I agree that Naruto and Sasuke's relationship was better than Goku and Vegetra's in the original Naruto.. if that's what you're trying to saying. but since Shippuden kicked in it got ruined. so i guess it's a draw ?! maybe.. i guess it is. since i'm not the type of person who will hate on something completely cause it got ruined at some point, i still appreciate their relationship and how it was back then.

Naruto/Sasuke because that was a way better fight than the Majin Vegeta fight.

Ironic. Both fights in the manga was very short. While the anime made their fights into something(IMO) epic.Kid Buu wrote:Naruto/Sasuke because that was a way better fight than the Majin Vegeta fight.

Not surprised in Naruto's case, studio pierrot always have been doing a good job with Naruto (except fucking fillers everywhere, everytime) but i'm surprised that Toei really made the fight better than the manga. they didn't actually fuck it up and added an unnecessary filler scene only to drag the fight!TheGmGoken wrote:Ironic. Yeah the fight scenes became hard to follow in the Part 2 manga, but thankfully we have the anime.

Naruto and sasuke's rivalry in act 1 is a PRIME and almost embarrassingly obvious example of the Red Oni Blue Oni trope that's EXTREMELY prevalent in anime. Americans who aren't so exposed to anime might not realize how much of a clique this is, but to anyone who's in the slightest bit exposed to anime, seeing this trope is almost an instant turn off. Yes, naruto and sasuke's own individual back stories are tragic and complex, but their rivalry is not, AT ALL. There's nothing more to it other than, Red oni is jealous of Blue oni, thus obligatory rivalry.
That's that.
There's a lot more to their relationship than that, but that's the extent of their rivalry. From that point on, they were no longer acting on their feelings of rivalry... Sasuke and naruto don't have their famous fight because of a rivalry, they do so because they're friends. Naruto has to fight sasuke because he loves him. Sasuke has to fight naruto because he loves him. Naruto is trying to save sasuke. Sasuke is trying to pursue his goal (defeating his best friend was part of the job description).
Neither one fights to see who's stronger, or because they're competitive with one another, they fight or conflict because of extremely different reasons. Neither one trains or battles for competition's sake, they do so because they both have specific agendas they're trying to actualize. I GUESS this can be deceiving, when we see some of the more recent banter between naruto and (good guy) sasuke, in which, they reminisce about their childhood rivalry. But this is merely a callback to their childhood days. It's ironic though, because the very fact that they're reminiscing about their rivalry, and being playfully competitive again, is meant to SHOW that they're back together, that things have changed. AKA, if it wasn't obvious enough, ALL the events between Red oni blu oni rivalry days and now, were dreadfully serious. NOW things are back to normal, let's be playful again. (this honestly felt so awkward in the middle of a blood bath of a war, but w/e.) The point is. their actual rivalry is shallow and underdeveloped as hell.

As someone who been watching anime for a long time(Back when I still needed bootleg tapes). There's NOTHING wrong with that. Wasn't Vegeta one sided rivalry with Goku based on the same thing. There's nothing more to it other than, Red oni is jealous of Blue oni, thus obligatory rivalry.
The hospital fight says otherwise. Sasuke also needed the power not only for Itachi but for Naruto as well. Remember he felt hurt that Itachi called Naruto more important.Sasuke and naruto don't have their famous fight because of a rivalry, they do so because they're friends.
Sasuke literally just said this a few chapters ago. Just curious but what chapter is the last one you read? To the other half of the post, Naruto kinda did train for competition sake.Neither one fights to see who's stronger, or because they're competitive with one another, they fight or conflict because of extremely different reasons. Neither one trains or battles for competition's sake, they do so because they both have specific agendas they're trying to actualize.
And Goku vs Vegeta was this deep emotional one. Naruto vs Sasuke been developed since the moment Sasuke debut. Their relationship was developed EVEN MORE.their actual rivalry is shallow and underdeveloped as hell.

Naruto and Sasuke were definately inspired by Goku and Vegeta.
An orange cheerful and goofy hero that will always be on the side of good and a blue, gloomy warrior from some "elite" type of fighters who has to slowly figure out and accept his place in the group, even though he will temporarily turn against the orange hero along the way.
Ever since Sasuke had become an "enemy", I knew what was the objective plotwise:
