I thought the Season BDs' colours were decent until I've seen this, wow they're actually not very good in comparison to Kai's natural colours.qjz123 wrote:I did a comparison between Kai and the Season sets I also included a couple of digitally retraced scenes.Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:Spoiler:

Yes, very true on all points, and point 8 really hits home for me!Kojiro Sasaki wrote:We complain about this release because:
1. This is one and only Blu-ray release of the Dragon Ball Z TV series - there is no alternative.
2. We don't own any Dragon Ball Z release.
3. We want to UPDATE from Orange Bricks.
4. We want to UPDATE from Dragon Box (SD to HD)
5. We bought HDTVs because we want to watch 1080p shows.
6. We know the capabilities of 16 mm film, we know how DBZ can look in 1080p and we would like to see it.
7. We understand the difference between Blu-ray (1080p) and DVD Video (480p)
8. Due to the fact that some of us can draw, we pay extremely big attention to small details of handmade animation.
9. We have right to discuss things that interest us (don't we?)
And if people own a release, even if they own said release, that does not mean for people to stop warning others about it, complaining about it, and offering points that could be used for a future re-release. And yes, the problem is that the only available version of Dragonball is edited (pan and cropping is a form of editing, do not forget). Not only that, but standard aspect ratio video can achieve the basic zoom on a TV's options which doesn't differ greatly to the pan and crop that FUNi is doing to DBZ.
The whole pan and crop debacle should not be relevant in this day and age anyways. Old TV sets could not zoom in on the footage like TV sets today. Honestly, isn't that the reason TV's have that option these days?
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Well that was pretty amusing. YouTube kept buffering, I don't even think it wanted me to watch the video.thomas1up wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXcLqvp026UBaggie_Saiyan wrote:What video are folks talking about. Is it another from that GokuT23(?) fella? Can't stand that guy.
This one. Makes GokuT23 look like a godsend
Anyway. Any news on S7 cover? I really don't hope it's the Amazon one, as it feels a waste to have Goku there other than that I like that cover.

These sets don't look that bad except for the cropping and the bright colours.IGhostUlt wrote:nice comparison, these sets really appeal to me

And also for the detail loss, unnatural shaky cam (or jitter, if it's the correct term) and other flaws spout out by others.JEFFMAN219 wrote:These sets don't look that bad except for the cropping and the bright colours.
If FUNimation wanted a modernised Dragon Ball Z series then they already have it: Dragon Ball Kai.
Take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2GMrG-HTqU

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
It's not really jitter, since FUNimation (or &transfer or whoever) manually did that as part of the panning. I wouldn't mind the panning so much (but still wouldn't like it) if they didn't do such a terrible job of it.dbboxkaifan wrote:unnatural shaky cam (or jitter, if it's the correct term)

Tbh I actually really like the Season Set colors, especially in the later seasons of the OBs. The only time I really didn't was some episodes of OB Season 2.
I just wish there was a release with 4x3 with Faulconer music...aka the Level Sets. I'm gonna go cry now

We'll probably get a 4:3 release once they're done releasing these blu rays and kai's buu arcDbzfan94 wrote:I just wish there was a release with 4x3 with Faulconer music...aka the Level Sets. I'm gonna go cry now
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Which won't sell because it'll come right after another complete release of the regular series and another Kai run. They have to draw the line somewhere.sintzu wrote:We'll probably get a 4:3 release once they're done releasing these blu rays and kai's buu arcDbzfan94 wrote:I just wish there was a release with 4x3 with Faulconer music...aka the Level Sets. They're slooooooooooooowly knocking the price down on season 5. it's $28.96

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Maybe, when these are completed I'll wait maybe til next year and see if any new release is on the horizon, if not I'll just purchase these since they're better than the Orange BricksJEFFMAN219 wrote:You plan on getting these sets?thomas1up wrote:Are these blu-rays region free or region locked? Yup and it to me it's a big "no-no" especially this bit.JEFFMAN219 wrote:Have you guys seen this petition? http://www.change.org/petitions/funimat ... on-ball-gt
"Certain episodes of Dragon Ball Z(both edited and uncut) should have the original intro and outro(Cha-La Head-Cha-La(Certain episodes should have the Hironobu Kageyama cover and others should have the Gino Padilla cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J52-aB8bgt4)), while others should have the 1st Toonami intro and outro(Rock The Dragon), the 2nd original intro and outro(We Gotta Power), the 2nd Toonami intro and outro, or the 3rd Toonami intro and outro(Ultimate Uncut). "]
It's almost like funi fans WANT inconsistency!
