Nintendo fans aren't very pleased with Zelda's Dynasty Warriors game and most of them are gearing towards avoiding it because they know it's just another bland DW game with very little originality to it, what's more absurd is that they made a game out of Captain Toad levels from Mario 3D World.

Then again, Zelda Dynasty Warriors is just to fill in until the Real Zelda is released (in 2015) so doesn't matter to most of us (Nintendo fans, such as myself).
Bull, I see tons of hype for Hyrule Warriors AND Captain Toad. Also I'd recommend playing Dynasty Warriors on a difficulty beyond Normal, anything below Hard is brain dead easy and the game is really fun on the high difficulty settings because the enemy AI actually does things.

When I saw Captain Toad's reveal on Nintendo's Treehouse I thought that it was DLC for Super Mario 3D World because that just doesn't deserve to be a full game of itself, especially not a retail one, although it could fall as an eShop title.

If you want to see the reaction of Nintendo fans to Captain Toad's game, just read the lovely comments here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/captain-toad ... re.367779/

Regardless that the new Dynasty Warriors is Zelda themed it's not going to do great if they're going to charge full $60/£40 for it because people aren't stupid to fall for it knowing what kind of game it is even more so Nintendo fans which tend to be picky gamers / niche. Parents probably would rather get Mario Kart 8 for their kid than Zelda DW.

Anyway, I'd buy Zelda DW for £20 max and still get the money's worth but since that's not happening I won't touch it, unless they'll have a playable copy at work then I'll give it a try. /OT

Bandai Namco, for the love of God don't let Dragon Ball be cursed with DW, it's bad enough that it took them around seven years to realise that Dragon Ball on the consoles needed to be developed by Dimps or any other quality developers. I'd love if Platinum Games' developed a Dragon Ball game as they're yet to make a bad one. :P

It's not like if you own a certain console you are required to buy all the games good and bad. There are many games i don't like. But i don't complain like i have to buy and play it.
I could understand if Nintendo said Zelda musou was the Zelda game for the next few years but, it's not. It is just a game to play before the traditional Zelda game releases.

I've always found the hate for DW to be ridiculous. Some of the most fun I ever had playing multiplayer games was playing Co-Op DW4 with a friends. If you get tired of it, leave the franchise for a bit. After 4, I didn't play another game of that style until Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage, and I enjoyed that.

One of my friends is playing what I think is his first DW game ever with 8+XL on Steam, and he seems to be enjoying it, and is also looking forward to Hyrule Warriors.

It looks fun. Sometimes you do just want a nice beat 'em up to enjoy. If not, it's not the only Zelda game coming, and I will be enjoying the new one the main Nintendo team's working on.

With DBZ powers, a Musou game could be fun, or maybe not work, but it would depend on the plan for the game going it (I'd rather see a Musou game in the Toriko verse, fighting all the native life in the various locations in the giant world it takes place in).

You act like the opinions of people on that forum are the opinions of every Nintendo fan. The response on large sites like NeoGAF, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and hell even Youtube have been super positive for both games. And how is Hyrule Warriors not worth full price? Do you know how packed with content Musou games are?

Please leave YouTube poop out of this.

Dynasty Warriors' games play all alike each other, though with the difference of having different series containing (new/current) characters, (original) story, graphics close to what the real games of those series resemble as and voice acting (not for Zelda of course).

It's like the Lego games, they use the same engine for all their games and so if you play one of them you'll know exactly how to get around all the other clones. I paid £20 for Lego City Undercover and that was OK though any higher and I'd have refused.

In the end it's your money and you decide what to do with it.

I guess I was at a different E3 2014 than you were, because the people who actually played it thought it was pretty cool. The lines to play it were pretty long all three days of the show.

As for DBZ, I guess the Red Ribbon Army, Saibaimen, Freeza's army, and Cooler's robot dudes from his second movie would make for some decent cannon fodder, but I'm not sure if there's enough different types of those groups to flesh out an entire DBZ Musou-style game. DBZ's mostly remembered for its epic one-on-one confrontations. That's why the Fighting genre has always worked so well for it.

Then again, I guess if you recycle some of the enemy types from games like Attack of the Saiyans (in addition to what I mentioned above), you might get enough different types to make a Musou game. Still, it just feels like a bit of a stretch to me.

I share your sentiments, though I'd been continuing with the warriors system without ever stopping... I admit they get repetitive but I also have a younger brother who keeps my experiences fresh. Gundam truly ranks highest in my book however and I have always wondered why more shounen anime had not gotten the warriors engine treatment

They would have to get really creative with the story and enemies in you ask me cuz I don't wanna play as SSJ3 Goku punching, kicking and blasting my way through hordes of Bear Thieves and Wolves.

This. The Legacy of Goku games get a pass because... it's a very fun looking action game which should look goofy to an extent. But a fully rendered 3D action game, should not have random bandits and bear thieves as enemies to fight. Or giant Saibamen like in Sagas. Speaking of which...

Sagas was kind of like a DW style game, but not really. You had to fight each enemy one at a time if I recall.

Considering how explosive and powerful the characters are on DBZ, I don't know if a DW style can capture it without slowing down the action. Also, aside from the special moves like Kamehameha or Gallic Gun, characters in DBZ generally fight the same, and I'd imagine them all playing the same in a game like that. I don't know how you'd stylize the combos, unless you're Broly then you could clothesline a bunch of people, or Freeza would use his tail.

That would be something where they could watch the series and start noticing cool little things that characters will do, to incorporate into move sets. Stuff like when Goku used just the force of his ki to send Burter and Jeice flying, or Cooler's ability to fly through a Kamehameha, stuff like that.

I figured the only differences would be those little nuances in their fighting styles. I know in Burst Limit, Yamcha had a very "Wolf Fang Fist-like" attack pattern, and Tenshinhan had a very "Shoulin-like" style, Piccolo... long arms... etc.

I still think this could be a heck of a lot easier than people are making it out to be, if they would just let a developer be creative and ignore the original story and OMGerd powah levels.

Take a page out of the Hyrule Warriors playbook and set it in its own continuity. Even at its most basic, just pretend like they're on some super sized planet where most of the factions live and have their own "kingdom". You could have seven of them, each with a Dragon Ball to help propagate peace. Every five years, the kingdom's come together for a tournament (Tenkaichi Budokai) in the 8th, neutral kingdom in order to display their strength. The winner gets to use the Dragon Balls for their homeland. Never winning, one of the evil factions does something evil and cliche, causing war to break out. As the war wages on, if morale and a few other meters get high enough or something, then the kingdom can summon their Dragon Ball's spirit and allow their Xing Long to appear and rampage on the battlefield for a bit. The more Dragon Balls they gather, the more overall power they can have, until they conquer everything and restore order or rule with an iron fist.

Kingdom #1 -- Earth
Ruler(s): King of Earth & Mr. Satan
Generals: Muten Roshi, Son Goku, Son Gohan, Son Goten, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Chaozu, Uub, Pan, Z, (Trunks and Future Trunks?)
Gate Keepers: Namu, Giran, Bacterian, Gyumao, Videl, Panput, Pilaf (in mech), Shu (in mech), Mai (in mech), etc.
Heavy Troops: Royal Military, Martial Artists (Use designs from failed Budokai contestants)
Common Troops: Farmers w/ shotguns, Thugs, Pilaf Mechs

Kingdom #2 -- Saiyan
Ruler(s): King Vegeta & Prince Vegeta
Generals: Bardock, Nappa, Paragus, Raditz, Broli, Tullece, Onio
Gate Keepers: Gine, Tarble, Toma, Panbukin, Selypa, Totepo
Heavy Troops: Elite-class Saiyans
Common Troops: Low-class Saiyans, Saibaimen (Various Sagas classes)

Kingdom #3 -- Namek
Ruler(s): Saichoro, Muri, Dende, Kami
Generals: Piccolo Daimao, Piccolo, Nail, Sug
Gate Keepers: Cymbal, Tambourine, Drum, Dorodabo, Angira, Medamatcha, Zeeun
Heavy Troops: Warrior Clan, Demon Clan
Common Troops: Dragon Clan

Kingdom #4 -- Freeza
Ruler(s): Cold
Generals: Freeza, Coola, Kurieza, Chilled
Gate Keepers: Zarbon, Dodoria, Kyui, Gurd, Reacoom, Butta, Jheese, Ginyu, Abo, Kado, Dore, Neiz, Sauza
Heavy Troops: Freeza Soldiers Elites (Melee, Ki Blaster, etc.)
Common Troops: Freeza Soldiers (Melee, Ki Blaster, etc.)

Kingdom #5 -- Red Ribbon
Ruler(s): Commander Red
Generals: 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, Cell
Gate Keepers: Tsuru’sennin, Tao Pai Pai, Blue, Silver, Black
Heavy Troops: Prototype Artificial Humans (Melee, Energy, Tank), Cell Juniors
Common Troops: Red Ribbon Soldiers (Brawler, Gunmen, Swordman)

Kingdom #6 -- Madoshi
Ruler(s): Bidibi & Babidi
Generals: Dabra, Buu, Janenba
Gate Keepers: Yamu, Spopovitch, Pui Pui, Yakon
Heavy Troops: Majin Grunts from Babidi's ship
Common Troops: Various Demons from the series to mix things up

Kingdom #7 -- Machine Mutants
Ruler(s): Dr. Raichi & Dr. Mu
Generals: Bebi, Hatchihyack, Rilld, Llod
Gate Keepers: Neji, Vis, Rivet, Nut, Mucchi, God Guardon
Heavy Troops: M2 Grunts & Ghost Warrior Grunts, Big Gete Robots
Common Troops: Weaker looking M2 Grunts & Ghost Warrior Grunts

Kingdom #8 -- Deity (Neutral)
Ruler(s): Toribot
Generals: Beerus, Whis, Dai Kaioshin, 4 Kaioshin, Kibito
Gate Keepers: Dai Kaio, 4 Kaio, Paikuhan, Olivue
Heavy Troops: Various Fighters from the Anoyoichi Budokai
Common Troops: Oni

Let them have fun with things and add in lots of little nods to the series. Like...
...if #14 and #15 fall in battle while 13 is around, he can become Super 13.
...same thing with Cell and #17 and #18 falling in battle.
...if Neji, Vis, Rivet and Nut are in the same area with high morale, they can become Super Sigma.
...If Vegeta (Freeza, Cell, any of the recent Hakaio, etc.) gets isolated from his troops in the Madoshi Kingdom, Babidi can enslave him.
...the Madoshi Kingdom invades the Earth and Saiyan Kingdoms, they can call a truce and have Goku and Vegeta can fuse to ward them off.
...if Goku encounters #8 on the battlefield, the robit will immediately stop fighting.
...if Goku is on the battlefield, #16 will track him down instead of completing his other mission.
...If Coola comes into contact with Bebi, he can be turned into Mecha Coola and join the Machine Mutant Kingdom.
...Onio can defect to Freeza's Kingdom if he encounters Kurieza.
...if Bebi defeats Vegeta in Battle, he can take over his body.
...if #17 gets isolated from his troops in the Machine Mutant Kingdom, he can be converted to Super 17 and fight for their side.
...and a lot, lot more, plus their own unique things.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.

I'd be up for it if it's done well. I have played the DW franchise since DW3 and own 4 and 7: Empires. Yeah the gameplay formula is relatively still the same but they have done some major changes throughout various installments. It's not like you pop in 3 and 8 next to each other and they look exactly the same.

Plus the DW game is just simple fun. Whats a more fun form of stress relief than to commit a one man genocide in feudal China?

I am personally not a huge fan of the dynasty warriors games, so they would have to put a lot of effort into the game to peak my interest. It would need something unique in the gameplay formula to set itself apart from a normal Dynasty warriors game.

The Dynasty Warriors series is a lot of fun but the repetitive nature of that series would only amplify the fact that most of the dbz warriors fight the same way. By the way there was DBZ Sagas which was out on PS2, Xbox and Gamecube (only came out in America from what I hear of) and it didn't really get good reviews. Some of the other DBZ games did have modes with more than 2 fighters at once, like DBZ Legends and Tenkaichi tag team. Any more than 4 opponents at once is a bit tricky to handle at times though, more than 10 at once would be insane.

I'm not so sure about DBZ, unless they incorporated flying somehow. But I could definitely see this working with the original Dragon Ball series, Kid Goku swinging his power pole around and fighting off swarms of Red Ribbon soldiers, that kind of thing.

I've always been a fan of Dynasty Warriors, yes the formula is very 'safe' but it works and It's great if you just feel like letting off some steam for an hour without having to think too much.
