Yeah, that's my one real problem with these sets, luckily there aren't too many of there zoomed out shots(that I can remember).

Woah, just noticed this thread is almost at 291 pages!

Even if this release were in 4x3 AR it still wouldn't be very good due to the DNR they did to it as well as darkening it which they've become used to as if it's something we appreciate (Toei Animation has certainly taken a liking to it though).

I don't like Dragon Ball Z in widescreen, but the remastering definitely bothers me more than the cropping does.

Not a huge fan of 16 x 9 DBZ, but for 15 bucks used on amazon I am willing to give season 1 a try!

The cropping is not that noticeable in my opinion.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

Ugh, those Season 3 shots reminded me of this:

Here's the Blu-ray with some basic color balancing done, which is apparently something FUNimation/Post & Transfer is unable to do:

Good thing 4 and 5 have better colors (but they did on the orange bricks too).

I swear amazon can't make up its mind how much it really wants for season 5! Just a couple hours ago it was $31 now it's $34.99 and this morning when I looked it was $28+shipping lol I'll probably order it tomorrow. God! I can't wait to get this release done. lol
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Yeah I agree. I'm almost through the 1st season and I've really enjoyed it. even though I wished it was in 4x3 I'm just happy stuff isn't getting deleted off the screen when shaking and such is going on. lol

Just fyi if you weren't impressed with the Season 1 blu ray don't expect any miraculous improvements in the following sets. I mean sure I think Season 2 looks better than season 1 but not to the point of changing your opinion of the overall release. As the sets have gone on colors have improved but by and large its just more of the same.

Has the cover art for Seasons 7,8 & 9 been released yet? I'm still waiting on Season 5 to arrive in the post (I got refunded the import fee cost because it decreased). One thing I like about these sets is that they only cost me £16 pounds each. Which is a bargain in my opinion. Haha.

The placeholder for season 7 is probably going to be the cover art. Why Great Saiya-Man is kicking Mighty Mask, I don't know, but...

I really hope that will not be the cover art. It's like they just copy and pasted everyone over a picture of the Tournament. Plus it doesn't make any sense, like you pointed out, why is Saiyaman attacking Mighty Mask?

Well at least they have the tournament and Saiyaman on the cover... I guess.

I like it but Son just looks so unfitting where they placed him, heck, Videl would've been more suitable for it!
