

Good grief that was painful to watch.

I went and checked his Rock the Dragon review too and when he mentioned the "amazing rock the dragon opening and not the shitty japanese one" I literally just dropped it.

You already own a VHS player, why the hell you need a DVD player? You already have a bike, why the hell you need a car? :)
Are you trying to say that producing a Blu-ray release of the movie that was already released on DVD is a stupid thing to do?

We complain about this release because:

1. This is one and only Blu-ray release of the Dragon Ball Z TV series - there is no alternative.
2. We don't own any Dragon Ball Z release.
3. We want to UPDATE from Orange Bricks.
4. We want to UPDATE from Dragon Box (SD to HD)
5. We bought HDTVs because we want to watch 1080p shows.
6. We know the capabilities of 16 mm film, we know how DBZ can look in 1080p and we would like to see it.
7. We understand the difference between Blu-ray (1080p) and DVD Video (480p)
8. Due to the fact that some of us can draw, we pay extremely big attention to small details of handmade animation.
9. We have right to discuss things that interest us (don't we?)

Is this enough number of reasons?

Not all of us own the DBoxes. Their limited release made it hard for people that were a little down financially to invest over $200 on DVDs. The backlash against these sets wouldn't be so huge if the Dragon Boxes were still an alternative, and we weren't forced to pick between which cropped release looks the least bad.

I really don't care if some people like this release and other don't. What really upsets me is those who don't like this release put others down who do and question them on why they like this.

He's such an idiot that on his RotDE review he was spinning the discs inside the book which no one should ever do because not only do they already possibly come with scratched but it also makes them in worse condition, which is why I decided to buy a Fat-Pack case for them.

Great packaging but awful for the discs.

Regarding your latter point, I think some of us, myself included, are just entirely baffled as to how someone can like it and so are just genuinely curious.

The only put-downs are directed towards those who consider 16:9 the superior way to watch the series. But hey, it's Kanzenshuu, we're near enough all purists to asshole proportions at times! Woops.

I think it's a little of us seeing someone like this release and instinctively going 'Argh! you're the reason these releases keep selling!'.

It's pretty silly and probably unnecessary but hey, we're passionate!

So, I got a question. What's the music that plays on the Blu-Ray menus? Is it the same as the Orange Bricks?

A lot of it has to do with the fact that Funi is putting out terrible releases in place of good releases. The reason they're doing this is because it's cheaper for them, and not enough people are demanding better. The people who actually say they like these releases are telling Funi they want bad releases instead of good releases... which yes, quite understandably annoys the people who want the good releases Funi can't be bothered to give them.

That make sense?

Season 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SIzC2XgROk
Season 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYoY-lNfJQ0
Season 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tglt4vqdEU
Season 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-T3XdzIqRM
Season 6 will probably be this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcp_KM6Ndhc if they do use this as Season 6 theme's (as expected) that'd be awesome :D

edit:

I feel like this is directed at me. I don't think it's the superior way just my preferred way. And I'm sorry you have such a big problem with it.

Weird, I don't recognize any of these themes, and they certainly don't sound like Kikuchi to me. The Season 5 one almost sounds like 17 and 18's theme at the beginning, but otherwise it seems those have no connection to the US score either. :?
