Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE" (PS4/XB1/PS3/360) Official Threa
Whatever happened to the questions they were going to answer at Japan Expo?
I definitely saw lots of interesting questions that were asked on a website and didn't even get answered... Anyways, I'm still waiting for Treevax to interview the developers...

If you're referring to my translation, no, it's not been mistranslated. I guarantee that.Shinnin wrote:There's a chance that the statement could have been mistranslated.

Welp, my interest just went down the drain.Dimps makes a lot of games that are played at tournaments like EVO. Are you trying to make Dragon Ball Xenoverse more tournament friendly? MH: We’re not specifically trying to make a tournament fighting game. We are aiming to make a game that people want to learn how to play.

Looks like this will be another game that will be laughed at by the competitive community.
I don't think my dream of seeing a competitive DBZ will ever come to realization.

Dragon Ball is never going to be a competitive fighter. The closest you'll ever get to that will be if Hyper DBZ ends up polished to the point that it's actually viable. At this point, it's absolutely not despite how damn fun it is.Dimps makes a lot of games that are played at tournaments like EVO. The fact they're saying it's a game that can be learned is a positive at least. Actual depth please!

I'm interested... you never know what will happen, even games like super smash bros of all things end up becoming tournament games.
In a world of approximately seven billion people, the irony is that wandering around... is the fastest way to get noticed

So basically Battle of Z mentality all over again. if this game flops its going to hurt Dimps more than anything. Expectations were set too high for Dimps to make another disposable casual-friendly trial. Namco still doesnt realize that people don't want a sloppy game to drink to, we want a game that we can actually be proud to play. If gameplay tightness isn't at the highest priority than there was no point of getting Dimps at all. Spike could have still very well did this game then, it might have been crap (as This alpha looks like Spike's final products) but it would at least be expected. This is just wasting Dimps as a resource, I've seen people hyping this game up on the name alone from the Budokai community. Now, I know hearts are going to break over this game.Flame Dragon wrote:Welp, my interest just went down the drain.Dimps makes a lot of games that are played at tournaments like EVO. Namco is never clear with what their games actually provide or allow us to do. What does "Learn the game" mean? Learn how to stand in front of a camera and do a goofy looking pose to an unresponsive command? or swing a numbchuck wildly like an enraged chimpanzee?AjayLikesGaming wrote:Dragon Ball is never going to be a competitive fighter. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

If they were to release this game also for the Wii U and Vita perhaps they'd blame these two systems as to why the game'd be doing so poorly, but given that it's going to be on 360/PS3/PS4/XO then there's no reason for that, except if the customers are unsatisfied with the game then by that time Bandai Namco really needs to look into it and realise they're doing something wrong. That being, trying to force Dimps into making a Tenkaichi game.SingleFringe&Sparks wrote:if this game flops its going to hurt Dimps more than anything. Seriously just let Dimps do their magic and no one'll complain, Bandai Namco.

At least if this game proves to be better than Budokai Tenkaichi 3, then we'll finally know that Spike was just lucky.

So much Spike hate....
Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE" (PS4/XB1/PS3/360) Official Threa
I just realised you're completely right, there's no where near enough concrete information to make the assumptions some of us have been making. If there is non-splitscreen local multiplayer, which it seems will be the case, it's not even clear that it was being demonstrated during the expo; as you've said we can barely see anything of the second players HUD, and there's the fact that player 1 seems to be able to lock on/off. Most likely they decided to player on different systems for some reason.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:We don't even know if that's actually the case. They could simply be playing on two different screens (they had two TVs), thus we only got the one perspective on the screen we were seeing. People need to stop making assumptions on an alpha build with incomplete information, as the camera could function differently when playing on the same screen and show both player's HUD.
I believe I read that one of the commentators started speaking of non-splitscreen multiplayer during the presentation which led me to believe that it was actually being demonstrated at that point, and I also recall someone on here stating that they said something like player one and two would take turns holding the perspective between rounds. Whilst it seems likely that local multiplayer is now non-splitscreen, I think we need to take into account it was not necessarily being demonstrated during the expo, and features such as P1 being able to lock on and off, and the camera being in the perspective of only one of the players may not even be the case in the local multiplayer mode. Therefore we actually know next to nothing of the local multiplayer other than the fact that there isn't splitscreen, so it could actually look a lot better than what some of us were dreading.

Don't forget the new character silhouette and the fact that they'd like to include a new OVA (though that doesn't mean we'll get one).
Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE" (PS4/XB1/PS3/360) Official Threa
Treevax had an interview with them but he haesn't put it up yet so maby he got something out of them but as of now we don't know anything new which might mean that we're not getting it before fall 2015 or they would have told/showd us more about it by nowgoku the krump dancer wrote:So is it confirmed that we've learned pretty much NOTHING from the Expo.
That or they don't have anything to show which i hope isn't the case
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Yep, like the second day of Japan Expo:
