Sonmay... Isn't that one of those old-school bootlet CDs? I seem to remember that name from when the podcast was Daizenshuu EX. It would also explain why it was so cheap, actually.

It's a bootleg? Thanks then Rukura, I'll just send the seller a message to see about cancelling it.

I remember seeing the "SM" logo on other items but couldn't remember if it were a good or bad sign.

Snapped up Dragon Box 7 just now for $41 NZD, which is actually really good. Was hesitant about buying it at first, since I don't really have money to throw around right now (sorry, Dad!), but after seeing the prices on Amazon I decided to snap it up. The seller (who I'm pretty sure is a forum member; LordCrumb, I believe) also had boxes 1 &. 6 for sale, but I was out when their respective auctions finished. They ended up being sold to two different users, so now there's probably a bunch of New Zealanders with incomplete sets of Dragon Boxes.

I now have 3 out of 7 Dragon Boxes...what have I gotten myself into?

After some googleing, it looks like SonMay is a legitimate company, but they are only licensed to sell copies of CDs Taiwan. So you didn't get the original Japanese release, but it's not a bootleg.

Really? Thanks then, it'll be dispatched tomorrow.

I think that this CD contains tracks of Tokunaga's GT score but mostly it'll be from the 4th DB film.

From what I looked at myself (by googling "SonMay"), it seems they are an actual record label in Taiwan. But they seem to be known for releasing anime and videogame music CDs for which they don't have the rights to, therefore bootlegs. And, word is, they're also low quality.
(EDIT: Now would be a great time for the "Foreign" and "Bootleg" sections of the Music Database on the site to be up, because I'm getting kinda confused thinking about this and am just going off of old podcasts memory on this one :? )

Sorry for the late reply guys but yeah I got it from a place called Movie Stop. Its literally just Game Stop but with a more complete focus on cinema. If you can't tell by now, they have just about EVERYTHING (Kai Blue Rays, Ocean Dub singles, Funi Singles, Movie Packs etc), dirt cheap compared to other places as well.

Funny thing is I wasn't even looking for DBox 2 and I definitely wouldn't think that one would pop up there but not only was DBox 2 there but DBox 5 was there too for the same price but Someone either snatched it up or moved it and I just passed buy it and didn't see it.

CLEARLY the person who traded it in had NO IDEA what he just threw away but hey, "one mans trash" right? :)

@LordCrumb

Yeah I know YuYu is great.. I'm the long lost third Toguro brother.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

So here's what I received today:
I wish the slipcovers were in better condition but for the price I paid I can't really be too picky about it, and it didn't came with the cards though to be honest, I don't really care because they were signed by Schemmel/Sabat.

And now what I've recently bought:

Yeah, I wouldn't be too upset about the slipcovers. I think you paid less than me and got reasonably better condition ones so you're set!

Good stuff :D

Definitely! For £7.50 it was totally worth it and now I'm gonna give it a watch!

If you enjoy 1.2, 1.1 wouldnt hurt if you can get a good deal on it :)

You didn't happen to get it from Amazon.com did you?
I had one for a similar price in my basket, (see what all the fuss is about) totally forgot & then after a day it wasn't available from the seller lol. I decided to buy the SHIKI s.a.v.e edition instead of looking for more good deals on the level sets

Cool, I'll purchase it when I got some money, not on the top of my priorities since 1.1 is mostly filler if I'm correct? I really hope they continue the level sets after the season sets but who knows?

Nah. It was from Amazon UK.

Watched the first episode from 1.1 and the quality looks absolutely gorgeous and very grainy now I regret that I didn't support this when it was on pre-order but I guess it wouldn't have made much difference since FUNimation was going to cancel it anyway. :|

Ahh right.
Well you never know it could have made the difference. They could have been 1 sale down & decided to cancel. Course that'd be unlikely.

Bought season 1 today.

I watched 5 episodes of this set today and the cropping is not that bad and the quality looks great. But the cons of this release is they removed the grain so much that the background looks like watered colored. Also some detail from the characters are missing when there is a far away shot. But overall this release is not that bad to be honest.

I just love the packaging for these things and the cover art looks awesome in person.

As convenient as it'd be to simply obtain a full set of seven in one go, there's something neat about simply buying them one by one and slowly building your collection. Really makes you appreciate each individual box set.
